Right here if you wanna nom.

Also, everyone should watch Katte ni Kaizou, Mazinkaiser SKL, and Sengoku Basara: The Last Party. Three of the year's best anime that didn't really get that many viewers.

5. Hourou Musuko
Winter

Literally the best winter anime. It's always nice seeing something present a more serious topic and do it candidly. I didn't watch this until recently since it sounded lame that they skipped the first part of the manga. It is pretty lame but it's still awesome. The characters felt realistic and they did really well with making them effectual. The show had a good chill atmosphere and emotional tone. Plus Saorin is a badass. The show does feel a bit weird since you can tell it's starting in the middle of the series but whatever. I'm sure the manga is much better unless they go for a random Shuuichi x nee-san ending

4. Chihayafuru
Fall

Literally the best fall anime. This is only like halfway over but I'm basically in love with it. The only reason it's not higher is because it's unfinished and who knows if it'll stay this good. I'm pretty sure it will since it is pretty much amazing. It just makes me happy. It's all about Chihaya and co. following their dreams of playing children's card games which is obviously a message I can get behind. The tone of the show is good in that it never feels at sappy or melodramatic but still emotionally driven. Also, the music is great. This is basically the highest compliment I can give an anime since I don't care about 95% of soundtracks.

3. Ano Hana
Spring

Spring was a weird season for me. It was the first season I was dropping bad series like moggthegob's mom dropping him on his head when he was a baby. It was a really good feeling and for the first time in awhile, I was really loving anime again. Anyway, Ano Hana was my favorite show I watched airing this season. Admittedly, it had some pretty big problems. Firstly, a good cast usually goes hand in hand with me liking a series a lot. Strangely, I never particularly cared about anyone much in this. The biggest problem was the writing. The main problem of the series literally could have been solved as soon as everyone got back together if Jinta and Menma weren't stupid. Despite that glaring flaw, I really loved this. I think since it did so well on an emotional level, I can look past dumb minor flaws like objectively bad writing. The nostalgic feeling of it was excellent and I was more absorbed in it than I have been any other airing anime. I said I didn't really care about any character but I still wanted to see them move on and all. If anyone who watched this remembers, I was literally worried about the direction the ending was going. Thankfully, the ending was as good as I could hope for.

2. Kaiji 2
Spring

Literally the best spring anime. I only watched this once it was over but man it was awesome. I liked S1 a lot too but this was a step above it. It's more intense than before as Kaiji cries and fails his way through it all. Kaiji is just such a ****ing great character. I really put him on the same tier as Kamina and some others for being inspirational. Of course, it's done in a totally different way since he's basically a huge loser. But more importantly, even his life outside of all the danger and gambling is totally terrible. The fact that he's willing to fight so hard to keep it makes me feel like crying manly tears. The last few episodes make me really happy despite some of the circumstances being pretty bad. The scene where Kaiji's efforts finally, FINALLY pay off is one of the greatest things I've ever seen. Not to mention the scenes following it. And my god, the premise for the third series is amazing. I hope this gets a season three.

1. Usagi Drop
Summer

Literally the best anime of the year. I'm not going to delve into my feelings on the remainder of the series but part one stands as my favorite slice of life series of ALL TIME. It combines the serious stuff with comedy really well and it never feels too serious or anything. I loved it from the start since Daikichi is established as a bro right away and Rin is adorable. I have a thing for anything about parenting and this does it so well. Daikichi getting accustomed to it, struggling with it, and eventually feeling rewarded by it. It is just the greatest. The emotional scenes are pretty scarce but done really well. Two really stick out in my mind and if you liked the series, you probably know what I'm talking about. I like the plot important parts more but I love the straight slice of life parts too. I read the manga first and I can't really decide if I like the anime or part one of the manga more. The manga's style is pretty minimalistic so it definitely benefited from being adapted. The art and music are really good. It's also pretty cool how they got an actual kid to voice Rin and she did a good job. Just imagine if Rie Kugimiya had voiced her oh god. To sum it all up, okay seriously what the **** is that manga ending. I'm literally praying the anime never gets a season two.

Coming your way, Chrono1219s 2011 Anime rankings.

