GS12 is the highest midterm level position. They value experience in the field which precludes a lot just applying out of school who have none yet. I also have disabled veteran preference. I'm naturally a "get my hopes up" kinda guy, but I'm not being overeager by saying I'm pretty qualified for the listed position. But yeah, there IS a lot of luck involved in getting a government job, so I'm just hopeful they give me an interview and I don't blow it, lol.
