What's more impressive was 12 in 14 years.

I enjoyed watching a new one every Christmas while I was growing up. Even if the movies weren't great.

I really got into these as a kid, actually.

The first one is definitely super depressing.

The second one is, while the beginning of the "let's just churn out movies left and right because kids love dinosaurs and will eat it up" era, actually one of my favorite movies as a kid. I think I legitimately watched it more than the first one. That being said, it was also nice to see characters who had been through so much have a chance to be happy, even if they did immediately start getting into more and more danger.

After so many movies, I ended up just watching them whenever they showed up on TV, which wasn't hard because they aired frequently.

Honestly, people rightfully harp on the movies for being cranked out so frequently, but when you're a kid with low standards (which is most kids, and that's as it should be) it's honestly pretty great.

I've only seen the first one. Cera was my favorite. (just because of her name :P)

I didn't know Duckie was supposed to be a girl until I was an adult. I thought it was just a female voicing a young boy. >_>

Knowing a lot of young parents - they would kill to have 14 different movies their kids will watch ad nauseum

Most of them basically want to murder Olaf.

Only a couple of them are orphans though. The rest have at least one parent.

I think I've seen up to 4, but I only vaguely remember the first movie. Which is strange because I had a deep fondness for those movies as a kid, but I don't think I had the chance to watch them a lot.

What did they even do after the first movie? I'm guessing they just kept telling a variation of the same story over and over.

The first one came out when I was 8. We rented it from West Coast Video for VHS. It was almost as big a deal as An American Tale.

I was barely even aware they had made a sequel. I was in high school by the time it was released (correction: 8th grade), and I certainly never heard anything about it back in '94. It was only years later when I joked with somebody about how they should have made a sequel, and they snorted and asked me if I was kidding that I learned there was an entire long-running franchise going.

Yeah, the whole Barsi mess cast even more darkness over ADGTH which she had only just completed work on before she died. A stand-in had to sing''Soon You'll Come Home'' as things so bad in that household she'd actually burst into tears during takes to the point where Bluth & Co, said ''Look, let's not push her''.

If you can't be bothered to sit through all fourteen movies, MarzGurl reviews them all pretty well here.

Including the TV series and most of the video games (minus the "activity center" stuff)

Yes.

There was a tv series, too.

A, thankfully, short-lived one.