The list includes all dropped shows, even those that I only lasted a few minutes (and in a particular case... seconds).
The number of shows is 88. I might have actually missed a few shows, but I'm pretty sure I have all the ones I've completed on the list.
The list includes all shows I saw that aired this year, including ones that started last year, and ones that continue into next year.
For dropped shows, I can only rank them based on what I saw, so even if a show got really good after i dropped it, that doesn't really help it.

88. Hen Zemi
Status: Dropped- Half and Episode
Half an episode is saying something considering episodes are only 11 minutes long. I heard somewhere that this show was actually somewhat realistic to what would happen in these types of clubs... Anyways, every thing about this was bad. I feel bad that I remember so much about the 5 minutes I spent on this. Really, if you presented me with this or that MLP guro that Ayuyu posted... I'm not sure what I'd pick, it's that bad. Also, its never good when you look at all the characters and ask yourself "Why is everyone fat?"

87. Uta no Prince-sama Maji Love 1000%
Status: Dropped, ~30 seconds in.
This series has the status of my fastest drop ever. As soon as they went into idolmode I got vibes of my sister blasting terrible Kpop and instantly had to close my laptop screen. As such I don't really know much about the actual show or how good (or bad) it actually is.

86. C3
Status: Complete
So after 2 episodes I'm thinking that this show might not be terrible, maybe a 5? But then it takes a huge nose dive. The show is full of problems, a goal where you can never really measure the progress, bland characters, terrible dialogue, seemingly random villains, Characters get no development at all. At times characters in a conversation will answer a question or something...and then keep talking and I'm unsure what they are saying actually pertains to anything in the show.

85. Freezing
Status: Dropped - 1 Episode
Oh god, so I don't mind boob fighters, but then this weird ultra bloody thing happens with bad characters. I'd actually probably had kept it if it longer if it was just a boob fighter.

84. Shouwa Monogatari
Status: Dropped ~ 8 minutes.
This was just.... so boring.

83. Yondemasu yo, Azazel-san. (TV)
Status: Dropped - 1 Episode.
The humor in the show was absolutely terrible. It had potential to be a decent comedy, but had the worst content imaginable. I do remember the OP having something with a cow getting mad at a hamburger or something. That was probably the best part of the entire episode I saw.

82. Maken-Ki!
Status: Dropped - Half an Episode.
So, originally I dropped this was on hold because of censors, but then I just decided to drop it. Why? The main character has one of the most atrocious designs I've seen. Just look at him.

81. R-15
Status: Dropped - Half and Episode.
I'm actually kinda unsure why I dropped this exactly. I just remember it not being funny.

80. Nekogami Yaoyorozu
Status: Dropped - 1 Episode.
This was one of the furry shows that aired. The first episode was really all over the place. Again, this is a show where the first episode was just not the thing where I'd want to devote more time to it.

79. Kimi to Boku
Status: Dropped - Half an Episode.
The half of an episode I saw was terrible. Maybe it was unfair to drop it so soon, but even now it's not like it's high on my list to pick up.

78. Hidan No Aria
Status: Dropped - 4 Episodes.
I wanted this to be so ridiculous that it's good, but it was just stupid. They did rip off the movie Speed though, which was something.

Well since all the cool people are doing it I'll post my ginormous list of anime from this year that I finished. I know you're all interested given how often I post in here!

*light spoilers for Oreimo, Deadman Wonderland, Fate/Zero, Mazinkaiser, and Un-Go follow*

5. Oreimo specials

Kuroneko is my favorite character in the show, so it's pretty impressive that they somehow managed to screw this up to the point where I actually prefer the original. The plot somehow manages to crossover into "too geeky" for my western mind to wrap itself around and probably gets doubly hurt that I find it kinda like, too unrealistic for a programming club, being someone who is actually involved in Computer Science. Then the fact that Kuroneko is ultimately thrown to the side to get Kirino back, making the end a lot like the disappointing first ending, is kind of a slap in the face and makes this thing feel pretty pointless. 4/10.

4. Deadman Wonderland

The premise was interesting, but it got really repetitive after the first four episodes or so, and the characters got too uhh simplistic/cliche. It never really dragged, though... to a fault, almost, because it ended like, abruptly as hell. Shiro's awesome though. 5/10.

