I thought he was already in prison. his crimes came out years ago. but somehow he was able to go to a park and hang himself. the show is always going to have this shadow over it now in it's legacy. it's a shame cause it was a good show and lots of people loved it

Seems strange tbh, if he was convicted unless he had already been held for more then the duration of his sentence or a plea deal was made, house arrest etc, he should not have been free to go anywhere.

I didn't know about that one. was he an original cast member too? I only saw the first season and I think maybe part of season 2. then I lost touch with the show.

Child porn is a bit of a darker shadow on a show about and for kids but yeah Glee was tainted a long time ago

It wasn't that good of a show. Otherwise it's not surprising for a show featuring a lot of young actors to have these kinds of issues (although *this* specific issue is a little different).

On the plus side, at least he died *after* the show had ended. The other kid who OD'd kinda re-wrote the story.

He didn't get convicted, he plead guilty. And a sentence can't start until somebody is sentenced >_>

Yep, he has not been sentenced yet and was looking at taking a plea deal, but yeah, that deal woulda sucked for him seriously. If I was looking at 7+ years in prison and all that other stuff, I'd off myself as well.

What I don't get is why people who find children attractive download this stuff or have anything to do with it. I mean it's illegal. Would most guys watch normal porn if it was illegal? I sure wouldn't.

I mean, I guess the argument could be made that women are being........taken advantage of....in the porn industry or something....but watching kids who are obviously being abused? You have to be freaking sick to do that.

ITS possible it changed since I was trained up in this like 6 years ago but that's what it was when I was getting my degree.

I don't think they have any particular law for videos, so every frame is an individual picture of child pornography.

My memory is a little fuzzy on the specifics. They also probably just picked a somewhat arbitrary number. As I recall, theres a sort of 'limit' for what the number actually makes a difference. Whether it's 50k or a million, it bears the same charge as I recall.

I never knew that. That makes sense if so. I worked a suicide once where the guy was getting charged for like 260k images and all I could think was who the fuck needs that many photos.

Ive curated a desktop wallpaper collection for years and it currently only has 5,200 images. Granted, Ive culled it over the years, but I dont think Ive even come close to having 50,000 total. That would indicate a years-long obsession to me. Anyway glad hes dead burn in hell.

If theres any truth to it then any group or individual could basically use a program or malware to put CP onto a persons phone and alert authorities anonymously to forever ruin their life.

I dont know the details of this guys case though, its just something I think about when I see a story about a prominent figure getting caught with some absurd amount of images.

There are a ton of ways they catch people. Watching known places on the internet, pretending to be fellow pedophiles, even running the places people get pictures from.

And of course the classic... Someone sees your PC and turns it in.

I don't know about the NSA but I have heard this same theory with Russians. something about Russian nationals that live in other countries, if they piss off the Russian government, spies in those countries somehow load CP onto their computers and then alert the local authorities

If they count each frame of a video, then they can't admit the full duration of a video as evidence - as not all frames of a video would be incriminating. If they did, they're bearing false evidence.

Yeah but that's incredibly rare. 99% of these cases are low hanging fruit. Very easy to convict.

Basically all an investigator has to do is prove you were on the computer at the time it happened. With the proliferation of social media and other such websites (which usually only you have access to) means you can be placed on there at the same time.

People are dumb. Criminals are extra dumb.

Yaknow, I like to be the Devil's Advocate... sure he got out of a long term punishment, but lets push that aside for now. How much would it have cost to imprison him for the duration of his sentence? That cost is floated by the people and since prisons are so expensive... his punishment punishes the public more than the value of gains granted by deterrence.
