Also even though it's my 3rd persona and I DID try to max it I still missed out on like 4 max links. I don't know how where I went so wrong. Probably slacking on stats to unlock new links.

Still it's by far the most forgiving in that sense. In previous personas you would max like half the links if you were lucky.

This would be correct if the game didn't force me to confirm that I only wanted to wash one item of clothing.

I ended up resetting because I didn't want to lose that day, so it's all good.

Shadow Kamoshida just turned into a giant four arms demon with a giant tongue, and I have to say, I'd rather have fought a middle-aged man.

They do a really good job of making you hate Kamoshida. It was very satisfying to take him down.

So what happens if you time things so that the calling card is sent on a Saturday? There's no school on Sunday so Kamoshida couldn't see it.

well, they're both on the PSP which is very easily emulatable. the second one didn't get released outside of japan, but there's a fantranslation that is almost finished. the first game is a bit better anyway~

just be warned that the gameplay is dated. although with the improvements the psp version made (being able to speed up/turn off the slooooow battle animations), i honestly prefer the gameplay in it to p3/4. both games had rather awful gameplay. bad dungeons, unchallenging combat. the p2 games might not have great dungeons, but at least they aren't randomized bs with non-descript, constantly repeated enemies.

There's a few different places to get them but the best one you have access to now is in the flower shop in the underground mall iirc

Later on there will be another shop that sells one even better than that though

Where does Ann hang out now? She used to be at the classroom, but she's not there anymore. Is she just not there some days? Sorry, it's hard to get the hang of how this game works sometimes.

If you go to your Fast Travel and highlight different subway stops of it, it will show you which potential social links are hanging out in those stops on any given day.

Ann is typically in the underground mall of Shibuya station.

Also you can't hang out with a specific Confidant every single day. Each one has set days of availability each week, which may be impacted depending on whether you're tackling a Palace at the time or not.

But yeah, learn to use the map because it'll tell you everything you need to know on a given day.

Hm, thanks. I keep getting a confidant opportunity for Yongen-jaya, but I'm pretty sure that's just the clinic lady. There's one for the school, but that's just Ryuji, and the mall doesn't light up with one, so eh.

You might have to go find Ann and trigger another scene before she shows up as a regular mark on your map. If she's not at school, she'll be at the underground mall. Ryuji's almost always at the school, but if he's not (like during summer), he's at the arcade.

Not only can I not find Ann, I can't find Mishima or the "brown-haired bully" I need to advance the next quest.

For a guy who's played a million RPGs, I sure suck.

Keep in mind that not everyone is available every day. You have to follow their schedules, which I don't think are very consistent in this game. Since it's your first playthrough and first persona game, don't stress out too much about it, just pay attention and focus on what you want to do most when it's available.

For the bully, you have to find and talk to a certain NPC in the school. I think they're outside the school gates.

edit: Oh and a lot of the party member links are gated behind story. I think Ann might have been like this where it gives you a rank or two for free but you have to progress past a certain point until you can hang out with her normally.

I eventually figured out the bully sidequest, but I know Ann specifically has more to do here. I tried to talk to her and the protagonist was like IF ONLY I HAD HIGHER KINDNESS I COULD BE KIND TO HER.

I just realized that all of the non-Persona characters that show up (like Carmen, Zorro, etc) are public domain. I mean it's obvious, but man it would be amazing if someone showed up with a Homer Simpson persona.

Literally every persona is based off of a figure from some kind of mythology - many of them from Shinto but there's also Hindu, Pagan and even Christian figures in there. You can read their bios to learn more!

The fact they decided to roll with literary figures for the main party's personae is a super awesome choice, though. (FYI it was Greek gods in P3 and Shinto gods in P4.)

I know a lot about Greek gods and little about Shinto. I know the main goddess is the sun god and a little about her, so if I play P4, I guess that'll be lost on me. And while I did see some Christian-like angels as enemies so far, I'd find it way funnier if like Jesus or Moses show up.

Heck the Christian God is the last boss in like... 5 or more SMT games (not Persona though)
