Productive day. Reviewed all of Tae-Kim I'd done to this point and did a whopping 5 lines of ROOF (dumbest mistake: "newbie mamiya translates as space palace what the hell is that is it a compound word I can't find or what? ... oh... it's a name, right, I guess the 'kun' should've tipped me off <_<"). Yeah that's mostly cause I was reviewing till it was pretty late cause review took longer than expected.

meisnewbie said that translating the lines has probably been slowing me down and that I should be trying to get a more instinctive feel for the words so I'm going to stop doing that for a bit-- but I don't feel like doing much more right now and don't want to forget what just happened (since no translation means I can't just read my tranlsation to refresh myself) so I'm going to stop for tonight. I'll do a good amount more tomorrow-- with probably another Tae-Kim cram session during the day beforehand. Gonna put in a lot of study tomorrow... oh yeah...!

Didn't do much of ROOF again. UMVC3's fault, really. But I did a few lines again just to aim broad. Actually amusingly I did them without actually using Rikai (but then checked to make sure I was right with Rikai)-- I totally nailed that smoke+grass was tobacco at a glance at the kanji and by using my mad jukugo smartz. Yeahhhh.

Roof beated. Only took like an hour I was closer than I thought. Not too many issues now that I'm not trying to get the lines completely literally, though I'm still somewhat skeptical as to how much it's helping given how much I'm using Rikai to limp through the lines. I guess the biggest benefit I feel I'm getting is by asking newbie questions.

Finally got to hacking away at the cards. The near 500 I had due was scaring me away for a while but now that I've gotten it a bit below 200 I should be back on track. On the plus side almost all the cards I did were made mature and I got correct so it feels like real progress and the two weeks I took off should make things flow easier in the future getting all those cards mature. ROOF restarts maybe Saturday.

Done with Baldr Force EXE, going to install Baldr Sky.

Total questions asked: 18. 3 per route. I probably needed to ask more (about... 6?) but for the ones that I had slight doubts about and asked I've been sticking them so I'm not *too* worried about misunderstanding stuff.

The prose in Baldr Force is written in a very easy to read fashion, with not many large kanji walls. And even when you do get them, it's usually just organization names or have furigana that tells you what it is anyway. The font is kinda painful to deal with though and a significant portion of the plot relies on understanding stuff displayed in a database... which is unhookable. The database stuff is a tiny part of the game though.

The actual mech battles are really fun too. Assuming you don't projectile spam, making up a combo, practicing it and then using it makes you feel really cool, especially when you use a force crash at the end of it..

So yeah, lopen you need to speed up :(