3. Fate/Zero

This show was amazing at first. The dialogue and fight scenes were good. I loved the scene where they all showed up at the docks or wherever when Lancer made himself obvious for a fight, and I agree that Rider's noble phantasm is great, and that Rider himself is the star of the show (though I like most of the characters to some extent). And it had Fate/Stay Night influence which is good. My only problem with the show is that... nothing happens, ever. The talking is interesting but does nothing but flesh personalities out a bit and entertain. None of the fight scenes ever see anyone die, good or bad. It's not that I felt that the heroes were never in peril-- I didn't feel like anyone was in peril.

I'm pretty sure this anime would be leagues better right now if Lancer (due to his master dying) and Caster (due to Saber and Lancer taking him out) were out of the picture, but right now it just seems like build up. The fact that the final battle of the season didn't start and just served as a cliffhanger pretty much drives it home.

It's like DBZ with good animation and dialogue in some ways. Hopefully season 2 actually has things happen. 6/10.

2. Mazinkaiser

Just pure badassery and ass kicking, and it's good for that. It doesn't try to be deep or involved but it doesn't have to. Mostly this high due to flaws from the others more than it being that great though. 7/10.

1. Un-Go

Pretty consistently enjoyable show and the main is pretty great. The plots are pretty interesting too. The problem then, is that none of the characters really give a **** about anything. Embok thinks that makes it cool, which it kinda is, but for the most part the only people that seem to care about how the cases go are the unlikable suspects/victims, which kinda hurts my ability to care about how the cases go as well. There's also no real build to a big finish, though the episodes do get better throughout. 7/10.

77. Onii-chan no Koto nanka Zenzen Suki Janain Dakara ne!!
Status: Dropped - 1 Episode.
So this is a show about incest, and not the oreimo little sister complex kind, the makes you uncomfortable kind. Should explain things pretty much.

76. Dragon Crisis
Status: Complete
If you told me by the end of the year there would be over 10 shows I'd rank lower than this I'd laugh at you. I can't mention how many things made me scream "Why" in this show. Like that wolf girl who was upset for not being a wolf girl, or that guy whose power was to disintegrate himself, or that naked loli who only knew one word, or the fact that the main character was completely useless.

75. Rio - Rainbow Gate
Status: Dropped - 1 Episode.
So, this was pretty bad. It did have a good part where the loli in the episode basically blackmailed the main character. If I remember if she lost the main character would get naked. She was half naked anyways, I mean that's not much of a bet imo.

74. Blade
Status: Dropped - 1 Episode
This was weird, it almost made it to episode two, but I decided the animation quality and weird angsty thing that was going on would kill it. Some of the fights were okay, but nothing was especially noteworthy.

73. Beelzebub
Status: Dropped - 1 Episode
This show has a naked baby where the person taking care of it refuses to give it clothes. Not only is it not appealing to see a naked baby, but it also has be to unethical on the part of the main character to treat a child like this.

72. Itsuka Tenma no Kuro Usagi
Status: Dropped - 1 Episode
The set up of this is kinda like Is it a zombie, too bad it's not funny at all, I don't think it was even a comedy though. In the one episode I already hated every character on the show, quite a feat. Someone who finished this show please confirm all the characters ended up being terrible.

71. Kaitou Tenshi Twin Angel: Kyun Kyun Tokimeki Paradise!!
Status: Dropped - 1 Episode
I totally forgot I saw this until I did the rankings. This is a basic magical girl show with kinda odd character designs. There is a tuxedo mask character in the episode which was pretty neat, but nothing here to really get me to keep a genre I'm not as interested in in the first place.

70. Sket Dance
Status: Dropped - 1 Episode
The first episode, aka 5 Frames Per second might have been one of the biggest fails of a first episode. If I'm to believe the tremendous boost in quality that happens after it. Even if the animation in episode 1 was okay, I don't remember the episode itself being anything special either.

69. Hoshizora e Kakaru Hashi
Status: Dropped - 1 Episode
I never remember what this show is based on the name, that should tell you how interesting it is. The only thing I really remember is albion drooling over the shota in the first episode and the main character crying because a girl saw him naked.

68. Hyouge Mono
Status: Dropped - Half an Episode
This is the highest ranked show that was dropped before episode 1 ended. The only thing I remember about it is that it was boring, but at least not offensively bad.

67. Morita-san wa Mukuchi (TV)
Status: Dropped - 2 Episodes
Even though this was only like 5 minutes, I found it hard to really care after the 2nd episode. I didn't really find it that funny, in fact a lot of it was arrgh because it was almost like a character talking to a wall.

