Outside of Barnes, what else do you want to pull out of Big Priests hand? Seems like every other card would be a positive for the Priest player.

I dunno, I'm just winging it, I'm just tired of barnes pulling out ysera into eternal servitude ysera.

Also, as a mage, like everything else would also be good "if" I were holding a polymorph or a meteor, since ysera/lich king/yshaarj all trigger on their own turn. Although i realize the hazard here is that if I wait too long to play dirty rat, he probably already got the barnes combo off already, and if I do it turn 2 it runs a very big risk of pulling out literally any other card with no way to destroy it for me. But hey, I gotta try at least once.

Did burn mage just have a good showing in a tournament or something? I just lost 4 games in a row to mage decks that are build like quest mage except with no quest. I lost all of them to pyroblast face and I'm very confused.

Burn Mage has been prevalent in the meta since before Frozen Throne hit. Basically as soon as everyone embraced how utterly broken Primordial Glyph is.

{Hunter}

Game 5: Vs Warlock. I went Second. I was eating while playing so I didn't take detailed notes. Started off strong but then got wrecked by Cobalt Scalebane. Then, out of nowhere, Bright-Eyed Scout into Charged Devilsaur for the save on turn 9. This got me back onto the board and gave me a fighting chance. He topdecks venture co mercenary and puts me out of my misery. Loss.

Game 6: Vs Warlock. I went Second. Fuck me, again? No turn 2 play in hand this time so I guess that's just it. Opponent got insanely lucky draws allowing him favorable trade after favorable trade, capping off at playing multiple Bonemares to completely seize the lategame advantage. Very fun stuff. Loss.

Final Result: 3-3

Meh, whatever. I love going second 5 out of 6 times in a run and it ending prematurely as a result. Seems very fair.

I Was Offered: Warlock/Shaman/Paladin
I Picked: Warlock


I don't seem to do very well with Paladin, even though it's supposedly a tier 1 class. Funny enough one of the main reasons I started playing Paladin in constructed way back was because it was one of the few arena classes I did really well with. Funny that I can't do very well with Paladin anymore but it seems like the class identity in arena is "hope you get lucky and draft multiple copies of broken cards like spikeridged steed." and, indeed, I am not good at that.

The Draft: This is telling me that Devilsaur Egg is better than Book Wyrm but that literally cannot be right. Whatever, I don't give a shit. I pick the Devilsaur Egg even though it seems like my odds of drafting an activator in arena are insanely low. Bloodreaver Gul'Dan as my second synergy pick. This is my first death knight draft of the season and it's a very good one. Aw yeah. I picked up a few demons, a copy of Defile, and the new Spell Damage +1 Divine Shield Minion. A pretty solid and seemingly consistent deck. We'll see how it actually does in the current hearthstone arena meta.

Game 1: Vs Paladin. I went First. Got a few low cost cards in my hand, too. Got rushed down and killed on turn 8. Oh yeah. Forgot which game I was playing for a minute there. Loss.

Game 2: Vs Rogue. I went Second. Not completely terrible opening hand. Got insane Despicable Dreadlord value on turn 5, killing exactly two minions that I brought down to exactly 1 health. Heh heh. Also dropped Abyssal Enforcer onto a board with his 3 health minions and my devilsaur egg. Wow. If that last game was the absolute bottom of this deck, this is the absolute top performance. I killed HIM by turn 8 this time. So either way no chance of Bloodreaver. Win.

Game 3: Vs Warrior. I went First. Man it's ridiculous how consistently I keep getting good opening hands with THIS deck, but with the ones that are all good early game cards I somehow consistently struggle to draw into them by turn 2/3. Oh well, whatever. Drew Bloodreaver Gul'Dan with Doomguard in hand. Uh, guess this means I just can't play the Doomguard? Or what is the proper procedure here? I decide to risk it, figuring the short term tempo gain is more valuable than a play that is still several turns away. And the odds are fairly- oh, yep, there he goes. Bloodreaver Gul'Dan discarded of course. My board is actually so ridiculous already at this point that it doesn't even matter. Game ended before turn 10 so it was apparently still the best play. Win.

This deck is fucking insane by the way. It's even more insane that I somehow lost my FIRST game and that it wasn't even close. What even is this arena meta. Like seriously, what in the hell.

Game 4: Vs Warlock. I went First. Finally a not great opening hand. Not that I'm happy about it, but statistically this is more what I'd expect from this deck. Got completely crushed here by tempo. The insane thing is that I have tons of removal and board control tools and I used almost all of them pretty well here. Paladin game I lost was the same way too. But it's like these guys just have hands that never seem to run out of value and I have no idea how or why. Loss.

Game 5: Vs Priest. I went Second. A very slow game. Neither of us did much of anything before turn 4 or 5. I drew Gul'Dan early on so I knew that if I made it to turn 10 I'd probably be okay. While playing this game I think I realized the weakness of the deck. It actually has TOO MANY efficient removal tools. There was a point where I was holding nothing but answers in my hand and left a ton of mana floating as a result. This guy literally got Ysera off of Netherspite Historian AND Lich King off of Forbidden Shaping. I still won. Without playing Bloodreaver Gul'dan. This is going to become a running joke at this point, isn't it? Odds seem pretty high I won't even get to play the card before this run ends. Win.

I always just stick with the default card back, too. So imagine what's going through their minds when they see an opening like turn 1 pass turn 2 murloc tidehunter or faerie dragon. Probably assume it's somebody who just picked up the game that week or something.

Big Priest runs something like 10 minions total, including rez effects. I laugh at that deck when I play Taunt Warrior because it literally can't win without godmoding.

I mean, I won the game, it just took 5 turns longer than it should've.

Mage went 5-1 for me to finish off the Brawl quest I managed to get. Draw and stall until you have Violet Illusionist and 30 burn in hand. Only game I lost was to a Face Hunter that literally wasn't playing any spells.

{Warlock}

Game 6: vs Priest. I went Second. Got Hyldnir Frostrider in my opening hand, and a bunch of removal spells. Drew Bloodreaver Gul'Dan early on. Doomgaurd on turn 5 discards it once again. I fucking swear it is programmed to laser in on this card. I think discard mechanics will literally always suck for this reason. This is pretty bad because unlike the last time, we actually end up going into a long term value game. Bloodreaver would have INSTANTLY won me the game probably, while Doomguard did not at the time. Luckily I managed to outplay and outvalue him anyway. Win.

Game 7: Vs Paladin. I went Second. Clunky opening hand. Made a pretty sick Hyldnir Frostrider play on turn 6. Bonemare on 7. I definitely seized some late game value despite falling behind early. That being said this is a Paladin we're talking about and I could not really let down my guard. He went all in on Vinecleaver. Unfortunately, this did not end well for him. Win.

Going to eat dinner now. Wish I had time to play more games but welp Priest.

I get offered Coldlight Seer all the damn time in my synergy picks. I never take it, because it's shit if you don't get any other murlocs.

In my most recent draft, I finally said fuck it, let's believe in the murloc dream. Took two of the seers early as well as zoobot and menagerie magician.

**** the last 2 dickbags I just played in arena, the first pulled the ****ing lich king from a stonehill defender, which then proceeded to give him the only card that could have won it for him, Frostmourne. **** the next guy even more, because he turns the tide by getting primalfin lookout, into lookout, into lookout. TWICE. IN TWO TURNS. THEN pulls a natural lich king giving him probably the only card that could have won that one for him too! (the one that summons minions while removing non-minions.) It gave him 2 ****ing taunts when I could have gone face for the win.
