Because she isn't taking damage? The point of a tank is to absorb damage, not completely dissolve it. D.Va herself gets destroyed pretty quickly when she's actually tanking.

By this logic Reinhardt isn't a tank because he doesn't take damage, his shield does.

That doesn't affect the function of the ability, though - there's no practical difference if Reinhardt blocks a bunch of Junkrat grenades or D. Va eats them, because either way the grenades don't do damage to the tank's team.

Actually there is, because Reinhardt's shield sustains damage and can't be used to strategically block all incoming damage without being destroyed. Defense matrix doesn't run out of charge due to incoming damage, it runs out because you held it down too long.

I think the issue is that we're operating on different definitions of "tanking".

I define tanking as preventing damage to your team.

You define it as taking damage in the place of your team (I think? Unless I'm misinterpreting you).

So under my definition, Defense Matrix is a tanking ability because it prevents your team from taking damage; under your definition it isn't because an attack absorbed by the matrix doesn't do damage to anything.

Reinhardt and Dva both nullify enemy damage, they just do it in slightly different ways (which is good for diversity). Nerfing Dva's nullify damage ability hurts her ability to reduce taken damage by her team (which is the point of tanking). So she's objectively less of a tank than before.

Good. Tank/Healing was utterly broken in the previous meta. Tanks were DPSs that never died thanks to healers. The only actual DPS worth using was Reaper, specifically because he was good at killing tanks. All they've done is shift the balance back to a state that's more...well, balanced, so DPS doesn't feel like a waste of time.

Mercy changes are also good. Heroes Never Die was horrible to play against.

The problem is that they're basically uncounterable except by hitscan heroes and Hanzo, and even then it requires way more skill to stop them than they require to operate.

You're right, though. The heroes are fine on their own, it's only the combination that's a problem. I don't know how to fix that, but I do know that letting a Mercy instarez her Pharah just whenever instead of as an ult is only going to make it worse.

They could lower the height Pharah can reach with her flight. The main reason they're so hard to deal with is because they can fly well outside the damage range of everybody who isn't a sniper so guys who should be able to deal with one or both pretty well can't really do shit for damage to them. I get it's part of her design, but there's really no reason Pharah should get to fly 2,000 feet above everybody while having 0 damage falloff with her rockets.

You don't even need to be good with Pharah to wreck with Pharmercy because Pharah's rockets have very generous splash damage range and no falloff

I wouldn't mind a Widow buff depending on how far they take it. Winston and D.Va are common as hell and make her job miserable if not almost impossible. There are so many poor Widowmakers the only thing that would make her truly terrifying is an insane aim buff of some kind. In my 1,000 hours I have seen maybe 10 good Widows.

I'm curious what makes it so better for them. The hook cooldown is nicer, but you're still getting bullied by D.Va and Winston. The mine thing I just see people waiting until it wears off before coming out of hiding. I'm still curious to see them in action though.

Having a bit of extra mobility certainly helps. And a good Widow can follow up on the venom mine thing, and even if they wait, it'll prevent a flank better than it currently does at the very least.

Still, the change will barely ever matter for the people we play with and against.

My experience both with and against him has seen him become a pretty easy kill. The hook is easy to dance around most of the time and his fatass makes him too easy to hit.

I've played Roadhog twice since the nerf and don't intend to play him ever again even after the patch.
