nah, this is the direction the series has been heading. Don't mistake it as a side game, it'll sell well and we won't see a good pokemon game for another 20 years minimum

don't be dumb, the game calculates exp as if you have the exp share on, so it's either have an exp share or be drastically underleveled, we've already seen this in the past two gens.

Yeah, I thought it looked really bad. Basically ignore the franchise until the real Pokmon Switch comes out probably late 2019/mid 2020 because all these side games look bad

I wouldn't say you're drastically underleveled with it off in SM. Without really any wild Pokemon grinding it wasn't until the last island that I really fell behind. But being underleveled is the only way to have much of a challenge anyway outside of Nuzlocking or forcing yourself to use weak Pokemon.

Come to think of it, the last kanto remake also restricted all but the original 150, and suffered from unprecedented handholding

By the time we return to kanto 20 years from now there will probably just be an "auto" button that runs through the game for you

Having played Gen 7 games multiple times, both with EXP Share on and off, there is no problem with the levels
In fact, main-game balance is one of the very few things that gen 7 did right, and it's all thanks to the Gen V exp forumla

What's the connectivity like between this and other games?

Seems to me like this is their attempt to make a console game that cashes in with PoGo and the one next year will be the true game which connects with previous generations

You can transfer Pokmon from Go to it. I think thats all we know for connectivity so far though?

It's a thing from Pokemon Go where Pokemon basically have ratings. The higher the CP, the stronger it is

A traditional mainline game is confirmed to be in development and will released in 2019. That will be the Gen 8 game that will stick to the formula that we're used to for the previous generations. Meaning, no Pokemon Go style catching system as seen in the Let's Go games.

From the footage they showed today it's clear that Pokemon in Pokemon Let's Go will have the traditional six stats. You were able to send excess caught Pokemon to the professor. He gave the player a Quick Candy in exchange for a Rattata, which he fed to a Pokemon to raise its Speed by 1.

They would never say that a classic mainline game is in development and then proceed to scrap all development on that game if the Let's Go games actually sells very well. That just doesn't make any sense for a developer to do here.

I think it was the cutscene where the player is tasked with staring at a Slowpoke that turned me off to the game.
Kudos to Gamefreak for trying to add more in-game events and interactions with Pokemon in the overworld.
But this cutscene is literally the player being asked to stare at a Slowpoke. Followed by a 10-15 second clip of the player doing just that.
How is that supposed to be fun?
