My dad and sister texted me today saying to come out to my dad's for Easter dinner. I didn't even know Easter was today until yesterday at 9pm when I was at a restaurant and the server mentioned they were going to be closed. That was quite the revelation as to how important Easter is to me as an adult. It's obviously meaningless to me, yet my family still pressures on me to do 'Easter stuff'. I know they're just being nice and inviting me, but the reality is you have to call your own shots and do your own thing. Hopefully you aren't letting your family influence you away from where you want to be out of fear you will disappoint them. No, it's just I fly home since it's also Spring Break, and I go to college 2,000 miles away, and since I'm at home I don't have an excuse not to go. Immediately after that they went for lunch, so I feel it would've been rude to just say no and stay home.
