Camilla is pretty weak. I think a green mage like Nino would suit your team better. Take advantage of skill inheritance if you haven't yet. My recommendations are :

Ephraim - Teach him hone speed and either rally defense or resistance. If you have the resistance seal, give it to him. Quick Riposte would make for a good b skill.

Tharja - Her base skills are pretty good. Give her desperation as a b skill, and draw back for movement assist.

Ryoma - Give him fury, vantage, and reposition.

Moonbow is a pretty good special to give Tharja and Ryoma as well, but I'd focus on teaching them skills above first. Those three make for a pretty good core for the story. Make sure you keep Tharja beside Ephraim to begin each turn, and she should be able to do most of the heavy lifting.

I gave Swordbreaker to Tharja and that has worked pretty well for TT, but sometimes I wish she had Desperation.

Just curious, Yankees, you spent 10 more orbs in addition to the 260 you already spent and that's when you got SCorrin? You must have driven the 5* rate pretty high then before you had to hunt for more orbs.

Yeah, my pity rate got pretty high a couple times. My first 120ish orbs had nothing, then I had hot stretch. Xander and Elise in one session. Then I got Xander on back to back sessions soon after that. And then Ryoma and Leo back to back. I think I hit 4% before I grinded the trials for two more attempts.

You don't have any extra Shannas? Desperation makes a huge difference in Tharja's effectiveness

finally got Lloyd Infernal done. after Sonya wasn't helping much i cheesed it with Camilla flying back and forth at the bottom and picked them off one by one. figures, my first ever 5* that i rarely use anymore gets the job done. even with -spd she had exactly enough to quad the archer, and did its exact HP in damage. almost like they designed it to be killed by her. the mage and lance both needed Eirika's buffs but luckily i was able to kill them on the left with Lloyd hanging out on the right. only the archer had to be killed on the right.

Leo should make the finals on the male side. I think Robin has a chance to beat Corrin on the female side but it will likely be Corrin who wins. I'm not sure if there are any rule changes. So far each tournament has had slightly different rules than the previous one.

I have pleeeenty of Shanna's, I just couldn't really decide if Desperation would be much better for her than a -breaker skill. The builds I looked at didn't use Desperation.

Also, this inheritance tier list has me raising my eyebrows at a lot of placements.

Tharja carries my arena team, and there is no way she would be able to do so with any skill other than desperation. If you have desperation to spare, she is one of the best units you can put it towards.

Don't put much stock in any tier list. A lot of characters can become good when you invest in building them.

Cherche and Est are there because of their brave builds. Neither are very good otherwise, and Est is outclassed by Cordelia in that regard.

Shanna because of Firesweep lance. But again, Cordelia is better so not worth bothering.

Sanaki and Lilina beside Celica, Tharja, and Katarina doesn't add up to me.

Fae can be useful as a check to blues like Reinhardt when inheriting lightning breath and possibly triangle adept. I think that's a function of the meta being blue heavy.

Beruka can tank pretty well with 40 defense and hit hard with Ignis.

I think Swordbreaker is better on my Tharja specifically for TT since I won't be using a blue unit this time on my preliminary team (using Nino/Olivia/Tharja/Gray) and I need someone other than Nino who can double sword units. If I end up getting Ninian, things can change.

I won't have any gauntlet units to use this time, so am I better off just picking the perceived favorite from the get-go?

I think joining Team Corrin is likely the best plan if you don't have any bonus units. Keep in mind that the biggest factor in getting a high rank is hitting those bonus periods, most of which are in the dead of night at the start of a round if you live in the US. If you don't stay up for them, your rank will usually be poor even with a bonus character.

Oof. Don't have any of the Nohr units yet. At least I got 3 of 4 Awakening units so I'll definitely still be live for R2.

So I dunno how people typically pull, but I used to always do the 20 pulls when I wasn't really going for anybody specific. I barely ever got a 5, much less one of the banner people, doing it that way

Lately, I've switched to only pulling one on the color of whoever I want, backing out, then going back in and pulling one again, etc. etc. Like, I wanted Corrin today, so I went in, pulled a blue, backed out, went back in, pulled a blue. On my third one, I got her.

I've gotten atleast one or two people that I want from each banner by doing it this way, and haven't spent more than 25-30 orbs on a single banner.

There's probably actually nothing to it, but I figured I'd mention it.

I think this is what most people do. If I don't want a particular character, I don't pull at all. When I do, I focus on that color. I've had pretty fortunate luck doing it outside of this banner. Took me 270 orbs pulling blues to get Corrin

Well, yeah, I figured people focus on a single color. I meant moreso that I only do one of a color before I back out, even if there are multiple. I've found that if I do 2 or 3 of the same color on one set, I get duplicates of who I just pulled at an alarming rate.

Due to how character generation works, you are more likely to get a 5* unit when you pull on a focus colour compared to non-focus colours. This is because the rates given in game are across all orbs. However, you can use the knowledge from the orb colours to do better than the overall average. The exact percentages vary between different banners. For example this person worked out the rates for the Nohrian summer banner:

Bonus hours are triggered when one characters falls below 90% of the votes of the other character. Using that information and the number of votes gain by each character over the last hour, I can predict when the next bonus hour is. For everyone except Elise, the next bonus hour is projected to be long after the first round ends so it's pretty safe to say it won't happen.

It can but it is unlikely enough for Elise to overtake Corrin. None of the previous boosts put Elise above Corrin.

Blame the time zones. Once the bonus hours ended, Gaius's only cuts came when America was largely asleep. Since the start of matches favors the Japanese fanbase, though...

Also, 50.00033375%-49.99966625%. That's in our terms, where percentages add up to 100. Because of the way bonuses work, however, their trackers usually calculate it so that the two percentages have a product of 100%, rather than a sum. So it's 100.00133500% vs. 99.99866499%

I checked on my calculator because their trackers just said 100.00%-100.00%. And rightly so; you'd need three decimal places in their method to get it away from even, and by the way a GameFAQs contest works...We'd need four decimal places for it to not appear as 50-50. Who had that in their Oracle?

I'd like to hear others' opinion on this. I think in the long-run, you want to pull on all the color orbs you want in a single summon because you not only increase the rate, you also save more orbs.

I know this is true, but my own experiences have tended to lean "You know this 3* you just pulled? Have this exact same one again." when I pull multiple of the same color on one session. I can't bring myself to not do the 5 then 5 since I've had 10,000x the luck doing it that way.

How the hell did Corrin catch up so quickly without bonuses? I've been battling at almost every opportunity since my day began and thought Corrin would have a bonus period, but I didn't see any. It's so hard for me to rank high in these things.
