Imagine a world where someone can donate a million dollars they accrued in their life to give to others who are dying/losing homes/ have their lifes turned upside down... and people complaining about it.

Like, it truly is just amazing that someone could bash something like this.

It is basically like, to those bashing him, he should have just not donated anything at all because he is being put down for helping. Whether he gave a dollar; a million, or a billion, he did not have to give anything and still did.

I am sure the actual victims of the disaster are thankful for any donation, no matter how small or large, despite those sitting in their comfy homes sitting their criticizing some who chose to give to help them.

Nobody is bashing him for donating. They are rightly skeptical about whether the donation will materialize at all. I suspect if he does cut a check, it will go directly to the trump foundation instead of another organization assisting with harvey aid.

OK, let me drop some math on everyone.
Donald Trump has said he is going to donate $1 million dollars to Hurricane Harvey relief, and that is a good thing. But his White House is acting like this is a large amount. Here is some math.
Donald Trump during the campaign said the he is worth $10 Billion dollars. Forbes puts his net worth at $3.5 billion. (http://fortune.com/2016/05/23/doland-trump-net-worth/) For the sake of this exercise in math I will use both figures. Also, Business Insider places the Average Net Worth for a 45-54 year old American at $84,542 (which I will round to $85,000). (http://www.businessinsider.com/heres-the-average-net-worth-of-americans-at-every-age-2017-6)

A donation of $1 million dollars by Donald Trump would by his own estimate be .01% of his net worth.
If an average American between 45-54 donated the same percentage of their net worth it would be $8.50.

By Forbes' estimate of 3.5 billion a donation of $1 million would be .029% of his net worth. This would be the equivalent of the average American (age 45-54) donating $24.28.

Donating money to disaster relief is a nice gesture. (Though it appears slightly disingenuous when you see that his budget proposal calls for cutting $667 million from FEMA) .(http://time.com/money/4918458/trump-budget-targest-disaster-response/) But let's not allow him this narrative of him reaching deep to help out. He is not sacrificing or putting himself out to make this donation. One million dollars is a lot of money from our perspectives, but at his wealth level it is the financial equivalent of a movie for two and a box of candy (not even enough to get a popcorn as well).

*** Side note, the age bracket of 35-44 I fall in has an estimated net wealth of $35,000. The donations would be the same percentage of net worth as $3.50 (at Trump's estimated wealth) and $10 (at Forbes's estimate) for an average person in my age bracket.***

It has literally been less than a dew minutes for you to even get a response , but nice try on the self pat.

Donating isnt actually a difficult thing to do since you can donate 1-10 at almost any store you cisit at this time. The question in itself is ridiculous. Most probably have donated at least a dollar to ten dollars. Literally corresponds with Trumps donation.....income:donation ratio. Not even actually, im being generous here.

Its nothing to pat yourself on the back over for making a dollar donation.

Man I'm starting to get jealous of Trump supporters the more this topic goes on. I wish I was delusional enough to just create my own reality.

People aren't criticizing Trump for 'not donating enough.' Theyre criticizing him for the empty gesture. He plans to cut FEMA by almost 700 million. He plans to cut flood prevent efforts by almost 200 million.

It's cool though, guys. Trump is donating 1/900th of the money he's gutting from efforts like this back to Texas. What a hero!

Also for the record I've donated ten bucks and a pint of blood. Comparatively speaking that's more than the president. I don't need any praise as I'm only saying this because I know someone will ask or deflect this way. I don't need any praise from the media or anyone here. I have my sticker saying I donated. That's all I need.
