Not necessary. Vets are a type of doctor. For your pet. Dentists are doctors for your teeth. Doctor doesn't have to mean just the typical "doctor", it does in fact MEAN medical practitioner.

Things I have issues with:

Chansey: Not sure how this one qualifies. If anything, it is a healer type Pokemon and this is not a contest for healers. In the anime, it's little more than an assistant to something I would also not consider a real doctor. All I ever recall happening was the Chansey pushing around a stretcher.

Lucy Von Pelt: Very fringe. It could be possible for anyone to qualify if they were just giving out psychiatric advice. Not really sure I want this kind of character in.

Mumbo Jumbo: Shaman, not what I'm going for. Shamans are mystical healers, much like a RPG healer character and I'm not going for that in this contest.

Professor Plum: Rather unhappy with this nom. I know he's a psychiatrist in the movie, but historically he's a professor... in the Clue game that is.

Sam Beckett: Struggling to recall any practical use of his medical doctorate. Having one is not worth being on this list alone, you have to actually put it to use as a major part of your character.

Whiskey: While I'm not all that familiar with the show, I can't seem to find anything at all on the wikia about her being a doctor.

After leaving Harrenhal, when Qyburn checks on Jaime's healing stump, Jaime notes that Qyburn's work is far superior to that of Grand Maester Pycelle

Qyburn tells him that it was for performing experiments on living humans in order to learn more about their anatomy and justifies his actions by noting that he used the information he gleaned from them to save lives

better maester than the grand maester!

Yeah Mumbo was one I was iffy with on nominating but did so anyway cause why not. He does help a sick dinosaur in Banjo Tooie and is specifically referred to as a doctor in game IIRC, but it was magic based and he is a Shaman so

Longer explanation for Whiskey: She is introduced as Claire Saunders, but eventually revealed to be one of the dolls who has been programmed as the doctor. When she eventually learns who she really is, she shrugs the programming somewhat and leaves the Dollhouse. Her programming was designed to utilize her as a doctor. She had for all intents and purposes, complete medical training and she does work as a doctor.

I did not nominate Sam just because he has a medical degree. He used his medical training to try to help people who were injured on many occasions throughout the series.

Just to name a few of the many instances of Sam using his training as a doctor (all from different episodes):

- On the first episode, he gives medical advice that prevents a premature birth to doctors who didn't know what to do
- He uses his medical training to try to help an injured child during rioting (a scene shown during the opening credits)
- He uses his medical training to resuscitate a child who almost drowned
- He saves someone injured in a car crash by stopping her bleeding

These are just a few examples off the top of my head. On top of which, Sam's medical training was frequently mentioned and vital to his character. It was the first thing he remembered about himself after having amnesia from his initial leap, he used his medical training to recite information from a medical book from memory to prove who he really was, and his medical knowledge motivated him to try to save his father from health issues by giving advice (again all different episodes).

Oh man I hope me last second nominating Todd and Doc isn't what knocks Nurse Ratched out

It's a huge running gag with her character though. She has a booth and everything. In a world where the adults aren't seen and only heard in that weird sound, she's the one the other characters go to for advice (bad as it may be)

The one incarnation he's a character and not just a game piece. The movie is a cult classic and if he's a psychiatrist in the film, I don't see the issue.

You can be both a professor and a practicing doctor. Active medical professionals often teach medical students through clinicals and classroom instruction. Plum having both to his name should not DQ him.

Yeah, for this reason I'd also include her. The whole "psychiatrist" routine is a big part of her character, and the other characters pretty much treat it as legit in-universe (even though it's actually not).

I don't remember if he was allowed in Detectives or not, but I feel like it should be treated the same way.

The difference was that everyone knows Lucy is not a psychiatrist, she just dupes them into paying her money. The other character was for all intents and purposes a detective until a major twist.

it's not remotely the same. he wasn't just pretending to be a detective in general, he was exactly mimicking the behavior of a particular individual. i mean if you want to be technical, the dead character was the one nominated and the imposter was the lens for the audience to get to know that character.

Lucy definitely shouldn't be in. Mantis Toboggan is different as Frank produced a video of himself playing that character, which just makes Mantis a fictional character who actually is a doctor on another meta level. though i could still understand disqualifying him.
