This doesn't work for me(and a bunch of other people, too). Either I'm uncomfortably cold. Or I dress in so much stuff, I can't move... and still pretty cold...

That is probably coming someone that hasnt been in -30c with a windchill of -45c. Layers dont do much once it gets that cold. Frost bite will come in just minutes if you have exposed skin.
Plus layering clothes just becomes uncomfortable and hard to move. Time consuming putting on and taking off once you get inside. Plus going out shopping and having to be inside somewhere for a long peroid of time sucks when you cant shed those layers

Depends, but usually cold. The only wildcard is snow because snow is the worst and ice is also terrible.

While low temperatures can quickly overcome any layers of warmth, you *still* have those layers of warmth. That means you might have minutes to tens of minutes vs immediately suffering from extreme heat. And extreme heat can prove fatal far faster than extreme cold.

Also worth remembering that warmth more quickly becomes problematic. Going up 10 degrees is the equivalent of going down 15 or 20 degrees when it comes to discomfort or harm. Heat gets harmful a lot faster than cold and there really aren't viable clothing options to delay heat damage.

I wouldn't mind the cold if I was able to find some good water proof gloves that I could use outside, because if they get wet then I might as well just take them off.

But other than that, I don't mind it the cold at all, as long as its not a level that are unbearable for the human body.

Doesn't that also depend on your threshold level, too. I mean, I feel I get colder faster than most people. Yet, it seems to take a while longer before I start feeling the heat being unbearable.

I have another problem I have with layers, though. Me personally, while my body could get cold, it's usually not just that. Normally, it's things like head/face area, hands, and feet that stay cold Moreno than others. And it's hard to work in those conditions. Some things are near impossible with gloves that actually keep you hands warm. A hat and mask only do so much for ears. And wearing multiple socks never seems to help with my toes, though that could be because of the steel toe boots. But even when I'm wearing them, feet stay cold...

Definitely cold. Far easier to warm up than cool off for me when i get back inside. Also just uncomfortable being too cold for me while even just a bit too much above average heat and death is coming as far as i can tell.

cold has so many problems that come with it, from wind-chill, frostbite, scraping windows, snow and ice (walking, driving, shoveling), frozen pipes, having to plug your car in, etc.

hot isn't perfect either, but has (seems to have) so many less problems. dehydration and heat-stroke is about all I can think of. I guess wildfires.

(I should say, I have been to California before (can't recall the time of year but not winter), and one thing I noticed was how "painful" the sun was. like it hurt my brain just to be under the sun. I've felt a similar "this is so extreme it's killing me" feeling from intense cold, but that was the only time I've felt it from sunshine, so I guess I don't really know how bad it can be.)

Relatively speaking, my MS is pretty mild. Like I haven't started losing eyesight or randomly losing the ability to walk for no reason. I mostly have muscle weakness, difficulty with walking, loss of coordination and balance, and the body tingles.

Hot weather seems to bother me even more than the average person with MS. It doesn't help that I live in California and haven't been able to cool my house properly no matter how many air conditioners we buy. When it's 112 outside and the inside of my house is 90... Suffering.

When my gf got the disease(over 15 years ago, way before I met her) she was apparently temporarily blind. She eventually got her vision back though but everything is now blurry on her left eye.
She can also sometimes lose her balance which worries me every time she stands on a stool.
She also suffers from very frequent headaches which I can't even imagine how painful it would be have in the long run.
Besides all that the disease seems to be mild.
The plaques she have in her brain have been stable for a long time now which sounds good.

At work we have at least two other people with MS, and both of them suffers way more from it.
Neither of them work full-time, one of them can barely walk and the other one have intense pains in the spine so she has to take morphine in order to manage it.

As I grew up in very hot and humid conditions, I'd say I prefer the cold.

Cold weather would mean layers of protective clothing and accessories. The effects of the cold can be delayed and/or mitigated.

The problem I have with heat is that the effects are almost immediately felt. It's not just the heat but the humidity and the hot air that comes with a breeze. It feels physically painful to feel the air and the sun on my skin. I literally feel my skin being fried as I walk outdoors. It also means (although not necessarily and may depend on what time of day you walk outdoors) that I'll be exposed to UV rays. ://// Not fun at all. I'd have to wear a loose mumu dress that's white, wear a hat and have a water bottle with me.

I'd prefer the cold. :/

I love the heat, even when it's very hot(unless it's also very humid). I despise the cold, I just can't handle being cold at all. It physically hurts, burns your skin, and stings your lungs to breath. No matter how many clothes you put on, the cold air still goes right in and saps any body heat you generated.

For me my diagnosis started when I suddenly had double vision in one eye. That is not supposed to happen, because double vision is usually your two eyes not aligning. My vision is already horrendous and has been getting worse every year of my life, but I don't THINK the MS has made it worse.

Though I suspect I had MS for a loooooong time before I was diagnosed with it.
