Sony has pushed the "always online" thing and wants to kill used games/rentals.

That sure sounds like having the gamers' interests in mind!

PS3 online - free. If you choose to pay - PS Plus gives you a load of free games and discounts.

PS1, PS2, PS3 libraries - easily the greatest number of hardcore games, games developed with the gamer in mind.

Why do you think PS3 went from clear bottom to decisively on top even on this site?

So, basically... Free online is all you have, since the PS Plus thing is basically them offering people games most of them either already have, don't want, or would otherwise buy used in an attempt to use their paid online.

And then opinion.

The same Sony that had to take their free online down for longer than acceptable because they didn't care to give it any competent protection.

The only answer in this poll is the last one.

Worked for the gamer's interest? Yeah, no, not with them refusing to honor my PS1's warranty and charging me money for not even attempting to fix my problem regarding a DRE. True, that's an individual case, but the class action about DREs with PS2s was not an individual case.

I'm not going to deny that Sony has done a lot for gaming when it comes to developing hardware and software, but they're terrible when it comes to customer support and customer relations. Which, in my opinion, would be a part of "working for the gamer's interest."

That's baseless assumption. And even if it were true (for 0.001% of the PS3 owners it might be!), PS Plus is still an option - it's not like they force you to sign up and go "hey, have these free games," it's just an offer and you can decide whether it's good enough for you.

Xbox Live Gold? Pay up or forget about playing online.

Wii? lol.

And then fact. No matter how you try to slice it. I mean, what is the competition? N64? Mega limited with most genres heavily underrepresented aside from 2-3. Gamecube? Xbox? Joke libraries in comparison to PS2. Wii? lol. Xbox 360? Fine, I'll give you that comes close to PS3, but that's one out of 5.

... and then offered people 4 free games in compensation (you could choose them among 10 choices), and a month of PS Plus.

No denying that the mess-up with the lack of protection was huge, but at least they compensated people relatively well.

No company is perfect. I bashed them quite a bit for removing Linux and for the hacking mess-up. Their PRs were also completely inadequate before Kevin Butler came in the spotlight.

But when you outclass the competition so much, you deserve the praise.

For some reason you are adding 3 consoles together. I'll just do SNES, DS, Wii and that beats those 3 no problem. Also how many of those games did sony actually have a part in developing?

Today's poll seems fairly similar to this poll from about 4 months ago:

http://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/index.html?poll=4646

The only difference between that poll and today's poll is the extra option for "None of the above". Using the current results right now, if you removed "None of the above" from today's poll, the results would look like this:

Apple 6.35% 712
Google 5.14% 576
Microsoft 27.02% 3028
Nintendo 28.33% 3175
Sony 33.16% 3716

As I said, they've pissed me off with their bulls*** sometimes, too. It's just that they're the best out of the alternatives.

Luster makes an interesting point - Google is much closer to Apple than in the previous poll. Glad to see people are realising Android's much better for gaming than Apple's closed bs. But with so few votes for them in total, one has to wonder how a 1-on-1 poll would look like.

Oh, come on. You can't even begin to count something like "Hey, they gave the people effected by the downtime free games!" as "thinking of the gamers' best interest." It's more thinking about the backlash if they didn't do anything. Free online or not, the bad press if they did nothing to make up for it would have been terrible.

XBL > PSN anyway. I'll pay $60 a year (less if I find deals) if it means that the online is actually in top form when I want it. I mean PSN is a reasonable service considering you pay nothing but I don't consider XBL a waste of money and I'm glad I have an alternative when I want a higher quality online play than PSN.

I mean let's not kid ourselves, Sony's in trouble financially and they pretty much only make profit off their video game division, if this fails they're boned. And the Vita sure doesn't make me hopeful!

ok how about the fact that they took away backwards compatibility just because too many people were buying ps2 games? or the fact that they removed linux after advertising it as a linux machine? Or what about the lawsuits against people who did nothing wrong? OR WHAT ABOUT THE FACT THEY THEY POURED MONEY INTO THE SOPA/PIPA agenda, which is nothing less than an active act of terrorism?

We should all treat sony and everyone who works for them the same way MWC treats boston.

The first is a plain lie.

The second is a joke, agreed. Far from enough to outweigh all the good they've done for us, though.

Are you serious? The PSP library is no where near the DS library. The DS has a ridiculous amount of amazing games. The PSP has like a few final fantasy games and monster hunter. The only reason I like my PSP is because of the PSClassics and all the ports it has.

What are the so-called "amazing" DS games? Phoenix Wright games are pretty cool, but what else?

Pokemon series, DQ series, Professor Layton series, Elite Beat Agents + sequels, Meteos, TWEWY, Radiant Historia, Etrian Odyssey series, Rune Factory series, Advance Wars series, Mario and Luigi, and still a lot more.

xfd... Are you even serious? All of these can be called "good," but nothing is even close to amazing.
