This purist bullcrap is half the reason TvC never took off (The other half was that it was a Wii game) and why Marvel 3 probably won't ever reach its potential. The selling point, even back when Vanilla was about to launch, was how crazy and unfair the game is. Balance? Nobody's balanced, that's what makes it balanced. At least, that's their version of it.

2nd half yes, thats obvious

1st half was because no one really knew who or what the hell Tatsunoko was. Karas, TEKNOMAN SLADE(who was added in the 2nd version), and maybe Casshern were the only one's people may have recognized(mayyybe gatchaman, but thats just digging low).

On Marvel, We have ****ing marvel characters. Spidey is recognized everywhere. Even the more "who?" ones like Modok and Taskmaster get far more recognizably than someone like Yatterman. Remember that Marvel was always US centric, Japan never really liked it, and they're meh about 3, and meh about the one's they might recognize(TvC).

You also speak as if TvC didn't have stupid ****.

TAC infinites while stupid, arent really that much of a detractor since only Sent and Mags have the only real "durr" one's, and even then Mags himself isn't really "durr", you actually have to understand the mechanics to get this stuff right. They will be dropped, and dropped a lot, and we will all have a laugh, and the kids will laugh, and Andre dies a little inside. Add to the fact the damn things are counter-able. Not like Marvel 3 wasn't already Touch of Death Heavy as is. Yeah this is stupid but it's not GG in Marvel, which is what matters (No, Frank lvl 5 and DP are not GG, Learn to ****ing kill DP before she has a chance to even blink people, like half the cast can do this. No, the entire cast can do this now, since the advent of Air X-factor does another little glitch that, ironically, involves TAC).

yeah TAC was always a dumb mechanic though. Im honestly surprised this didn't get found out sooner <_<

That is an almost non-existent part of whether a game's going to catch on with the competitive community. It matters for overall sales, but the competitive community is going to pick it up just on it being a Capcom game alone.

It was fun watching a fighting game stream again with Curleh Mustache last night. I purchased the premium Evo stream subscription in anticipation the other day too. I think I'm gonna spend the Canada long weekend Monday watching those stream archives people recommended earlier in the topic.

Capcom was (and is) very close to my heart. The teams there have been extremely gracious with me, and showed a great deal of trust in me to work on the fighting titles specifically. Towards the end of my time, that trust extended to titles even outside of the fighting genre, but to focus purely on the design side at Capcom would have required that I move to Japan full time, which wasn't a path for me (also, my Japanese is really, really bad).
