I'm going to have to move again in a few months and I am not looking forward to it. I just have too much shit, but at the same time, I don't really have a whole lot I think I can get rid off. Like I have a lot of game consoles, some of which I probably could part with, but I know I'd regret it down the line once I settle into a more permanent place. It's not really an issue of having space for me, but just not wanting to lug it all around every year

I've already chucked about as much clothing as I can. It's a bit of a help, but there's still way too much stuff overall.

I don't really even want to move this time, but my roommate does and I don't think I can find anybody else who I'd want to live with that is available. It seems like I either get a place I end up hating, or one I like but the other people I'm dependent on to help pay decide to leave.

I own waaaay too many video games, but even so, it's the ones I can't find that I miss.

Can't find my DS super mario 64, can't find my original Kingdom Hearts (just part II), etc.

Nothing as annoying as knowing you have something (or had) but not being able to find it anymore.

GRRRRRR.

Yeah but I try to throw shit out.

The issue is gifts, I don't want to throw away things people give me because I feel like that would be rude, even if they don't know about it. But most shit I'm given isn't shit I want.

I've been thinking about getting rid of my desktop in favor of a laptop. I already own a laptop but I bought it more as a supplement to my desktop, so I don't know how it would work as a full-time PC. It's not very powerful, but I don't usually need power for very much anyway. My bigger concern I guess would be how long it lasts seeing everyday use, because I've had bad experiences with laptops and durability issues in the past.

If I could get rid of my CRT that would be nice. Don't they have stuff you can filter your video through to make old games look good on an HDTV? It's probably really expensive though

Normally every time I move I only take what I can fit in my truck, which is a decent amount.

But now I've got furniture that I kinda like so I'll probably have to get a trailer.

When I first got it delivered it was carried in by one guy so I thought it wasn't that heavy. Then when I moved it around a bit to get it on my bed I realized it was kind of heavy, but it wasn't until I had to really lift it off the ground and carry it when I last moved that I realized how bad it was. Even with another person, we struggled to keep it off the ground because of how heavy it was. Honestly, if I had realized that earlier on, I probably would've just returned it because it really is an inconvenience.

Yes. My sister worked at GameStop at one point and would buy games and gaming merchandise with her employee discount. Now there's too much stuff from older consoles. They need to be more organized, but I don't even know where to start.

Especially the Nintendo crap with all their extra console/controller attachments (and those music games too: guitar hero, rockband, whatever else).

Is there any chance I have of recuperating its value? I know computers depreciate like crazy, but are there any good buyback programs or something?

I just bought the mattress, and mattresses ain't cheap, so I'm not going to just abandon it. Plus I don't think I could be comfortable sleeping in a hammock regularly and I also want to appear to be a normal adult

Edit: I mean, obviously I would try to sell if I did get rid of it, but it would probably be at a huge loss. I think I'm past the point of that being viable and just gotta get a decent ten years or so out of it.

when I moved out of my parents house I took my guitar, my laptop, and a suitcase full of clothes. took it over on the bus. it was nice.

of course, next time I moved it was horrible. I had about twice as many clothes plus now I had pillows and bedsheets, a skateboard and some kitchenware... I took 3 round trips on the bus with it all. Regret that, should have just asked a coworker to help...

No furniture?

No, both my rooms came with a bed and desk. Lots of people in that city are housing students in lightly furnished basement slums. Basically a dormitory business to make up for the universities' inability to create sufficient student housing. I was only there for 8 months for my internship so it suited me well enough.

It's less about how much you own and more about what you own. Some people who struggle can own tons of stuff, none of it useful. And some people who don't own much can thrive. Honestly, when I was visiting a multi-million dollar mansion in Greenwich a few years ago, I was surprised by how few items were actually about the place. Even the library wasn't that full.

Yes, and I don't even own all that much. I prefer being a minimalist when it comes to things in my house.

I have a bed, dresser, couch, table, 4 chairs, TV stand, TV, coffee table, computer, desk, office chair. I have very few things on my walls. I don't like owning too many things, and I'd like to live somewhere with a bar counter (I used to) so I could get rid of my table.

I'm in the middle of moving across the country and I've been getting rid of most of my non-essential or easily replaceable items. I did the same thing when I moved four years ago and I didn't really think I obtained a whole lot of things since then, but I'm finding soooo many things. I found schoolwork from back in high school. I graduated in 2014! But I was able to find some records with my student number on it so that'll help for applying to college after I move.

I've moved around a lot in my life and I'm kinda realizing that having a lot of stuff just weighs you down. Almost everything is replaceable, although a lot of things don't make sense to replace if you don't need to. Clothes, my computers, my game stuff, that's about all I can think of that I wouldn't want to have to replace.

What do you consider easily replaceable? I have furniture that I got for cheap and have had for a long time and yeah, I could probably get rid of and replace it, but that kind of just ends up being the same amount of work to move in the end. It's just that you're separating it out a bit more so it isn't a taxing short burst of work.

I just hope whenever I do end up moving I'll get a solid window of like a week that I'll be able to use.
