How many games need to be in the series to qualify? Like... does Batman: Arkham games qualify with only 2 entries?
Also, how do you quantify a dud?
Final Fantasy games definitely qualify. The only "dud" has been FF14, as every other entry has had immense praise (and it's fair share of criticism as is to be expected when you have a huge franchise), and high scores.
I'd say Uncharted hasn't had any disappointing entries yet, but it also has less than 5 games to it's series.
Ratchet and Clank series have always been popular as have God of War.
Assasin's Creed first game is the lowest rated game of the series and has been getting nothing but better as it produces.
Don't think I've heard anyone complain about any of the Metal Gear games, except maybe 2.
Mario Games of course always do well, except maybe that Luigi's Mansion game... and maaaaaaaaaybe Sunshine.
Of course there is the killer of all games.... The Legend of Zelda.

12 and 13 both have noticeably lower scores on sites where anyone can submit a score. Metacritic or here for example. Whether a 77% average means the series isn't "consistently good" anymore I'm not sure. But there's no doubt 12 and 13 have received a lot more criticism than anything since the series got really good around 4.
Civilization Elder Scrolls (only bad one is oblivion, the rest are all well above average) Metal Gear Solid
I want to include the NES styled Mega Mans, but most think 4,5, and 6 were just average and "more of the same". Ill be honest though i think 4, 5 and 6 are all great games and close to the level of greatness that 2 and 3 are

everything else i can think of has one or two stumbles, making it inconsistent. and i mean mario has sunshine and FF has 13, but both have so many more games than most other series that i would still call them consistent.
Top 5 (In terms of consistency) 01. Metal Gear 02. Resident Evil 03. The Legend of Zelda 04. Uncharted 05. Ratchet & Clank
Top 5 (series bomber included in ( )) 01. Final Fantasy (2, 11, 13, 14 and 12 are all below par in terms of FF quality) 02. Metal Gear (none) 03. Resident Evil (none but needs new ideas) 04. Suikoden (4 bombed mercilessly, otherwise Suikoden would be in the top 5 in terms of consistency) 05. Persona (1 - almost unplayable, 2 - incomparable to P3 and P4, anyone saying otherwise is just fooling themselves)
Top 5 series run to the ground 01. Spyro the Dragon (Insomniac's sacrificial goat or rather sheep for R&C) 02. Crash Bandicoot (Naughty Dog's sacrificial goat for Jak and eventually Uncharted) 03. Mega Man (No new innovations, merely average and beaten to death mechanics) 04. Mana Series (Haven't played even a decent Mana game since Legend of Mana) 05. Final Fantasy (What was once the undisputed best series in video games is fiddling with mediocrity (FF11,13 and 14) and merely 'good' games (FF12)
- FF6-FF10 is what I'd call the highest point in not just the series but gaming itself. - Ever since Metal Gear turned Metal Gear Solid, the series has all produced atleast 9/10 games - Most improved series: Resident Evil after the release of the 4th installment - Undisputed best JRPGs after FF10, SMT: Persona 4 followed by Persona 3 - IMO only 2 Zelda games have reached the heights of best game ever material: Skyward Sword and Majora's Mask. - Uncharted is this generation's most consistent series IMO - Ratchet & Clank may be Sony's most consistent series if you exclude the horrible Size Matters on PSP
