50-120 hours depending on how many sidequests you do

I should say that my brother had the PAL version, perhaps they changed some dialog for NA release? I just thought it was worth mentioning because the story and setting seemed really fantastic while a few pieces of dialogue were basically saying "there's something here".

Nope, I live in the UK and played the PAL release.

It's pretty damn long. ~70 hours at a minimum, well over double that if you want to do all the sidequests and stuff.

Also, WTF at people saying it's ugly. Unrefined perhaps, there are definitely resolution issues, but it's still visually stunning. Some of the best looking things I've seen in a game, largely due to the art direction and draw distance.

The game's great.

The graphics seem fine. Nothing looks "bad", it's all PS2 or better level. Not to mention the art direction makes everything look fantastic, and the animations in and out of combat look great and have tons of detail too, looks great in motion.

85 hours in.

There's plenty of highs and plenty of fluff and waaaaaay too many cutscenes.

Yeah I'm thinking there are people with horribly calibrated TVs here if they think the graphics look bad.

Wii game 101: Component cables, high color contrast, turn screen softening way up. Voila, no big aliasing issues.

Xenoblade is a game that would benefit from HD, but it looks excellent as it is. It looks a lot better than anything from last generation.

it would be great if the game could actually look as good as it does on dolphin.

the game still looks okay but if it wasn't for the ridiculous drawing distance I could honestly mistake it for a late PS2 era game

yeah Xenoblade has great art direction. it's still quite ugly by modern standards though. great art means you can ignore that, but yeah, there are lots of times when it can look flat out bad. framerate can really suck too in big fights.

pretty rad game though, you get over the 2004-level graphics

Depends on whether you care more about art direction or polygon count, really.

It's not about polygons. This game has a lot of polygons, actually. The problem is the resolution.

I stand corrected. Don't know the technical term for it, so you're probably right.

By the way, people who run Wii games on emulators, how does Xenoblade run?

Game over for party leader dying lol wat.

Not that this isn't a dumb complaint anyway, but it's not game over so long as you have a bar of your party gauge left for one of the other two to revive you.

The problem I have with the graphics is that Final Fantasy X has better graphics, and that game's 10 years old. After playing modern games for a while, going to Xenoblade is just difficult. Good art direction, bad graphics.

God damn that looks amazing on dolphin

Can you just stick the Wii disc in your PC and run it on Dolphin or are there more tricks you need to do?
Oh yeah you probably would need some Wii remote drivers and a bluetooth dongle for PC.... eh, so much effort, but I would love to play this and SS on Dolphin.

I thought the wii's disc format was a little different from DVD and most computers can't read it? not that I've tried but I thought I read that somewhere, hopefully that's wrong because I also want to play xenoblade and SS on dolphin sometime

Well to be fair, the waterfall looks amazing even on the Wii. That's the point in the game where I was first really impressed by the graphics. They did a really good job with that, especially by putting that long ass bridge right at the beginning which forced you to stare at it.

I just plugged my PS2 controller in and booted Xenoblade up (I play my Wii games though an external hard drive so I had a download on my computer already)

Got the classic controller working on the Dualshock 2

Wait, it doesn't use crappy Wiimote controls? I might check it out then. RIght now I exclusively use my Wii for Brawl and emulation (LOVE the Wii emulation capabilities, especially now that you can do Gamecube games from SD card)

Sure, there are some graphic issues (resolution, needs anti-aliasing) but nothing you won't get used to very quickly. To me, it's just like "yeah I'm playing a Wii game", no biggie.
