I'm always looking for new shows to try, and this weekend I dropped a double on The Resident. Really great first scene; honestly, one of the best openings to a medical show I've ever seen. It's not super-groundbreaking, but Matt Czurchy is a fantastic actor and Bruce Greenwood is such an underrated talent.

Looking forward to American Crime Story; I have it sitting on my computer to watch.

I watched the first episode of The Alienist, it's pretty by the numbers but Daniel Brhl is pretty good and I feel like it may get more interesting as it goes on.

I was thinking about picking that up. I've been a fan of Daniel Bruhl since Inglourious. I thought it might be too dark for my personal tastes, but I'll give it a shot if you think it's decent. Actually, check in with me after four eps and let me know how it is.

Fargo Season 2 was pretty great, I recommend it. Runaways was decent but not spectacular. It definitely has less of a unique voice than the comic.

Agreed. This is the first time in the streaming era that I'm watching literally nothing. It must be a weird month where all of the season breaks are overlapping.

In the comics they've never been particularly interesting, but Black Lightning is a character with a lot of potential.

Fun fact: he served as the Secretary of Education in the comics... for Lex Luthor. That's PRESIDENT Lex Luthor.

I'm really enjoying Happy! and Lethal Weapon.

I still like Lucifer but it's not the best season.

I've been watching The Good Place but something with it really stopped clicking with me this season. I think they got too heavily into the romance angles or something. I'm considering just dropping it honestly.

Really? I think there was a dip in episodes 4-6, but man did Good Place come back hard in the last few episodes. They're back to not pausing in plot progression at all.

Lucifer is honestly not a "season" but a set of one-shot episodes that are loosely linked together, which has led to some of the best episodes of the series and several less interesting ones, but I would argue the good outweighs the bad. The return of Charlotte, for example, was really well-handled. Also the prequel episode was surprisingly good.

Yeah I can't quite put a finger on why The Good Place isn't working for me but it's sad because I did like the first season a lot. I almost think I should just marathon it after the season is done-- they're taking awkward breaks as well which isn't helping. Like they should've made the 3 week or so break after they got on that train if at all possible. Instead they broke on I don't even know what.

Oh I should mention I hadn't watched S2 of the Good Place until this past weekend so that might've helped with my enjoyment, that I was able to burn through all of it at once.

It's okay. It's very Ryan Murphy - it's almost laughable how over the top literally everyone of the calls they get are. Once in a lifetime things happening 3+ times an episode.

But I love the cast so I can look over it for that. Angela Bassett, Peter Krause, and Connie Britton are all awesome.

I don't know a single thing about This is Us, but every time I see a picture or something of it it just looks so... manufactured? Like a forced and fake "for the masses" kind of sappy, feel-good, heartwarming whatever. It's hard to describe, but it just leaves me with absolutely no interest in seeing it.

I'm currently watching all Top Gear episodes (from 2002, probably will stop once the trio leaves) and I alternate seasons with a season of Preacher. S1 of Top Gear was kind of rough but I feel like it's moving more into the banter era already with S2.

Preacher took me a while to get into in S1 but S2 has been amazing so far, really enjoying it.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. hasn't hooked me as much as S4 but it's enjoyable.

Can't wait for Jessica Jones on March 8th.