66. No. 6
Status: Dropped - 5 Episodes
666...Hey, remember when I said that this show screams yaoi based on the description? This kinda set up to be a yaoi fractale, just let that sink in for a moment. Okay anyways, lets not forget the two characters were terrible, and there was some girl one of the characters liked, but now he's going around with a guy, what does that say?

65. Blood-C
Status: Dropped - 1 Episode
So, they turned Saya into a hipster. That's enough of an writeup.

64. UN-GO
Status: Complete
More like Un-no. This show was on the verge of being dropped for a long time, and the only thing that kept it was the fact I held onto C3, and I would not drop a show if I was keeping one I knew to be worse. There are a bunch of glaring issues, all over the place pacing, rather limited character development, unsatisfactory ending, some weird supernatural thing that is never fully explained, etc.

63. Fractale
Status: Complete
AKA the show that would save anime from the evil moe empire. Haha, it's hard to tell you how confusing this series was. I still don't know why they worship the fractale system, was that ever explained? Also those two girls fused into one at the end? What? How is that acceptable in anyway. It's not even like the characters were good anyways. This is also a show where the art quality was noticably lower than others in the same season.

62. Gosick
Status: Complete
I had some high hopes for this show, but it ended up being a series about two unbearable characters who would scream each others names until glass broke. I guess the main issue is the main story took too long to happen and then it just kinda assumed you knew what was going on when it finally happend. Yeah they hinted to it and stuff, but it was weird having so much filler.

61. Hourou Musuko
Status: Dropped - 2 Episodes
I really wanted to like this, but it just didn't do it for me. However, most of all I was annoyed at the art style, it was just very distracting most of the time.

60. Moshidora
Status: Dropped - 3 Episodes
I'm surprised I gave this 3 episodes. Nothing I can remember being really bad about this, but just that it put me to sleep.

59. Dantalian no Shoka
Status: Dropped - 1 Episode.
Hello Gosick 2.0.

58. C
Status: Complete
This is weird because while I didn't like this show, I can't pinpoint the reasons. I guess it was just below average on everything. The main villain and ending are probably the biggest problems I had. Oh, now that I think of it, they said something about the 1% in America too.

57. Sekaiichi Hatsukoi
Status: Dropped - 1 Episode.
This is a yaoi show. Admittedly if I was into that stuff I might have kept it. Honestly it was not a bad first episode, had some funny moments, but just not something I could really enjoy watching.

56. Toriko
Status: Dropped - 2 Episodes.
I suppose it was not that bad, had its moments. However, I also knew it had a once piece tie in and that the show might never ever end.

55. X-Men
Status: Dropped - 3 Episodes
This one started out decent, but then slowly got worse. I don't know what's with japan and making marvel characters emo and angsty. Plus side, Storm was hot.

54. Deadman Wonderland
Status: Complete
The first two episodes of this were really good. I'm not a fan of super violent stuff, but an interesting concept and some gut wrenching scenes really set the mood. Then the show just stopped caring. It's really too bad none of the characters really get developed, or the story doesn't really move along, or a central bad guy is never really defeated, or the fact that the main character STAYS IN THE PRISON AFTER BREAKING OUT.

53. Ro-Kyu-Bu!
Status: Dropped - 3 Episodes.
This show had a great concept, a lolicon who was forced off a basketball team has to teach basketball to lolis. The show just could not really hold my interest. I wanted it to be sofuteni with basketball, but it ended up being set up for some weird lolicon romance thing? I don't know really.

52. Sacred Seven
Status: Dropped - 2 Episodes
This one had really good editing in the first episode. However, the episode was also one of the most confusing/random things that ever happened. Things just seemed to happen for the sake of them happening etc.The main character just seemed to be there etc. Reminded me a little of Star Driver from what I saw of it.

51. Phi Brain: Kami no Puzzle
Status: Dropped - 3 Episodes
So, my problem with this besides the fact most of the characters were kinda annoying was the fact that it was like "Hey I'm going to use the heart of the puzzles to god mode my way through this at the end" at least yugioh used cards we actually owned and had characters like Kaiba.

50. CardFight!! Vanguard
Status: Dropped - 22 Episodes
I'm not sure what put the idea in the creators head to make the main character the second worst duelist on the entire show. It's too bad half the episodes I saw were full of the shota running away from the loli. The best character in the show was the sub manager (the cat) also Morikawa aka Lose-umi. Had some good moments, but not memorable.

49. Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon
Status: Dropped - 1 Episode
I don't know what I just watched. The only thing I really remember was a random censor... and then they dont censor this naked floating dinjin. Some of it was interesting, but the first episode screamed train wreck from the start. On the plus side, some of the animation was good, and it was decent for non stop...albeit weird action.

48. Pretty Rhythm: Aurora Dream
Status: Dropped - 3 Episodes
This show is about FASHION. So obviously I kept it... if only it was a little better. Actually the real thing that turned me off is the very bad 3D CG stuff that would randomly happen. I lol'd when it was like "the dress is talking to me" etc. This is a boarderline show that on a season I'd be feeling generous might have actually kept.

47. Mayo Chiki!
Status: Complete
This show marks where we finally get into the 5/10 (above the drop line) and while there are shows that have been dropped ranked higher, this complete series pretty much is my base for a 5. For one Subaru was cute and a decent enough character, and it had that weird cat girl. However, a lot of the jokes ran stale and the side characters were weak. There wasn't really a lot of relationship progress either.

46. IS: Infinite Stratos
Status: Dropped - 5 Episodes
The infinite tampon. Obvious harem setup, I heard it's kinda generic but does its job well. The fights/action was good enough, but I'm not really sure what put it below the drop line for the season. I do remember the reverse trap though... at least I'm pretty sure it was a reverse trap.

45. Maji de Watashi ni Koi Shinasai!
Status: Dropped - 3 Episodes
This one was really dropped for two reasons, censors and WTF IS GOING ON? Angelo told me the anime starts in the middle of a VN path. Why can't you start from the beginning? The first episode had some crazy all out action scene which was fun and entertaining to watch, and one of the them had a ninja cat. If the show gave you a better grasp for what was going on I'd have kept it.

44. Dog Days
Status: Dropped - 2 Episodes
Not terrible. Had decent animation and some good moments in the two episodes I saw. The main character wasn't a jerk, or some random loser, etc. But the show was like Furry gladiator or something.

43. Oretachi ni Tsubasa wa Nai
Status: Dropped - 3 Episodes
This one was all over the place. It had some of the better dialogue I remember for the season, but the pacing and direction just seemed off. It did have that amazing scene with the loli flashing her panties and this black guy being like "didn't I tell you everyone in this country are pedophiles?"

42. Kamisama no Memochou
Status: Dropped - 5 Episodes
I enjoyed the first hour long segment and some bits of other episodes. But this is another case where it was hard to care about any of the characters. Alice was moe to the core, but even that could not help it for my rankings. I think this was a detective show... but I don't recall a lot of detective work actually happening. How do you become a detective while being a NEET... wait but she went outside sometimes too...

41. Kamisama Dolls
Status: Dropped - 6 Episodes
The first 17 minutes of an episode nothing happens, and then the last 3 minutes everything happens. I'm not really sure what the show was about, I think it was about Utao being moe. I also remember this mad scientist lady who captured the main villain.. and then like vanished from the show. The issue was that even by episode 6 it was hard to pin point character motives and so on making it seem like they were just going through motions.

40. Mashiroiro Symphony: The Color of Lovers
Status: Complete
This is a harem... completely average at that. It has a weird creature Panyaa which took all of the cute moments. I found it funny that after each characters arc they just seem to not have any real imput into the show at all, and how it turned into a show about helping injured animals. The sister was great since she had no emotion and always talked in the same voice. The show also had good art work.

39. Bakuman
Status: Complete
This one started out good, but Mashiro is just so terrible. The best character is that black crow kid, he's awesome. But Mashiro... and even his "girl friend" are awful. There also wasn't any real conflict or anything... at least as far as the manga thing went. It was only "oh we didn't do that well... so lets be sad for an episode and then get back on track."

38. Tamayura: Hitotose
Status: Complete
The sleeper hit of the year. Decent characters, some moe moments, an Aria like feel. But it's just hard to stay awake through episodes.

37. A Channel
Status: Complete
A K-on ripoff. I'm not sure how you fail at being moe to this extent. I guess Toruu was decent, but the jokes were... average at best. There were enjoyable moments scattered throughout, but could never really consistently put down a decent episode. The art work was pretty good, enough so at least that I noticed the effort they put into it. Also, yuri undertones.

