This topic may cause people to feel uncomfortable

I say "we" collectively because most people are usually scared to talk about death. Even if YOU aren't scared

Anyway, the more I think about it, the less worried I get. It's going to happen to me and anybody reading this topic

Basically, I realized that I have about ~50 years left looking at my family history.

Ever since I started thinking this way, life decisions seem to come easier . How do you feel about death? You die everyday (ok not really). The ONLY thing that makes me sad is you will never, ever contact a dead person again within this universe

It is the absolutely inescapable, 100% certainty that every single person will have to face at some point sooner or later. Every single man, woman and child alive or yet unborn -- everyone you know, have ever known, or will ever know, will join ultimately that infinitely long line of humanity marching into eternal darkness. The relentless inevitability of it is depressing; on the other hand, you'll be joining the biggest club in the world.

I thought about death a lot after my parents died. I figured it's not healthy to dwell on it for too long. Just delay it for as long as you can and fill the time you have as well as you're able, so at least you'll carry fewer regrets with you as you bump about in the box on the way to the cemetery. That's the best you can hope for.

You'll be fine

That's why you live in the moment and start valuing things that actually matter in life.

Plus the beauty is you won't even realize it's permanent!

No, but that doesn't matter. When you're awake, you know sleep isn't permanent. Similarly, when you're still alive, you know death is permanent.

When someone say they have few years to live, i slightly worried about them. Death is not like they're timed ( we dont know when we will die). It can happen 1 hour after you read this, or you can live for 100 years and still feeling strong, and you should feel afraid about whats coming before you die. The horrible pain that will strike you so hard like your life being ripped from you and then you get the eternal peace

if death is like sleep then I will embrace it fully. I love sleep. but what gets me is why religious folk who have lived good lives and surely will go to heaven (or at least they think) would be afraid of death.

its just assumed, and a easy assumption to make that if their is no after life it will be like sleep but with no dreaming going on.

This. I go to sleep and be put to sleep knowing their is a very high chance I'll wake up. Death on the other hand is permanent. Sure I won't feel or even think a thing when I'm dead but that doesn't mean I want my time to run out and the very thought of it doing so one day is a scary thought for me.

Even more so that my older sister died young and I've not experienced what I want out of life. I spend most of my life working towards those goals though as that's all I can do. Even if it's futile in the end. I guess it's about the journey not the destination for me.

that wouldn't be the part i'd be scared about, leaving the world and all the things in it you love would be the part i'd be scared about. which is why im more confused on christians that have no reason to worry about going to hell fearing it. they get to go to a paradise where one day all their loved ones should join them

On that note more power to them in believing in a afterlife. It probably makes the thought of death more comforting. I'd imagine religion itself makes a lot of things more comforting come to think of it.

alot still fear death though, which to me can only mean one of two things, their is some doubt in their heart that the religion is true or they don't feel confident enough that they'll actually go to heaven. which in itself is odd as some specific groups of Christianity all one must do is repent and ask forgiveness. which I imagine being truly sorry can't be that hard if you truly believe in hell.

to be honest i'm only scared of the process of dying. either its long and miserable. short but intensely painful. or just instant and was unexpected meaning you had no time to say any goodbyes or shit like that

I've always assumed that most people (including me) are afraid of waking up in Hell or in some sort of oblivion in which you can't do or feel anything but are somehow still aware. I assume that some people (not me) also have kids and/or parents they need to take care of.

I just wonder if ghosts exists or not.
I know a couple of people who absolutely believe in ghosts and even claim to have experienced them.

One really creepy thing that happened last year or so; my cousin's 5 year old daughter have described my dead grandpa in great detail.
My grandpa died over a decade before she was even born.
No one had ever talked about my grandpa with her beforehand either and yet she still somehow knew miniscule details such as that he drove a small white car and always wore a cap(among other things).
