I can hear both sometimes. The Yanni sounds like one of the toy aliens from the Toy Story movies.

I can very easily control which one I hear. My first listen was "Yanny" but if you register only the low pitch sound you can hear "Laurel".

I opened this topic a few minutes ago and 100% heard Yanny, voted for it, and had no idea how anyone could hear Laurel.

For some reason I come back to it and now I only hear Laurel, and don't hear any semblance of Yanny... odd.

edit: had my dad play it on his computer down the hall via speakers to see what he heard. Suddenly I heard yanny. Same when I got closer, but still heard laurel through my own headphones. Few mins later, I could hear laurel through headphones too, but only while not wearing them. Doing that I can practically hear both words at once. With headphones on though, it's Laurel without question.

I feel like this is a matter of audio quality. ATH-M50x vs whatever random speakers my dad is using. Maybe.

It sounds more like yammy to me than it does yanny, but there's absolutely nothing in there that sounds like any part of laurel to me.

Ok, weird. I sent it to a few friends to see what they thought. I listened to it again about 20 minutes after my initial post, and now I hear Laurel. And I dont hear Yanny in the slightest.

Oh my god, my wife hears yanny. Actually, she hears yammy, but the point is she doesn't and can't hear laurel. This is weird. I didn't even spoil the test. I asked her what she heard without an either/or or anything. There's no way that's saying anything but laurel, yet she hears yammy.

I know I did the same thing with a couple people. Its fucking nuts because I dont hear a Y or an M at all. I very clearly hear laurel.

I thought that, so I tried it on several different speakers and my headphones. Always laurel for me. Played it on my phone for my wife and she heard yammy.

I hear nothing that even resembles laurel, regardless if i use my headphones. So Yanny it is for me.

My brain has decided that it's Laural, I don't hear Yammy anymore.

seriously though, if you're someone who can't hear anything but yanny, just leave it on repeat and listen to it while searching for a lower male voice saying laurel and eventually you won't be able to hear anything but laurel, but then after coming back and giving your brain/ears time to forget about it, you should be able to hear both on command

the only people who shouldn't be able to hear both are the people who can only hear laurel, because then it has something to do with frequency I guess
