I should have like 19 emeralds by now I'll mention this again...! Tails cannot lose you rings! He can only lose what he picked up, which means you missed them. If you didn't have Tails, you'd never have those rings to lose in the first place. Legitimate complaints exist for Tails however. For instance, how he'll hit a boss and make it invincible for a second, causing you to fall through and die in a pit (Chemical Zone, Angel Island) or lose rings (Oil Ocean, probably others). ... Just takes practice! After a while, your reaction time gets better, and you sort of get a feel for where enemies are.

1-It's easy to get unstuck out of there
2-If you keep running into enemies and taking damage, then perhaps you should just press down to start rolling. You'll probably be safe if you're rolling. In fact, in Sonic 1, you go faster while rolling and keep momentum better. I usually do that, and it worked well in 1 and 2, but it's not helping much in 3. My problem is flat parts that have offscreen enemies on them. Normally when I'm platforming I'm taking it slow and not getting hit. But when I see a flat stretch, I usually think that it's okay to go faster. And it usually is okay, but there are times where an enemy will suddenly pop up in my face. It's very frustrating.
