I already said for S1 I just watched whatever ones I found. I don't remember my episodes being full of squid puns so I'm pretty sure they weren't all Crunchy if any were at all.

Oh and for this season I never said I liked Crunchy's version. I just said it wasn't bad and that it's not literally unwatchable.

As with last year, I stumbled upon some of the first promotional materials for the new PreCure series (Smile PreCure) and figure I'll share for those interested (Nia, ed. . . and Mac so he can complain about it).

It actually looks. . . Very promising. I'm a little wary after Suite failed to meet some expectations but at the very least they've gone back to the art style that isn't so weird. Also - 5 Cures right from the start with apparently elemental based powers! We may have seen this formula before but only once, it's been a while, PreCure 5 and Go! were never fully subbed, and I much prefer this over the two cures + a villain (or villains) turns face formula which is getting really old.

Green is good too. The only one I sort of don't like is Blue and it's more just a case of her looking sort of bland compared to the others. I was more remarking on how they have the same exact color scheme as Yes! PreCure 5 (even sharing similar traits at a first glance - you can tell pink is the leader, red is probably tomboyish, yellow seems to be the most petite based on the pictures, etc.)

Also CLEARED Kimi to Boku earlier. As the best show of the season it had a great final episode with tons of hilarious moments and a bunch of awesome broroticisms. Ken-chan is an amazing little heel in training and the part where he thought Shun was a girl (even after he has cut his hair) was great. Seems like Yuki's powers of attraction don't just work on older women but kindergarteners as well.

The only disappointing part is that we didn't really cover any new ground in the whole Kaname/Kaori-sensei thing but I suppose there's next season for that. Although I have a feeling this episode confirmed he'll probably end up with his friends older sister in the end. Sort of disappointing since ALTERNATIVE ROMANCE is superior, but oh well.

I watched the Sengoku Basara movie earlier. Thought it was just as good as anything in either season. The best part was how at first I was thinking that none of the villains were good enough to be main villains and then pretty much the greatest thing ever happens. All of you girls who haven't seen it yet will just have to see for yourselves.

Ika Musume final ep watched. I'm gonna miss the OP. Wait, what? Aww yeah Chizuru. Zombies! Oh hey, it's the Eiko-bot. What's with those 3 being grouped together? Depression max. Drown? A Squid? Well, I guess it isn't saltwater. There's Tako Musume! D'aaaawww. Huh, lot of minor characters popping up. Of course.

Final impression: I disagree, 2nd season is just as strong as the 1st one. Double mini-Ika helped. Now give me my Just As Planned Tako Musume gecko ending.

Working S2 beated. It was pretty great overall, but there wasn't enough Inami and way too much Yamada and Poplar. At least it was funny watching those two be constantly bullied.

24. Gosick
Winter

This had some pretty big problems. Like the bad filler episodes and uninteresting. Alright why is this this high. Well first of all, it has Grevil de Blois. I mean if you think Kamina is ridiculous, you obviously haven't seen Gosick. Seriously, why does this dude even exist. Second of all, I really liked the ending and that obviously dictates how much I liked the entire series. I think the majority of winter shows being so bad magnified my opinion of this. ow well

23. Fate/Zero
Fall

Literally the greatest anime of all time. I just posted my thoughts on this a day ago so I won't go in depth agagin but I still enjoyed it despite all the problems... I guess? Honestly, I think the only reason besides Rider I enjoyed this at all is because I love F/SN and I'm associating it with that whoops

22. Ikoku Meiro no Croisee
Summer

Huh, the other French anime is right next to Gosick. Anyway, the beginning of this was promising but it got worse. Yune seemed like she was actually of at least average intelligence at first. Maybe spending time in France decreased her brain cell count? Yeah, sounds likely. And worse then Yune, Claude just turned into a huge douche for literally no reason. I mean don't get me wrong, this is hilarious but it's bad. Speaking of hilarious, Yune's character design. My god, she looks like a two year old alien.

21. Yuru Yuri
Summer

I had pretty low expectations for this since I thought it would be some loli fanservice thing. It was actually pretty funny. Kyouko was pretty easily my favorite and the lampshading of Akari being unimportant despite being the main character was pretty awesome. Hopefully, the sequel will canonize some of the pairings.

20. Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica
Winter

Literally the greatest anime of all time. It was pretty good at least. I wasn't really gripped by the characters or plot but it kind of reminded me of School Days (which is really one of the greatest anime of all time) in that it was entertaining see everything go wrong until the ending at least. Shame the ending wasn't as good as School Days'.

19. Tiger & Bunny
Spring

I thought this was going to pretty much be an advertising vehicle but it was actually pretty badass. I wasn't that into the beginning but once it stopped being as episodic, it improved. Part of that was probably me getting accustomed to the CG stuff which was okay I guess. I'm not really into CG in 2D animated stuff anyway but it didn't detract from the action or anything. The cast was solid if nothing spectacular with Sky High obviously being the best. I remember hearing about S2 being announced, was this true or was swordz9 making **** up. Note for saveus_maria – yaoi undertones or blue rose's ass take your pick

18. Mitsudomoe 2
Winter

I know we were all looking forward to Mitsuba's flab season 2 and we were granted our wish. Sucks it was only 8 episodes and it'll probably never get a sequel but it was good while it lasted. The thought of never hearing Futaba fart again makes me want to cry. Anyway, it was funny and I'd expect nothing more from it. Other than the dad being a badass which he of course was.