36. Dororon Enma-kun Meeramera
Status: Complete
This had some great moments like "I enma kun sentence you to HELL" and stuff like that. Had some hilarious fan service, but eventually things became overused and stale. I like how side characters would like scream a movie name when getting hit or something too. Hit or miss sometimes, would have probably have benefited from a shorter season.

35. Hanasaku Iroha
Status: Complete
The first half was amazing, I was ready to give it a 10...and then the second half happened. I don't know how all the characters ended up going from great to terrible. I guess the show didn't want to fest it up. Also, Ko... how does a character who is barely in any episodes make it so bad?

34. Sengoku Otome: Momoiro Paradox
Status: Dropped - 5 Episodes
This is the highest ranked dropped show on the list. It's a boob fighter about a girl who was tossed back in time where generals are big boobed females. The show had some smile worthy moments and humorous action scenes, but ended up being just a little bit too generic after a couple of episodes gave a kinda light hearted feel.

33. Ao No Exorcist
Status: Complete
This series has the honor of being the only 6 I gave out all year. It was okay, the start when it was (y)ao(i) no exorcist and focused a lot more on Rin and such were really good, but the side characters just seemed to be there with a small back story but they are never developed. Rin and Yuki are great, but the rest of the cast, besides eye brows...because eye brows, are forgettable. The ending also seemed kinda rushed and laughable "Satan is not such a bad guy."

32. Ikoku Meiro no Croisée
Status: Complete
I complain about this one a lot, no development for the main character except for one episode, probably the most entertaining parts in the show have a character that ruined it, and so on. However, as a light hearted moe type affair it did the job pretty well. The characters end up being complete idiots though. What it lacks in substance it makes up for with some good moments. The main guy has the best name, Claude Claudel.

31 Nyanpire
Status: Complete
This is a cute little 3 minuter with a weird ED that scares me.

30. Pokemon Best Wishes
Status: Watching - 46 Episodes
After DPPs hit or miss season BW has become some what of a surprise. Ash's team is amazing this year, especially Oshawott and Troll Face Scraggy. Iris is kinda annoying, but no worse than Dawn. Cilan is pretty bro, a good replacement for Brock. Also, there are no contests either. Animation and such have been taken up a notch too. However, Pikachu did get reverted back to level 1.

29. Astarotte no Omocha!
Status: Complete
With such a laughable concept this one turned out alright. It's actually relatively light on the fan service, the first 3 minutes or so is like the most fan service in the entire show. It really turned out to be a fun little romcom, almost a coming of age type story. It did delve a little into super obvious gonna use the lolicon angle later on. The show had good natured characters who always though of other first... Mashiro (bakuman) could learn something.

28. Level E
Status: Complete
I really liked the start to this one, it became a little inconsistent but enjoyable. It was weird because a lot of the characters had nothing to do with eachother at all and it became hard to care about a lot of them. Still, it's sense of humor and smart writing made it at least a fun show to watch.

27. Guilty Crown
Status: Watching - 11 Episodes
This show has so much potential, just when I think the show is gonna turn the corner something happens which makes me RAGE. The animation and music are amazing. Shu shows sparks of being a good main character... and then you remember he's not... He's the Mark Sanchez of anime. It's too bad they really took 11 whole episodes to build his character to a point that shoulda only took like 5.

26. Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae wo Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai
Status: Complete
A little melodramatic for my taste. One thing is I wanted to punch all the characters in the face, besides Popo, he was a bro. I don't really get why once everyone knew about Memna and such they didn't do the writing thing... or some of the other loopholes. Oh, and don't forget the last episode, Crying: The Episode. Still, I can't really rank it down too much because of the drama and how well it presented itself.

25. Yumekui Merry
Status: Complete
Donuts and a midriff? Fanged character? Purplish hair? Ahwww yeah. This one had a great start, but lost a lot of its luster later on. I'd actually mark it down as a big disappointment based on early episodes. The art quality was inconsistent, but it had good music at least. The ending was rushed (Tsunami). Merry (character) is great.

This was done very very well, Daikichi is a great guy who is only trying to do his best. I did find it difficult to get really attached to the characters though. I can't really fault this show in anyway, but I'd be lying if I said I enjoyed it as technically good it was.

