Honestly I would have much rather had Gohan and 17 switch places in the anime, why not let Gohan last this long and fight Jiren? 17 should have gone out with Dyspo. We hadn't seen him on screen for like 5 arcs, he flat out said he was training the entire time he was doing his solo thing, and the saiyans have always been scrubs that have to train extra hard to get strong which is why Frieza nearly surpassed them with a few days of working at it.
