You know, sometimes spoilers have the opposite effect on me, like you've been expecting it for so long that when it finally happens its even greater than what you expected, stuff like that.

There's a difference between "expecting" it to happen and having it "officially confirmed" that it will happen before it happens. But still, you may have a point. I mean, I've been talking and thinking about Lulu potentially becoming a Precure for months... I've been hoping for that beautifully ironic moment of Nanoha's VA being on the opposite end of a befriending (which we got this past week) and that buildup might make the hype for the glorious moment at the end even higher. Who knows?

I'll just have to wait and see how these next couple weeks play out.

So I just got to watch the second Kino's Journey OVA, Byouki no Kuni -For You-. Kinda forgot that it's in the DVD that came with the Watashi no Kuni visual book.

The story isn't changed significantly from the LN chapter, so that's cool. Being a few minutes longer than a normal episode also helps with the pacing and getting in all of the important details and scenes.

Visually, there's some jarring background CG in two scenes, but the bike scenes in this episode are the best of all of Kino's anime adaptations so far. Kino's design is also a bit different from the 2003 series, being taller and looking slightly older (aka closer to descriptions in the LN).

The highlight for me is the ending theme song though. It might even be my favorite song from the entire Kino anime series.

There are other features as well. uBlock Origins works really well for me overall, KissAnime included, so I mostly use Essentials for the captcha. But it's not a big deal for me to go back to clicking two images and getting on with it. The other features are convenient, though. Toggles on/off various things on the site, next episode auto-play, bookmark, currently airing list on the homepage, Reddit discussion links, etc.

The users getting banned, though. That's shitty.

I remember uBlock skipped ads for me on Crunchyroll with no issue but I felt so guilty I disabled it anyway >_> No idea how it works, but it sometimes gets around adblock detectors.

well my overall thoughts on the matter are pretty disconnected from the whole thing since I don't use the site or the extension, but:

1) if someone makes an auto solver for your captcha, you messed up. not them. the entire point of a captcha is making sure someone isn't a bot and you picked a useless enough type of captcha it can't even do that

2) fighting so hard to get ads back on your piracy site is just kinda gross imo. Not going to get into argument about piracy itself because that's happened way too many times and never gets anywhere but even people who don't think too much of it should realize that trying to generate money off serving up content that's all just stolen is super scummy

Kissanime isn't usable without kissessentials. Fuck that stupid captcha and ads. At least they added this option on essentials to outright say "Fuck off" to the captcha lmao

Honestly, if I'm not able to stream an anime off a reputable site (like Crunchyroll, Funimation, VRV, etc.) I don't even bother streaming it at all. I just download the episode and play it with VLC Media Player. There's even a version of VLC made specifically for the Xbox One, so I can just throw the video on a flash drive, plug it into the console, and watch it on my TV. It's great.

MPC + MadVR is great for judder reduction, and debanding which is a huge problem in Crunchyroll's Steins;Gate 0 stream

And I finally sat down and knocked out season 2 of Kaiji. Still the goddamn king of Gambling Anime. Overall, Season 1 was better, but Season 2 was still really damn good.

Only complaint. The Pachinko Game went on too long. You just can't make Pachinko interesting.

Overall an amazing show, and I can't recommend it enough.

Yeah I think the bigger feat is... making the Pachinko Game interesting at all, because there was so much strategy that went on into it until... well until it wasn't lul.

Read the manga pop. The next one is Mahjong but doesn't require that much understanding of Mahjong, the one after is this interesting trust/betray game, and the one after that is a really freaking good one in One Poker, which is Poker extremely simplified.

The beauty of the series is in simplifying an incredibly complex game and still making it just as complex as the original game though in a different way. I think Pachinko is actually an antithesis of that idea and is one of the many reasons why people think it's the weakest part of the overall Kaiji series

Yeah, I was strongly considering looking into the Manga. I'm just really bad with Manga. But Kaiji is good enough that I think I can stick with it.

It's a lot more metaphorical than the anime though. It has a lot of moments where Kaiji or his opponent tries to express what they're currently feeling in a big ol' metaphor, and many times that's literally the entire chapter lol

I will miss the overdramatic Narrator though. Dramatic Narrator is always the best character wherever he appears.

The Dramatic Narrator still exists in a big way. The Narrator in Kaiji just read off of the narration describing what Kaiji or his opponent felt. I pretend to read the narration in a big ol' dramatic voice

I can definitely see a spin off then a 3rd season push possible. I hope it happens. They have enough for a 4th season but I can't see them being 26 eps.

If they include the trust/betray game and one poker hen in one season, it might honestly be like some AOTY shit. Those two are some of the most amazing Kaiji arcs
