You made it sound like you were getting rid of a better future to forget your past. As for forgetting everything for a better future, I'm not sure that there's enough "better" to offset the suffering of losing your memories. Also, would we still have photos, videos, and other people remembering the stuff? It's just that we can't personally remember anything, right? And can the memories come back? Oh wait, if we forget everything, how the fuck will we remember to do basic human functions like dressing ourselves? Even with a great past you can't live through it again no matter how good your memory is. So what if I'm essentially a different person? My life will be better and I'll be experiencing it. I don't see how they could possibly cancel out. We're not 4 dimensional beings that can see past, present and future all at once.