23. The iDOLM@STER
Status: Complete
This show slowly got better, it was inconsistent, but eventually pulled it out. I was very impressed how much you knew about a lot of the characters and their personalities at the end of the show, being there were so many. It was neat to see basically the evolution of the studio and the ups and downs of becoming famous. I kinda wish the producer would have blown the whistle on the other studio, but then I dont think there'd be a show.

22. Persona 4: The Animation
Status: Watching - 12 Episodes
To start they made Yu into a great greater, every time he opens his mouth I'm ready to laugh. Eh, it's okay, its fun because it's P4, but I can't really say they broke any adaptation ground or anything like that. Which waifu will Yu pick?

21. Shakugan no Shana III
Status: Watching - 12 Episodes
For a series I was waiting years on...it's been kinda dull. The early set of episodes were so slow and "omg somethign is gonna happen soon." there was a recap... but it was kinda needed, so I can't fault that. However, the past set of episodes have been really good. The fights have all been great, and this large scale battle where the world is basically at war really bumped it up a few knotches. Yujii is arguably terrible, but Shana is still Shana. If only a million universes didn't come into existence and then die in the time it took to say a name in this show.

20. Fate/Zero
Status: Completed S1
I'd say a major complaint I had early on is the lack of character development...or even interesting characters. Rider is the only one I really like. This was fixed later on as we found out more about some of the characters, but a lot of it still bored me. The fights were great, but relatively scarce. Also, Saber has been injured since like episode 3 or whatever, and has still yet to fight Lancer again. Beserker had one awesome fight, and then just leaves, and Assassin jobs like crazy.

19. HunterXHunter (2011)
Status: Watching - 13 Episodes
The main cast is great, they have a great chemistry. It is a super long shounen, so it is paced a little slower than I'd like. There also was a recap ep after only 12...WHY? In any case it has been a fun watch. Kinda average but the characters really make everything shine brighter.

18. Ben-To
Status: Complete
While it was not as good as I wanted it to be, half price bento is still serious business. Fight for food has new meaning. The characters are fun, especially Oshiroi and her writing. Sometimes I think it takes itself a little too seriously, but is still full of funny moments and fighting over food. It got kinda too random at the end with all the new characters and such, which knocked it down a little. The OP is great.

17. Shinryaku!? Ika Musume
Status: Complete
I'll say this one had some better segments than S1 (like the playing house, or exercise ones) but most of it was not as good. Don't get me wrong, I still liked it, but it just didn't have the charm the first season gave us. It's hard to really explain it without having watched both of them. The best part was when they played the S1 OP.

my friend theorized the problem with season 2 of Ika Musume is that they have really already explored everything they could do with the current cast of characters and basically refuse to move onto to stuff that could provide new comedic material. a few new characters were introduced this season, sure, but it was really mostly the same stuff and it's less fresh to us now. doesn't help that the 'plot' isn't going anywhere.

I thought K-On season 2 was worse, but the thing about K-On is that even with no forward momentum there was always different stuff happening. In Ika Musume it's basically broken down into a few select categories for what each skit can be about: Ika discovers something new and fresh and has to be educated about it (these ones are usually consistently on the good end of things since they typically have the most 'fresh' content), Sanae comes up with some plan to try and seduce Ika (these ones have gotten exponentially less funny as time goes on since they always end the same way), Ika randomly remembers that she is trying to invade and comes up with a plan that fails almost immediately (also getting tired although the interesting twists on them can make them unpredictably funny from time to time), one of the rivals of Ika or the lemon house arrives to challenge the main cast using the same gimmicks they've been using since season 1 (see the Sanae section above for my thoughts on this)

additionally the scope of Ika Musume is VERY limited to one small beach hut, Chizuru's house, and very occasionally other areas around the city. granted, you could argue that most of K-On takes place inside the club room but honestly having an entire school at your disposal gives quite a lot more options than one beach hut.

Also consider that Ika Musume episodes are broken into three skits. K-ON's slower pacing actually helps in a way since the idea of each episode might be dragged out a bit more but there is less danger of repeating themes from episode to episode.

After 5 episodes of K-On and 5 episodes of Ika Musume the writer for Ika Musume would have needed to come up with three times as many different comedy sketches. Over time that's going to give a huge disadvantage.

