If the original Nexus beatdown was a 10 on the "holy ****" meter, I put these Show attacks at like a 7.5.

Using Nexus as 10 I'd probably give them a 3. With "random finisher in the ring" being a 1, "random finisher on the floor at ringside" being a 2. Also while Kane's more stupid attacks would rate below this he's definitely done better. His random smotherings of Cena a few months ago beat it-- and his top rope chair guillotines really beat it.

Mark Henry did it a lot better just cause the dude is better with intensity. Show is not a naturally intense guy. Show only really works if he's showing things that look like massive feats of strength like tossing a guy really far or something. He hasn't really done any of that so I'm left kinda getting sleepy during the things.

And yeah Biscuit brings up a good point too-- when we're served 2+ squashes a week you need to step it up a bit for another squash to really feel special. I feel like they've just been phoning things in these days. Orton vs Kane I thought was a funny feud because it blatantly felt completely random. Now we've got Kane/Punk/Bryan based on random beatdowns and Orton aimlessly RKOing people and Ryback/Tensai/Brodus doing their weekly squashes and... just oversaturated.

I distinctly remember Sakamoto's kick to John Cena that one match between him and Tensai. It was a really good looking kick. I was sort of surprised.

When are we getting a wrestler who's gimmick is that he can control time? It wouldn't so much manifest itself in matches, but more we would get a backstage segment involving him, and something bad would happen to him like he'd be attacked or he'd say something stupid, and then a few minutes later we'd get the exact same segment, with no acknowledgment from anyone that it's already aired, and this time he's prepared for the attack or this time he says what he wanted to say. The same thing could happen with his in-ring promos, and it'd confuse the hell out of audiences.

I think this is stupid enough to work, damn it.

This is semi-accurate, depending on whether or not you buy into the "other moves weaken the opponent which makes the finisher easier to execute" logic. If the guy's finisher was a submission hold, for example, there would still be plenty of reason to do other moves, provided they weakened the specific body part his finisher was geared towards.

You shouldn't really have to "buy into" that concept. Fighters in real-life fighting sports don't come out there swinging for a knockout or going for a submission from the opening bell.

Well, the problem is that many pro wrestling "finishing moves" are just as, if not MORE easy to execute than your average non-finisher.

You shouldn't really have to "buy into" that concept. Fighters in real-life fighting sports don't come out there swinging for a knockout or going for a submission from the opening bell.

Fighters in real life fighting sports don't have almost complete immunity to all but one or two specific attacks their opponent could use. In real MMA or boxing or whatever, you can actually knock someone out early, and do noticeable damage with your safer attacks, in pro wrestling the bulk of moves used never win matches under any circumstances and very rarely prevent someone from getting their usual "second wind" (hey John Cena) and promptly taking you out in one or two signature moves.

they were at least decent heels and worked *watchable* matches near the end there

that's the worst thing about the divas

some of the reviled "model types" end up being half-decent or at least improving considerably at the end of their runs but then wwe fires them for having aspirations or whatever
