It was absolute garbage. Nonsensical, typical stupid Sci-Fi characters that can't see obvious clues as to their situation... too fast paced to develop any feeling for the characters at all so every emotional moment fell flat.

Pretty disappointing.

it was okay.

spoilers ofc

it's more similar to cloverfield lane than the original. it also doesn't really link any of the stories.

i really disliked that the movie's plot focuses around some worldwide energy crisis and that there's some sort of global war, when cloverfield 1 just like, took place in NYC.

i guess they're just going to keep naming random movies cloverfield and throwing in monsters at the end without explaining anything.

It worked in the original because a monster movie from some random dudes perspective was new and interesting.

Shame the monster was so lame though. >_>

Another two-hour Cloverfield cocktease.

The first one: two hours of random destruction then you get a glimpse of the monster.

The second one: two hours in some conspiracy freak's basement, then some aliens.

This one: two hours in space, then a glimpse of a monster.

I didn't hate it, but it was a pretty "meh" film. Pretty standard space-station survival film that didn't really add anything all that new or creative to it, felt extremely formulaic.

HUGE SPOILERS DONT READ

It connected and at the same time it didn't.

C1 - Universe A

C2 - Universe ?

C3 - Universe B

Here's how I see it.

We all know that the monster in C1 was awaken by scientists fucking around in the Atlantic Ocean. A submarine gets too close and wakes it up. A Japanese company I think. Said creature wreaks havoc to the company rig and heads for NYC. We also see space debris crash down.

In C3. The space station they were on opens up a riff. They travel through it and they meet Jensen who I would presume is from the same universe as C1. Her Satellite or whatever crashed down into the ocean instead of traveling through the dimension. So that's the debris we see from C1.

Also, in C3, I actually thought it was a different perspective from the attack in C1 but it isn't. The people on earth have more advanced phones and technology than in C1.

So this movie is basically explaining that because of them they opened up a cinematic universe of multi verses with different monsters.

But my question is. The kaiju was there anyways already. Since the Cloverfield in C1 was thousands of years old already and is just a baby.

But the one in C3 is breaking the sky. It's definitely bigger.

I was good with this. My reasoning is:

Oriental B was replaced by Blondie B yeah? and I bet Oriental B died in B's verse but wasn't the case in Oriental A's. ---- so she definitely had some Grim Reaper around her once shit turned south in everyone's asses. The last shot of the movie bothers me in a lot of emotional levels but I'm gonna assume they completely missed Clovey A since he was huge and well yeah, landed and survived. >_>

I question the Generic Guy's arm being gone, seemed normal at first since I guess Generic Guy B's arm was missing itself somehow. Then his death I Guess was just at random since physics itself didn't know what the fuck was going on? (Idk) And he got the wrong place at the wrong time death?

It had a bunch of great ideas and actors crammed into an hour and a half.

I get the basics though, the god particle ripped a whole into space sending them to another dimension and bringing monsters to theirs and the other Cloverfield movies.

Crammed is the right word. It needed at least a 2 hour running time in my opinion. It never took time to breath which is what a story like this needs to really pull you in.

I think the best way I can relate to this movie is the Bioshock Infinite of the series. It was enjoyable and it loosely connected previous installments, but overall it wasn't what I had come to expect from a Cloverfield movie. At least 10 Cloverfield Lane had palpable suspense.

all the negative reviews are whining about how it didn't move the franchise forward lol. Wtf were they expecting? 10 Cloverfield Lane didn't do that. I'm fine with a bunch of loosely connected sci fi movies. I expected this to be in the same vein as 10 Cloverfield Lane, not a direct sequel/prequel to Cloverfield. So weird.

I don't care if this didn't move the franchise forward. It was a run-of-the-mill sci-fi story, with nothing but a few seconds worth of cloverfield references. That was the problem.

Yeah it didn't know what it was going for. It was trying to be serious with the dead family shit. Then it wanted to be sciencey with the "god particle". Then it was a funny ha ha story with the hand moving around. Then it went back to trying to be a drama. Finally ending on a poor B action-thriller.

The movie was all over and didn't provide anything of use or interesting. Pretty sad. I really would like some good sci-fi monster movies....

To be honest, i didn't mind it, it just felt a bit slapped together, at times nonsensical and became a bit ho-hum toward the end. Hardly a terrible movie, just not a very good one.

I was entertained enough to keep watching despite grumbling to myself about some aspects of the plot.

the god particle fucked up space timey wimey and caused the monster to exist in other realities/dimensions/alternate universes

reality 1: the first cloverfield movie
reality 2: 10 cloverfield lane
reality 3: cloverfield paradox tam universe (the prime reality as well)
reality 4: cloverfield paradox mina universe (no monsters)

the movie still sucks