17. Moshidora
Spring

I honestly don't remember that much about this for some reason, I just know I liked it. First of all it was about baseball which is pretty much the most American sport there is besides pro wrestling. More importantly, there were manly speeches and broments. I like a good sports series and it's obviously good enough to be the seventeenth objectively best anime of 2011.


16. Shinryaku Ika Musume 2
Fall

I'm not sure if it was because I watched so many bad shows last fall or maybe some of the jokes just got tired, but I liked this season a bit less than the first one. For instance, Sanae was my favorite character of the first season and she just wasn't funny in this one. What the shell? They really inked up with her. Oh well, Ika and Chizuru were still good. Worst of all though... what the squid at the OP. S1's OP was awesome and I literally can't even remember what this one goes like.

15. Working!!
Fall

I liked this season quite a lot more than the first. Well, the main reason I didn't like the first was Inami. She wasn't in this one as much and she was less bad. Otherwise, solid comedy all around. Even Inami was involved in some funny scenes. Oh yeah, like Ika Musume what the hell is that OP. The first OP was probably the best from last year and this one yikes. Probably the biggest disappointment since the BroAndChar and The Mac Militant Anime Awards Extravaganza being canceled.

14. Baka Test 2
Summer

Countie comedy sequels. For the most part, it was as good as S1. But then the last few episodes happened which had a lot of dumb romantic drama. I mean no one gives a **** about any pairings in this series besides Yuuji x Shouko and they're already like engaged anyway. But yeah, some pretty hilarious stuff. The beach scene with Hideyoshi might have been my favorite scene in the whole series.

13. Mirai Nikki
Fall

In vintage fashion, I didn't really like the manga but I've enjoyed the anime so far. I'm not in love with it or anything but I'm pretty sure they've done a great job with the adaptation. The plot is pretty silly and it's only going to get more so but Yuno and Minene are awesome. The series kind of reminds me of an entertaining action movie with a silly plot except there is a severe lack of cheesy one liners in this. *drops it to the bottom of the list*

12. Hanasaku Iroha
Spring

This show had much potential at the beginning. The first episode is one of my favorites ever. It just had an amazing tone and it was really relatable. It stays good through the rest of it but it never lived up to the potential the first episode held. The main problem was probably Ohana's character. She acted serious or comedic totally depending on the scene. Augh. Not to go swordz9 but there were also a bunch of funny awkward fanservice scenes. Like the characters would be discussing serious stuff in the middle of taking a bath. It wasn't really even fanservice since it didn't show anything at all, I guess the creators just thought the characters being naked was pivotal to the scenes.

11. Kimi to Broku
Fall

Unlike Hanasaku, I'm pretty sure this lived up to its potential as much as it could have. The beginning was kind of boring but who knew that 12 episodes later there would be a new student who was actually a dude and a total bro and that Kaname aka darkmac would be banging his kindergarten teacher. Plus, there was literally an episode about Shun's brother asking everyone about doujins. It's a shame about all the sexists not being able to look past the main characters being guys instead of girls who act like they're in preschool.

10. Kimi ni Todoke 2
Winter

I'm literally sitting here laughing at this placing so high and thinking about it. I ****ing love the first season and I was so excited for this. There was pretty much no way this wouldn't be my favorite anime of 2011. Oh... there was a way. It's called terrible pacing and stupid stupid romantic misunderstandings. Augh. The majority of this season was painful, made even worse having to wait a week for each episode. Plus, no actual developments happen in several episodes. So why is this in the top 10? Because when Sawako and Kazehaya finally, FINALLY, get together, it's ****ing awesome that's why.

9.OreImo Specials
Winter

Not as good as a new full season would be but I was pretty glad this was made. First of all, Kuroneko is obviously better than Kirino (LordEmbok > meisnewbie) so of course I was on board for Kuroneko being the focus. And plus, the story is literally about creating a deep and meaningful porn game. Akagi was pretty funny too. What wasn't funny was th3l3fty whining to me when he watched this after he already didn't like the TV series.

8. Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai aka I don't have many friends aka The Life and Times of a b8anime user

Literally a series about a club for people who have no friends aka b8anime. This was just really funny. I thought every character was funny and few jokes fell flat. I'm not sure who my favorite character was. Yozora was at first but I probably like Sena or Rika more. Kobato is also awesome. I really hope it gets a sequel since there wasn't even the scene where they realize they've all been nakama this whole time. Note this isn't spoilers since I haven't read the novels or anything but there is no way in hell this scene doesn't happen.

7. Mazinkaiser SKL
Winter

Holy **** only five people on my MAL friends have seen this. I guess they can't even spend one hour watching something that doesn't have H scenes. SuperAngelo128 obviously gave it a 5 instead of what he really felt about it so b8anime doesn't look down on him for scoring something too low under the acceptable range. Anyway, this was just really badass. There's not much of a plot besides kill the ****ing bad guys because **** having a plot that's for girls. It's basically just about two bros killing everything in sight while heavy metal music blares in the background. One of the best series from last winter.

6. Steins;Gate
Spring

Literally the greatest anime of all time. This was great throughout. I really liked both halves, the beginning where it was just about hanging out and doing science and **** and then the second where there was a real plot. My favorite part about the show was the cast. I liked everyone a lot except Moeka. The original four lab members were my favorites, it just got too mainstream after them. The plot in the second half was pretty intense and the time travel was used well. It was cool seeing Kyouma be so awesome and heroic and much to swordz9's pleasure, he has no qualms with punching women in the face. Also a fun fact, Daru literally got edwardsdv to drop the show. I guess he hit a little too close to home.