Yeah that was pretty much my point there. I've only watched 5 anime from this year all year so #1 isn't too prestigious or anything. If you expand it to what I watched from any year this year then I've got like double that, and Un-go is 2 or 3, but yeah. This year was pretty weak for quality of anime I bothered to watch.

just finished Panty & Stocking, gave it a flat 5/10 rating. . . which may actually be a bit deceiving. there were about an equal number of awful skits as hilarious skits. the last three episodes were also pretty great (I was thinking of giving the series a 4/10 until I got to episode 11), where 10 was easily the worst by far (most episodes had at least 1 funny skit and 1 bad one, episode 10 has like 4 terrible skits and then an alright musical thing).

biggest problem with the show aside from it being so hit or miss is that a lot of it is inexplicably boring. you think with the concept and style of humor there'd be a lot of stuff going on at all times but really there were many moments where I'd just be staring at the screen and even if something was happening it would be like 'god I just wish this would end and go on to the next scene'. biggest offender for this would be Chuck to the Future (surprise surprise, episode 10) - by the time they showed the third one in a row I was about ready to transform my own underwear into a gun so I could blow my brains out.

still it wasn't as awful as I was expecting and not nearly as bad as some people made it out to be. I think with some better direction it could have actually been a decent show.

16. Tiger and Bunny
Status: Complete
I pretty much thought this would be terrible based on the description, I didn't even know what it was about. The picture just screamed yaoi robots, or something. Anyways, it turned out to be a pretty good series. Wild Tiger is great, a true hero. Besides Bunny, and occasionally Blue Rose, the rest of the cast just seemed to be there. Each one (aside from Bison) got a side episode, but none of them really got development. Oh, they also copied the Raditz fight from DBZ. The scientist who spoke quietly was pretty funny too. I like how the city got like destroyed all the time too... like Angel Grove (power rangers).

15. The World God Only Knows II
Status: Complete
You know, I don't remember a lot about this. I remember Haqua being kinda bad, and each arc (Teacher, Track, Fighting... I think it's hard to separate S1 and S2). >.< Anyways, Elsie and her cooking is still great, and the conquest of 2D females is proven to be good training for the conquest of 3D females. It was good to see Keima actually have some difficulty this time around, if I remember (which I might not) he just seemed to have a little too easy a time in S1, even with the idol.

14. Last Exile: Ginyoku no Fam
Status: Watching - 10 (11?) Episodes
There seems to be a split on who likes this show. The people who don't like it are upset that the main cast of three females are cashing in on the moe wave. I think the cast is great, fun to watch, they have some great interaction, but you remember they are human and don't always get along either. Faces from S1 have popped up all over already and it's great to see them. What I'd say this does very well is show the scope of the entire world. The pas last exile kinda bit off a little more than it could chew, so I'm hoping this one stays consistent.

13. Sofuteni
Status: Complete
At first I thought this would be terrible... and then I watched it... and it was not. The cast was amazing, even the eat anything girl was not terrible. Full of funny moments and random fan service. Kurusu is great, she also beat a bear and made it a servant to her. The ending was kinda lame, which was too bad. There was also that two minutes of censors because of the Tsunami, that was amazing. The cast had zero substance at all, but they just had funny gimmicks. The rival team was good too, so was the trap with magic fingers.

12. Natsume Yuujinchou San
Status: Complete
There's a lot to be said about Natsume... soon to go into his fourth season. This season took a darker turn as it focused a lot more on how other deal with the Youkai. Aside from that if you've seen the first couple of seasons you pretty much know what's coming your way. Nyanko Sensei remains the best character. It can get a little boring, especially after you see S1 and 2 (even though it is arguably better). There's also a new female, Taki, who ends up being pretty good. They should change the name to Natsume's neverending book of friends.

11. Yuru Yuri
Status: Complete
Akariii! K-on with yuri undertones. What's not to love? Kyouko was great "I'm hungry, so feed me", and the other characters were pretty good. Chinatsu and her scary drawings, Akari's rape face, the episode where they are all lolis, all great. The OP is addicting, and now when I sway back and forth in a chair I'll start singing the start of it.

Top 10...later.

And the best part was all the random Sonic posters that they would show, and that the main console they feature is the Sega Saturn. Man, no one has that thing, so props to them for showing it. Too bad that they only game they played on it was Virtua Fighter which no one cares about these days.
