Thankfully Im not a cop. I don't think we should compare how a trained cop SHOULD act to how the average joe WOULD act.

People keep saying "they were told it was a hostage situation!"...then if they were so scared to the point that they'd shoot as soon as the door opened why did they approach it in that way? If you have concerns like that then maybe you should think of another way about it instead of just walking up to the door and waiting for what you believe to be an armed gunman to open it? Plenty of other cops deal with that situation just fine...

The guy who called in the false report needs to be punished severely. His actions directly caused the death of a person, dude needs to be locked up for a long fucking time.

The cop needs to have something happen to him as well. If it is shown that he was unarmed and the cop was just trigger happy then he needs to be charged as well.

I normally defend cops but based on the information in the article this guy obviously really fucked up.

he should know to threat assess a weapon or no weapon. any officer/soldier in that position should and if they cant they shouldnt do the fucking job. pretty god damn simple.
