Madarame is definitely the weakest villain in the game.

The concept of the Persona 5 dungeons are basically ripped from the Persona 4 dungeons. The implementation is definitely higher-budget though. Persona 3's dungeon is a whole different beast, and one that I think works excellently for the game even though on its own it would kinda suck.

Well, Persona 4 does something similar with its dungeons in that they're created by the unconscious perceptions of the one who creates them. It's just that the people who create the dungeons in P4 are generally good guys, not bad guys.

That sounds interesting, but I really like the "real location warped into something else" aspect the most.

He's obviously bad, but Kamoshida was sexually abusing and destroying the lives of teenagers, he's obviously way worse.

I mean that's basically what it is for most of them. There are a couple that deviate from being real locations or something that is like a real location, but for the most part that's what they are.

It's just they don't have an actual structure on the inside and are just randomized dungeons.

Goemon's a tricky one since he was a real person but he's by far better known today through a famous play showing a heavily fictionalized version of his life.

Actually, this is kinda true for Kidd too. There was an actual guy named William Kidd who was executed as a pirate, but he's the center of tall tales now.

As far as Carmen goes, she was in a story but people really only know her from Bizet's (phenomenal) opera.

That's different from the formula I found online. They said Treasure + Mokoi, which it said both were in the second palace even though I scoured it and found no Mokois. I may just use yours, or I may just give up on this confidant.

I honestly found those requests easier than I expected. There's always a really obvious link to help complete it in the next dungeon or something.

And the whole point of it is that the Personas you make from it end up being really useful for a while. It sort of helps teach what to make that's good.

Well, they save automatically to your Compendium when you first get them, but you can save "better" versions of them if you want after they've gained some skills or if you fuse a new one you like better. Of course, the better the Persona is, the more expensive it is to summon, so there's that.

Completed the second palace. I enjoyed the explanation of Madarame stealing and defacing the painting and letting Yusuke's mother die, that's pretty evil. I'm not sure if it's as bad as sexually abusing fifteen year-old girls, though.

Having him turn into a series of hilarious paintings with different parts of a face on them was a miscalculation, though. That's just so funny and silly that it completely defuses the drama. I can't recall seeing a boss this hysterical, I love it. Having the ridiculous cat bus show up while dramatic piano music plays and Madarame ask Yusuke what he should do to repent is like something out of MGS.

I don't really like Yusuke, I should say. I know they're going for like an intense and dignified character here, but he just comes off as boring and unrelatable. Like I do not think my reaction to being told that this guy effectively killed my mother for money would involve me remaining calm and composed.

You don't have to respond when people ask you to hang out. If you put off answering, then obviously you lose the opportunity to hang out that day. Not showing up on the map means he's not available to hang out on that day. It doesn't ruin your ability to progress the Confidant.

That's also the beauty of fiction. You can ignore someone for days, weeks, and months, and they're still eager to hang out with you.

Thanks, hopefully he'll just show up again later. Speaking of which, when it says "I don't think my bond with X will strenghten from hanging out today," it's still good to hang out, right? In the sense that it means I need two days of hanging out instead of just one to increase my bond.

As for characters acting unrealistically, sure, but if "your foster father murdered your mother to steal her artwork" doesn't move you, then nothing ever would. That's like the most emotional thing a human could be told.

You can still hang out. A Confidant needs a certain amount of "points" to level up. It just means you won't get enough to level up that time, but you'll still get some points from hanging out.

Yes. Hanging out will progress you to the next scene that will increase your level. Make sure to have a Persona of the correct arcana when you do it.

People can be emotionally shocked and repressed. Furthermore, it makes sense that Yusuke channels much of his emotions through his art than more directly like a normal person would.

I'm just comparing it in my head to other big emotional fictional moments like Vader saying he's Luke's father and trying to imagine the movie if Luke had just shaken his fist and said something like "This is unforgivable." I know that's not Luke's character but I'm just trying to imagine any character like that and I don't know. I guess we're just not likely to agree on this point.

On an unrelated note, I forgot to mention that Madarame is the only fight that made me reset. It was a noticeable jump in difficulty from the rest of the game, which so far has been really easy.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention this earlier. I think the game tells you this but you should always be carrying a persona of the same arcana as the person with whom you're hanging out (doesn't need to be equipped). If you do you'll get 1.5x (I think) as many points.

Revisiting the Persona Requests from the Velvet Twins. I was sitting on this info because you're not to that point yet, but maybe knowing this will make you feel a bit better about it. Once you reach the next Palace the game will unlock a new option in the Velvet Room that lets you sacrifice a Persona to power up as different one. Functionally, this destroys a Persona in exchange for giving a different one an EXP boost. However, it also chooses a skill from the sacrificed Persona at random to be passed to the Persona you're powering up. What this means for those requests is that as long as you have the Persona they're asking for, you can just sacrifice a Persona with the right skill to it and have the skill transferred to it. You may have to save scum it because the chosen skill is random but this way you don't have to worry about fusion and inheritance and all that stuff.

Do these creepy maid homekeeping services actually exist in Japan? I know about maid cafes, but actually going to someone's house seems like you're asking to be targeted by a serial killer.

On a serious note, I did a waifu ranking topic a while ago and Ms. Kawakami was one of the waifus. I don't remember much, but I did remember the explanation for how your relationship with her can start (this scene). I wonder what my reaction would have been if I'd gone in blind.

I'll be honest, this scene was less funny and wacky than I expected it to be from when I read the wiki. I expected some panicking, flailing about, maybe some of those anime 'angry forehead vein' things. Instead she just acts rationally and a little annoyed.

... and how did the doctor lady get my phone number?
