It's not that he's dead, it's that he gave up his power to give her a chance, but now she's alone in this isolated frozen environment where she has very little chance of survival. i think it works quite well


the problem with this cinematic is that she just walks out of there and apparently is going to be fine. if her mission climbing the tower helped this in some way, it would be better.... but if she could just walk out the whole time then what were the stakes?

She had no motivation before. Overwatch was shut down and widely considered to be criminals. Mei had been abandoned at the south pole for years, and no one was going to come looking for her, plus all her friends were dead. Hearing Winston's call to arms convinced her that actually, Overwatch can still do some good and maybe all the data she's been collecting can still help people.

(the real plot hole here is if she could rig up a portable solar panel to charge up her robot why didn't the base itself have solar panels - running solely on battery power when you're entirely reliant on outside supply for everything else seems like a really bad idea)

(especially if you're going to trust your lives to cryogenic equipment that needs that battery power to keep you alive)

Looked like she had solar panels on her back when she was outside so Snowball likely recharged that way if so. I thought it was a nice short though it doesn't really say how she got anywhere. I mean she was walking in Antarctica so....maybe she used her gun to freeze a long ass bridge across the ocean or something.

I wish they could release these things faster. There are so many origins to cover and we have almost nothing on Overwatch 2.0 other than it having Winston and Tracer as members I think.

Big Mercy changes on PTR right now. Her Resurrect is now a regular ability and her Ultimate lets her fly through the sky quickly along with some other stuff.



I think her Res is single target only now so uh makes her trophy impossible for anybody that doesn't already have it.

Oh she has infinite ammo during her ult too. Looks like we got a Pharah counter >_> <_<

These Mercy changes might seriously bring me back into the game. Resurrect was a bad ability for a lot of reasons and I'm glad that they finally realized it's not fun to wipe the enemy team and watch them all come back to life 2 seconds later.

Any ability that REWARDS dying is not a good design choice.

you're supposed to revive 4 people at the same time

it might not count if you have to do it one at a time

The biggest issue this has is Mercy is now incredibly fast and can zoom through the air effectively making her the single worst character to try to shoot on console. Like if Pharah could blink through the sky is how it looks. Using her Ultimate resets her cooldowns too so you can Res, ult and Res again. Also seeing people say her damage and healing beams connect to everybody in range during her Ultimate too so uh wowza

Motivation is fine but she already seemed kind of motivated eapecially after Snowballs sacrifice, and the video kinda established earlier that there was no way for them to survive once the power was out. What was stopping them from just walking out then?


That ending just doesn't make much sense, especially when you think about her being in the Antarctic with nowhere to walk to. The entire situation was created in this location specifically to give an atmosphere of isolation with nowhere to go... and the solution is to just... go?

New D. Va sounds like less of a tank and more of a DPS, which is weird because they went the exact opposite direction when they changed Roadhog.

My favorite thing about this is that they are actually getting closer and closer to putting an actual ubercharge in this game... just make the Valkyrie mode multi-heal like 2x as strong and it's essentially a Quick-Fix uber (which is a super weak uber but good enough in the context of this game).

30 second cooldown

How long does it take to charge up a rez on average now? About 90 seconds? So 1/3rd the time for the cooldown probably makes sense. 45 seconds might be even better so they can make it more rare that you get 2-3 rezzes off in a life.

Nanoboosted Mercy using her Ultimate. Move over Pharah because now Mercy rains (death) from above

I just realized this will make Pharmercy even more frustrating to fight. If your Widow or Hanzo does kill Pharah, Mercy can just bring her back immediately.

I still can't believe they haven't nerfed Pharmercy. It's been the biggest complaint for a long time and the "checks/counters" to it on console aren't very reliable. I mean they completely neutered Roadhog and yet Pharah with a pocket Mercy is worse than he ever was

oh wow this looks like it'll actually be fun to play as mercy instead of just being stressful when those changes hit!

They also took away half of D.Va's tanking ability and gave her DPS though. Let's not forget they nerfed Lucio's healing range and increased his dps and Mercy's new Ultimate gives her infinite ammo while she flies all over the place. In Roadhog's case I don't even know if you can call him a tank. We don't have his "buff" yet, but he's basically just a human shield and a worse one than Reinhardt, Winston or Zarya. They nerfed him so hard he has no place.

The defense matrix isn't tanking, it's eating damage. It's still there, it just takes more skill to use effectively. Same with Lucio, in that they nerfed the range and increased damage, because he wasn't engaging, and now he needs more skill to use. I don't know what to tell you on Mercy. It's an ultimate. That's kind of the point. You should probably be healing, but if nobody needs healing while you use it, then may as well have something that makes it worthwhile and not a waste. And tanking is exactly what Roadhog's job is now, and his new mobility makes him look pretty damn effective. Just because we don't have it yet doesn't mean it's not happening, because it obviously is.

Eating the damage helps a lot though because it not only saves yourself it saves allies as well. It being half of what it was means D.Va can't use it nearly as often. I don't think it even lasts the duration of Zarya's Ultimate after the change which is pretty huge since you could otherwise eat a ton of the damage your team might take. I know we are getting the Roadhog changes. After seeing them in action on the PTR and stuff I don't think it's gonna help much. Nobody is going back to Roadhog until his damage is buffed imo

So what sticks out to me most is the Res change practically nullifies the getting picks out the gate with an Attack Widow stray (very prevelant on King's Row, where about a third of the matches have an Attack Widow that never leaves spawn).

Anything that lowers Widow pickrate is fine by me.

Because she isn't taking damage? The point of a tank is to absorb damage, not completely dissolve it. D.Va herself gets destroyed pretty quickly when she's actually tanking.

Yes, it made her extremely valuable but extremely unengaging. Like, that was the biggest complaint they aimed to address. The "proper" D.Va play was focused almost entirely around defense matrix and managing that. Sure, it was a good ability, but not a fun one. This change serves to make D.Va more fun, while keeping that utility there for players who can learn how to use it efficiently.

I mean, I remember Lucio before the range nerf. He was super useful and easy to play, but one of the most boring in the game. I remember being annoyed by the changes before they took place because it sounded like he was going to become useless, since you were removing part of what made him so easy to be effective with. But obviously I was wrong, since now he's even more effective in the right hands, and also way more fun to play since speed boost feels like a necessary part of his toolkit for actual battle, and his Amp it Up can't just be thrown out constantly against an actual threat. It made me realize, "Hey, maybe game designers actually know how to make the games more fun." The only change that ever felt really bad was that initial Bastion buff, but they fixed that up pretty quickly.
