I already have $66k in student loans.

This time I'm gonna apply for scholarships though. And I'm not going to try to get in until next year so I'll be able to save money between now and then. I'll also get my bonuses from work so that'll be about $9k over the next three years.

Maybe it won't be too bad... Maybe... :/

Hmmm.

Do scholarships, apply for everything under the sun, see if your job/future job ( what are you going to do with this? ) will help you out.

100k in student loans is no joke. You're about 66k in now, so how much a year do you make now?

My 66k will be paid off in 10 years so I'm not too worried about that. With what I was planning last night it seems that I can pay off about a third to half of this degree while I'm working on the degree so it seems pretty feasible and with becoming a librarian I'll end up making about $20k more a year than I make now. Librarians in my city make $80-90k a year at public libraries.

No it's not going to take the rest of my life. I consolidated my first set of loans and it's a 10 year loan. It'll be paid off when I'm 38. I have a well paying job.

I don't know why people come into these topics with an "I know it all" attitude prior to getting any facts about the individual. I make good money and I don't live in squalor. I want to get a Master's degree so I can have a job I want as opposed to the job I have now that I work and like okay just because it pays well.

My four year degree was designed as a stepping stone to get a Master's and I couldn't complete that after I got the first degree. I could have tried to work in a museum but those jobs are very difficult to get and the ones you can get with a bachelor's are not as well paying as the job I have now.

I think the problem is that you havent played a convincing argument that your present situation compared to the situation youre willing to put yourself into equalizes the income change. Theres just skepticism that youre not adding enough income to come out positively.

If you like the work, thats fine, but since this topic seemed to be concerned with the economics of the matter, thats the arena were tackling. I dont make $80K but high pay isnt always worth the chase if you cant make it make sense on the other side.

Like, I agree the world needs doctors but digging yourself out of a $300K student debt hole is a HUGE mountain to climb, doctors salary be damned. While you wouldnt be down for such a massive responsibility, you do have risk to mitigate all the same with such a decision.

Find a call center job at an insurance company and work your way into claims. If you don't have a four year degree that's the easiest way. Most companies require a four year degree for claims but will make exceptions for high performers in their call center customer support environments.

A graduate program shouldn't cost anything really... Maybe look for a PhD program that has a hard 40/hr a week research component and a tuition waiver + stipend to live on because your program should be a full time job in itself?
