I hit rank 5 just now. From 7 to 5 I played a combination of Raza Priest, tempo Rogue, and control warlock. The most common deck I've faced has been Paladin (slightly more murloc but still pretty even). Most decks in the zone are still pretty aggressive overall unlike a couple ranks behind where there were more cube decks.

Both rogue and warlock had about 58% win rates in the zone. Priest had about a 55% win rate.

You should always dust these cards during nerf periods because you're getting 100% of the dust. If they end up being useful later or you get buyer's remorse you can recraft for free.

Somehow I doubt cubelock is actually only the 12th best deck. There must be lots of scrubs playing it, dragging down the stats, because this isn't a QR situation where it jobs hard to stuff and just feels bad to lose to.

Someone in the comments pointed out that it might be a Patron Warrior situation, where it's easily the best deck but suffers a low winrate because of its difficulty to pilot.

In that case, "12th best deck" doesn't really make sense. I'm sure it's not the 12th best deck from rank 5 to legend.

overall based on player-gathered statistics it looks like the 11th best deck. considering this is really close to the figures that mike stated it's probably accurate. he just has access to more data than we do.

that being said I don't have a premium account so I can't check specifically for just rank 5 to Legend

if someone in this topic does have a premium account they can see how cubelock ranks in that range based on the stats we have available.

That doesn't really disprove the point made though. If players from rank 20-15 are playing it at a 40% winrate, and players from rank 5 and up are at 55%, does that make it a bad deck?

The numbers are made up for the example.

Vicious Syndicate has the numbers by rank but I'm on my phone so I can't link it at the moment.

EDIT: It goes from 10th to 6th when you switch from all ranks to legend.

Yeah, I understand. I think it's definitely an issue with how Blizzard looks at these stats. Should they really be taking into consideration games from the lowest ranks when making their claims if that doesn't represent the portion of the fanbase that cares the most about balance issues?

The reason why Warlock is low is because theres a lot of builds, Cube is worse against Aggro I think while Control is worse against Combo or Fatigue.

But they all are complete ass against Priest and thats the most popular class in the meta by far

I mean, Priest can still thrive. Theres still plenty of builds, they have a lot of good cards and Razakus can evolve from pure burst into a more, value based deck. Maybe the old Control Priest with Medivh comes back.

Big Priest beats it, Spiteful Dragon beats it (though losing Bonemare and Creeper is huge for that deck)

The problem with raza priest becoming a control deck is that that was the first thing that was done with the list. It took a couple of weeks (to a month) before the OTK list became popular and it was quickly agreed upon it was just better. That's why I don't think value raza lists are really going to be a thing. Like without the OTK they lose a lot of the advantage they have over cube and control warlock, and probably also instantly lose to big spell mage. On top of that the spiteful priest matchup swaps (right now raza is slightly favored imo. On top of that warlock is going to become the premier control deck in the format after nefs.

Big priest 100% is not the best deck. It's surely like the worst deck to play against because of high roll shit like barnes. But in actuality they dont have a lot of good matchups. That said, it preforms well against several of the decks expected to be the best after nerfs, which makes me upset because I don't want to see Big decks come back into contention. IMO the big priest/big druid meta of late 2017 was among the worst times in the game.

The thing that Priest has that can best Warlock is strong silence cards I think (and cards like Psychic Scream/Mind Control that act like Silence)

I also think that, if Murloc Paladin, Secret Mage, And Cubelock are all relevant we will start seeing more weapon removal again which hurts Skull. Maybe even Harrison Jones pops up again (though he may be too slow compared to Oozes?

If anything, this makes the "12th best deck" comment make even less sense because, as they've seen in the past, sometimes a deck doesn't have to be "the best" for it to be cancerous.

I don't think Warlock is at that point, though.

The deck is expensive to build and is selling them K+C Packs, like how Keleseth decks and Razakus sold them Frozen Throne packs

I dont see them nerfing it until either midway through next expansion or maybe a Doomguard Hall of Fame

At this point, I'm fine with it not being nerfed. Like I said, I don't think Warlock is anywhere near the Quest Rogue point of cancerous, or cancerous at all really.

It goes back to my previous point of hoping their PR reasoning (which can be different from their internal reasoning) for not nerfing it isn't that it's a bad deck, because that just seems like a poor message to be sending out when we have at least a partial representation of the stats available to us and can see how that isn't the case.

Like what happened in a challenger cup in regards to harassment? I assume it had to be big for Blizzard to comment on it. What were the details? I know about the illegal deck scenario but not the harassment one

I thought tournaments were open deck? At least I assume they are otherwise how would people know if someone played an illegal card

All tourneys are open deck, yeah

Otherwise if you know what was playing what you can just tech appropriately for that one instead of focusing on predictions on who was bringing what
