This just sounds loke there wasn't enough room on the assignment. Not really seeing the bias. If you ran out of room when trying to write the ingredients in your foods, then likely others would run out of room when trying to write down all the vegetables in a salad or other the ingredients in other common American foods.

you can rationalize anything
but you have to wonder why they made it so short if they didn't expect people to only need that space because all they're eating is white bread microwaved broccoli and baked chicken

The hysteria in this thread is real. There is actually a post about collusion between the food industry and medicine, implying purely sinister goals. Jesus.

What was the purpose of your assignment, TC? Is it a nutrition course or something else?

My assumption is that this was an exercise intended to highlight the amount and proportion of carbs, protein, and fats; maybe even nutrients in your typical diet. It more likely than not was not intended as a platform for people to display their culture...

I can only imagine they made it short because they didn't expect students to obssessive-compulsively itemize every literal ingredient.

If a kid ate cereal were they expectwedexpected to write down:

Corn flour, sugar, whole grain oat flour, cocoa (processed by alkali), canola oil, corn syrup, unbleached enriched flour, riboflavin, salt, demerged corn meal, natural and artificial flavor, cornstarch, chocolate liquor, leavening, soy lechitin, BHT to preserve freshness?

Wouldn't the 15 side dishes at least share one or two common ingredients to at least narrow the list down a little?

Tofu I guess depending on the soup?

I don't know about Bok's family but mine has a bias for parsley, garlic, and ginger. Besides rice those three show up a lot in my family's cooking.

Garlic (cloves or powder), onion (powder) and various pepper types for mine

Honestly I find hot sauce to not really go anywhere. It's hot but does it actually add to the meat or is it just there to be there? More often than not I find it is the latter.

but like my family is korean
we have like 15 side dishes every dinner
and then one lunch I had kimbap which is a roll with rice veggies and meat but the form didn't have enough space for even the ingredients in that dish

it's like they expected everyone to go home and eat canned corn and boiled chicken breast

@ChaoticKnuckles im waiting on you to explain to me what the American experience is

American culture. Essentially what your life is like when you grow up in the US and your family has been in the country for a few generations. Youre acting surprised that an American school assignment about food isnt tailored to a Korean experience for some reason. Doesnt really seem like anything that would require realizing at all.

Scottish cuisine is a mark of total embarrassment to me. And no, I'm not talking about haggis. That's genuinely good stuff. Haggis, and cold water salmon, and stornaway black pudding. These things are terrific. But these are not things that Scots actually eat.

No what I'm talking about is what the average Scottish person considers food. Cheese and chips. Chips and gravy. Fish and chips. Chips and chips. Greggs pies. Sausage rolls. Irn Bru. Frozen peas with all of the above.

The overall attitude towards food in this country is that if it takes effort to make and isn't 90% batter and pastry, then it's some kind of posh wank food. People are genuinely proud of how lowbrow their food choices are. The amount of scots I know who wouldn't even know how to make breakfast that wasn't fried eggs and bacon astonishes me. The people in my office either eat vegetable broth day-in-day-out, or a sausage roll. 50 year old women eating mcdonalds for lunch 2-3x a week.

Same goes for Northern English folk. You guys are possibly worse.

tl;dr America, Australia and New Zealand truly are the children of the UK.

I understand your point and can see why that is frustrating, but why can't you just attach an extra sheet of paper? I would rather they print less paper then add extra space for every student especially when the majority aren't eating large complex meals. If every worksheet was customized for every student it would just be a huge waste of time.

Edit: actually, this is just stupid. If all worksheets were customized you would probably just complain about worksheets being racist because yours has more space for ingredients. Is school culturally biased, yes, probably all over the world. But, your example is just a bad example and you wanting to complain....for attention? I'm not sure why.

Imagine being so fucking conceited that you think you are the only person in the room who eats food that isnt a part of the standard American diet.
