By a final score of 22-19 (you can't vote twice lefty!) Ezio has defeated Himura Kenshin to become King of the Mountain! This was the closest final we've had yet, and in my opinion, the fourth time the posterchild character has won the final.
The Kings:
Ryu Hayabusa (Ninja) Captain Jack Sparrow (Pirates) Gandalf (Mages) Ezio Auditore da Firenze (Assassins)
Thanks to everyone who participated in this one. I'd like a bit of post-contest discussion so the nomination period for the next contest will not begin until tomorrow night or Wednesday perhaps. A few quick discussion questions:
1) Did Ezio deserve to win? 2) What was the biggest surprise/disappointment of this contest? 3) Are you happy with the rules and do you think no trading gives way to a more true winner, or would you prefer to have trading in this contest if it were up to you?
As much as I would've preferred King of the Mountain to have its first Queen in Beatrix Kiddo, yeah I guess Ezio deserved the win almost as much.
2) What was the biggest surprise/disappointment of this contest?
Doc eliminating Elle Driver on purpose, that butthole. Also Nathan Wallace not even making the cut. I still hate all of you for that. Best assassin not even in the running. Go watch Repo! The Genetic Opera
3) Are you happy with the rules and do you think no trading gives way to a more true winner, or would you prefer to have trading in this contest if it were up to you?
No trading, but double elims in the first half of the contest would be cool so we could have like... more than three a year. >_>
1) Did Ezio deserve to win? He seems assassiny and well-liked enough. I certainly can't see he didn't deserve it.
2) What was the biggest surprise/disappointment of this contest? Surprise - Bourne at 15th. Guy was barely hanging on in like the 70s and 80s. Disappointment - Shelly at 28th, after he looked so good for most rounds.
3) Are you happy with the rules and do you think no trading gives way to a more true winner, or would you prefer to have trading in this contest if it were up to you? Yes to both questions. I'm happy with it as is and it gets a stereotypical winner, but I don't feel like that's necessary and it could be more fun with trading.
Sure. He's a cool guy and he definitely is a poster child assassin.
2) What was the biggest surprise/disappointment of this contest?
Surprise: Tira getting past 2 saves and almost making top 10. Thought once we needed more than Gen + me she'd be out in short order. Disappointment: All of the characters I was regularly saving making the top 1/3, none making the top 10.
3) Are you happy with the rules and do you think no trading gives way to a more true winner, or would you prefer to have trading in this contest if it were up to you?
If you encourage trading (by not banning it) I riot. Or just stop paying attention, I suppose. Probably the latter actually.
-- No problem! This is a cute and pop genocide of love!
Yeah. He's fairly cool. More importantly, he got the most votes.
2) What was the biggest surprise/disappointment of this contest?
I was really pleased to have helped Thane escape what might have been his deathbed at one point when I started voting. I remember vchar commenting that his days might have been numbered around then.
Disappointment-wise, I would have liked to have seen The Cigarette-Smoking Man make it farther. I'm also slightly disappointed (but not surprised) that Garak from DS9 never showed up on here.
3) Are you happy with the rules and do you think no trading gives way to a more true winner, or would you prefer to have trading in this contest if it were up to you?
I actually don't care in the slightest.

2) There weren't actually that many good entrants. Everyone assumes there are a bunch of awesome assassins and then it turns out there aren't (I am one of those people!)
The two best assassins I've come across in all of fiction to-date would probably be Johnny "Dread" Wulgaru from Tad Williams' Otherland and the aforementioned Garak from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.

I always worried about this category tbh, but it went over much better than I thought. There weren't a ton of characters I consider favorites that did very well, but overall the top 10 was probably one of the best somehow.
Looking good early out of the gate is kind of a bad sign. Hayabusa struggled quite a bit as well at times during his contest. Gandalf was sort of middle of the road, never really struggling but not generally first saved either. Sparrow's probably the exception to that, but then again, that was his contest to lose.
That's probably not gonna happen, I like individual placement and I'm not a big fan of placement voting either. Plus it gives you totally different results than you might get this way; Ezio wouldn't have won this contest, for example.
2) What was the biggest surprise/disappointment of this contest?
-Kind of surprised Bourne made it as far as he did, I suppose
3) Are you happy with the rules and do you think no trading gives way to a more true winner, or would you prefer to have trading in this contest if it were up to you?
Also how long does the KotM...last? Like, how many contests? You're not going to run all of the ones on the nomination list are you?

I dunno, if enough people want to see them I might. Some of the nominations are sort of ridiculous, but out of respect for the people who nominated them I won't say which. It's impossible to really draw a line on when the good contest ideas will run out. Mostly it's about interest I think, so long as people want to see the contest ran I will keep running it.
1) Did Ezio deserve to win? He really does qualify so am happy with it
2) What was the biggest surprise/disappointment of this contest? Light Yagami making it as far as he did. Disappointed that Artemis Enteri Did not make it in. Read the Drizzt books he is in he is a true emotionless assassin.
3) Are you happy with the rules and do you think no trading gives way to a more true winner, or would you prefer to have trading in this contest if it were up to you?
I do not like vote trading as it becomes easy for a character people do not like to make it further than some of the well liked characters

1) Ezio is a fine winner, I must say. Not the best, of course, but I still liked his character through ACII. 2) Suprise: Bad Girl doing as well as she did. No way would I expect her to reach the Top 50 unless her competition was seriously THAT BAD (which it couldn't possibly be). Dissapointment: Zeratul getting totally screwed over without it being my fault. Ouch.
3) Trading...eh. Not sure what to think of trading at the moment. I'd take the double eliminations early like a few other users stated, however.

HK-47: The very best there is when you absolutely positively have to kill every meatbag in the room. Accept no substitutes!
2. Biggest Surprise: Travis making it as far as he did. Biggest Disappointment: James Bond going out early. Thought he would be a shoo in for the Top 10.
3. No trades. Some contests are just fine drama-free. <_<

1) Yes. I haven't yet played any AC games but I can say as much from all the expose in medias. 2) Shigure making it a fair bit further than Sagiri. I thought they'd fall together. 3) More than 3 contests per year would be cool.
If people really are unhappy with the speed of the contests, I can start doing multiple rounds per day here and there like other contests sometimes do. Would anyone like day/night rounds some days of the week?
Ezio is a pretty good winner, I was hoping for Beatrix or Kenshin since I really love them, but Ezio is cool too, this was an excellent top 10 IMO.
2) What was the biggest surprise/disappointment of this contest?
I supposed One Piece wouldn't do too well with CP9 being minor characters, so I will say Mortal Kombat. All of them performed far worse than I expected judging from their performance in the Ninja contest. Plus, this was Jade's time to make it into a contest, I was very disappointed with her not making the cut. Reptile too.
3) Are you happy with the rules and do you think no trading gives way to a more true winner, or would you prefer to have trading in this contest if it were up to you?
No, this contest runs fine without trading.
-- SuperNiceDog won the Guru contest super nicely!
Oh right, surprise was Legault making it so far. Despite being an assassin himself, the game treats him more like a common thief but I'm pleasantly surprised at him surpassing Jaffar, whose appeal I will never get.

Oh, I also wanted to ask Pirateking (since I know he's a fellow Blazblue fan) if Nu-13/Mu-12 etc. could be considered robots. They sure are artificial clones, act like AIs and use robot-like powers to fight, but I'm not sure about their biological status as robots.
Sound like androids to me, and IIRC they are okay for the contest right?

2 rounds a day sounds cool if you're not into double elims.
