I'm just very wary of believing it when it came out of nowhere in response to people arguing with her on Twitter when she said she was a bigger draw than Lethal/did more for the company

And it's like the third or fourth different reason she has given for leaving RoH

And like said, it's not like anything criminal happened regardless

I also don't put it past wrestlers to take sexual rejection all that kindly.

Even if Taeler is merely connecting dots where they arent connected I find her claim reasonable enough to mostly believe.

This is wrestling where as recently as the late 00s and early 10s you had major acts of women-hating men presented as just straight babyfaces

I just want to post and say that I think wrestling has become so damn good everywhere and I feel like I need to adjust how I rate matches in order to not have so many 4 and 5 star matches. I feel very privileged to be able to watch so many great shows nowadays.

We don't have a lot of super-positive posts in the thread, but I had to say that between recent shows like Takeovers, NXT UK, New Japan, improving Impacts, the sporadic Ring of Honor shows I watch, Lucha Underground... I can't rave enough about wrestling in the world.

Vacation MWL update:

Getting an Uber over there and then buying tickets for both of us would be $100 at least. And then I realized that I would never ever spend $100 for an independent wrestling show like this, so it made my decision for me. It would be fun! But not worth the price when we can just hang out at Universal Studios instead for those hours we'd be there.

They stopped Ellsworth and then just immediately started fighting each other for no reason

It was basically an exact replication of the Family Guy joke where women can't be near each other without fighting

Lucha Underground isn't quite the right product for it I'll agree with SEP on that to some extent

ROH with good production values and a bit more star power could swing pretty strong ratings on the right network though I feel.

If pro wrestling was treated a bit more experimentally like you would with say a reality TV series I think consistent ratings are pretty easily obtained, though. Those people who used to watch WCW still exist. Like Fox would probably legitimately get more out of pulling an El Rey and funding their own wrestling fed (or buying something cheaper like RoH or NWA and infusing some production values into em) than just buying rights for WWE at this point.

Real talk, 205 is the best "televised" wrestling program by a good bit, considering total package.

It has WWE production values without the bloat of their other shows. Great matches, characters and stories told in the ring or in short promos instead of long, convoluted segments. Even an authority figure properly written to enhance the product, not detract. It is amazing how it exists somehow exempt from the usual WWE garbage.

It feels like it could be extended, too without to much bloat, because they regularly have promos/quick segments setting up stuff for the next week, so you could just take some of that and make it a "later tonight" kind of deal. Maybe not to two hours, but they have enough talent to make something like an hour and a half plus post show work.

Just wanna say that ROH is not a cheap buy. Sinclair Broadcasting isnt gonna want to sell now that they make a consistent profit on it.

Also I think their production values are pretty good these days.

Way better than they were a few years ago in any case.

But if you're saying Sinclair doesn't wanna give it up cheap, I feel like RoH as a brand name has little enough extra value relative to "anything that is clearly wrestling (part of the problem TNA had as a name) and doesn't have the stink of TNA on it (the other problem)" that it probably wouldn't be a good buy. But I do think that buying say Corgan NWA, assuming it's a coherent product, could probably get you like... 80% of WWE's audience at this point just by putting in minimal effort. More over time if it was actually good.

We'll never know because no one's willing to experiment with wrestling but I do think there's a lot of untapped demand for it out there.

The main question I have is cost.

They are paying WWE a TON per episode.

If they could produce a product that drew even 50% of the WWE audience they could probably do so at a quarter of the per episode cost they are giving wwe.

ITV is in England! We will see how the relaunched World of Sport series does on a channel with much more visibility than the one WWE is on there
