Honestly the biggest thing tanking Minwu's ability to unseat Lightning imo is I'm skeptical I have the attention span to main him for four more years till he gets stats-- and let's face it if I don't he's going to have trouble surviving long enough to gain momentum again

But I sure am going to try until the dream is dead

So what exactly does a guy have to do to get a FF8 character to win? I've participated almost all of the more recent years (wasn't around for Zell). Left the board and came back solely for this contest.

I just want an FF8 win...one time. That's all.

get as many strong characters out early as possible
bring a representative that's relatively inoffensive
bring a goat

Well I think FFVIII can win again. This year Laguna could've won if his base was more intelligent about trying to force a Laguna/Minwu final, but yeah basically

1. Get Squall or Laguna to the finals-- they're both strong enough to get there without ridiculousness
2. Get a weaker opponent to the other slot

Do those and it wins

Guess I worded that wrong, I get the strategy behind it. Been on this board for almost a decade and haven't seen a single character from my game win. What I meant to say is I'm a free agent.

I don't care which character you want to push. I will main any of the FF8 cast to see it finally come to fruition.

Cyan (actually #1 if he makes it back in)

Basch
Prompto
Barret

I'll try and help barret through boots but beyond that I don't plan on prioritizing him that much.

Lots of people say a lot of things. At one point last year I remember Chris saying he might support Lightning.

Still, i do remember saying that. It's partly why I'd like to include Sazh. Having thought about it, though, I'm just not sure how a Team XIII would work. Either it'll be like Team Eevee in SMP (where everyone is really just supporting their favorite so Team Eevee doesn't really exist) or, if people agreed to consolidate under surviving XIII characters, it's hard to imagine Lightning not winning that and I don't think too many people would join under those conditions. Once Snow went out in the 80s the fellowship would be broken.

If people find a way to make Team XIII work I guess I still have at least half a year to reconsider my priorities!

Well it's hard not to be disappointed, but I guess you just have to say too good to Cloud.

It was great seeing everything fall into place for a Laguna run, but it'll be hard to replicate that again. Thanks to everybody who helped get him so far, mostly Leon, Xuxon, VI, mnk, lhg, Drak, Bane.
