I do not believe that's the whole story, but if I say that, it's going to look like I'm being paranoid or looking for drama. (And I like s-kill, so I'd honestly prefer it really was just a clean split.)

Seth's mostly a happy guy at Capcom, at least until SFxT got released, you should have seen his eyes at NorCal Regionals, he had such bags under them, the kind you see a stressed person has.

http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e373/Gaiash/KumaVsZangief.jpg LOL!!!! I hope that's a joke....names don't get more n00bish than that
just last night I was hearing Darry from Norcal saying that "someone" whom he couldn't name but who had intimate dealings with the game directly referred to SFxT as "this f***ing game" at NCR. Hmm, wonder who that could be?
Ricky was one of the top 5 3s Chun players in the US
they should put his CvS2 team behind him though
Yes, but what I'm saying is that 3S Chun is even less fun to fight against than Alpha 2 Chun, and is possibly even more dominant, which is a hella ridiculous feat. Ricky is still a god with her though, and I hope he can level her up to the point she's as good as his Rufus in AE2k12.
eh. that s*** is overstated. she's dominant and sucky when she has two bars of meter. before that you shouldn't be afraid of her. she has very specific answers to situations and basically no offensive tools before she has SA2 and she's not hard to deal with. the only part where she sucks to fight against is when she's got you backed in the corner, threatening you with cr mks and kara throwing you all day.
you're saying you hope he levels his 3s Chun up to that point? hm maybe but it's probably unlikely. being top 5 Chun in the US does mean something but the US is so far behind Japan at this point it's ridiculous. gap keeps widening because 3s barely has a tournament presence here and it's still one of the more popular arcade games in Japan. the really good Chuns like Nuki Rikimaru etc are so good at this point that I doubt anyone from the US will ever catch up.

I'm not convinced it's impossible, actually. I mean, put it this way: we got beat down super hard in the early iterations of SF4, but now the field is super and wide open to the point anyone could possibly take Evo. If a scene for 3S sprung back up again, don't you think we could possibly catch up?

yeah but the difference is that Japan has like 5+ extra years on us at this point, for the various sets of time where no one was playing it over here. it shows, too - we've never done anything but get crushed by the Japanese anywhere outside Evo (where they only had a few people come every year). whenever we went to SBO we got bodied pretty hard.
there's probably like 5 guys total in the US who could hang with the Japanese right now. not sure if it'll ever be much more. it's possible that like you said we could have a 3s revival but OE didn't do a lot towards that and 3s is one of those games where pretty much no one likes to play on console, it's arcade or nothing. and we don't have that many arcades. sucks but I just figure it's unlikely. if you wanna get good at 3s as an American you basically gotta go live in Japan at this point.

That's more to do with SBO having a hilariously bad format though. Put up a japanese best of 3 tourney and I bet we do way better than in SBO. But yeah, we could seriously use a proper, arcade-perfect 3S console port, instead of OE.
Eh, I think Japan really IS that much farther than us in 3S that switching to a sensible format wouldn't make much difference. For SF4 though, yeah, I think foreign teams could do a lot better if SBO was different.
Hoax? Not? God, I hope it's true. If only to shut all the Mega Man idiots...plus, Cyclops, GIMME DAT.
I would bet money it's a hoax.
Aside from sounding fishy to begin with, that's a lot of information to "hear from a friend." He'd have to have been talking about this for at least a half hour and been taking physical notes the entire time (which his friend would probably not appreciate).

The counterpoint is that we've seen even bigger leaks that turned out to be true before. Additionally, unlike most hoaxes, this one is giving a solid, immediate date. Most hoaxes try to keep things very nebulous to hold people's attention for a while.
The thing is that the past leaks, to my knowledge, did not claim their source was a "well known high level competitive player friend." Those leaks were very likely people who had either worked on/with the game, or had hands-on experience with it. So they wouldn't need to remember a half-hour conversation's worth of information to leak stuff.

Considering high level competitive players knew of the patch that was supposed to hit before it was actually mentioned by Niitsuma, I actually buy it. Remember, news of it first appeared from...I wanna say either PR Rog or FChamp. So there's precedent there.
That was a good one. I'm partial to Poongko's rampage, and THE ANGELS HAVE SMILED ON MIKE ROSS too. So many good memories, really. Such a great Evo, 2011.
so what do you all think was the most epic moment from last years EVO? I think it was that LVL 3 epic save against Dark Phoenix in the finals
Really hard to pick just one, because there's too many. Latif's cinderella run, Justin Wong pulling a Wong Moment out of his ass with Akuma, Noah full stop, Daigo perfected...way too much stuff out there.
EDIT: And BlazBlue being won by a nerfed, low-tier character in ultra-convincing, utterly frightening fashion. That was nuts too.

I thought Hakumen was like A or B tier in CS (granted they have changed it a lot since then but I don't think he is low / bottom tier in CS)
CT he was low / bottom tier

He was considered C tier back then, until Sparks proved Haku was pretty much godlike if the player was good enough.
