That's what we had to do to DG because there was like two games she held hostage and a couple other she ruined by being a lunatic. Well, also she threatened to murder Corrik IRL so that might've contributed to her ban too I guess.

Full disclosure, I couldn't bring myself to look at this topic again for the longest time last night / today because I was posting while drinking yesterday and got embarrassed.

Lopen I apologize if I was hyper defensive and/or abrasive toward you. I get way invested in these games (I seriously never post if I'm not currently in a mafia game) and when they end I tend to vent, even if it's mostly unrelated things that are causing me to need to vent. Mafia sort of becomes a medium for blowing off steam from real life stuff.

neon kinda made my point better than I did, which was pretty much that if you change the town players, you change the scum tactics, too. Like it's not my job to fool the observers or the dead town. You thought I was obvious scum, but nobody in the game was challenging me (which I realize is the point you were making), so there was no need for me to play better or go out of my way to do more. If I'd tried to go above and beyond to make a great case for a lynch or whatever, I'd have needlessly put myself at a greater risk. So yeah, I didn't do anything spectacular, but it's because there was no need to try. We're both kinda right I guess.

My whole point was that town sucks for not even pointing that out. The fact that you made that glaring vote was a problem in your play either way though regardless of whether it was pointed out or not. Maybe you could have argued your way out of it, maybe you couldn't have, but I think that's a strong enough start for a push that you'd be very much on the back foot if anyone had pointed it out. Obviously I'm not saying you should've pre-emptively defended it after the fact as that would draw attention to it needlessly-- maybe not making the vote, timing it differently, or justifying the vote a bit better in the moment could've helped, but after it was done you played as well as you could have regarding that.

Like, it's easy to think that. Makes sense at a glance. But I think the game is so subjective that you can't just cut it that simply. Hypothetically, if two different scum players get the same results, with one being called scummy a lot and the other one not, what's the criteria for saying one is better? If they have the same record against the same towns, it becomes more of a personal preference. Two different styles of play, which different personalities take advantage of differently.

In the end, if you don't get lynched, it's irrelevant whether people suspected you along the way. That's my opinion.

Problem with Lopen's reasoning is that Bad Town regularly does things you are pointing to and if you lynched everyone who did those things then you would mislynch to the point you would stop relying on that as a read.

Puns did not seem to be town because he wasn't very logical all game and trying to figure out the game as he does as Town. The only day he exuded his town traits was the final day.

Yeah at the root of all this is the fact that mafia always has been and always will be a completely subjective matter, but as people play and develop they all create their own individual idea of what is "objectively" right/wrong or good/bad. I don't think we can ever escape that.
