you could tell within 30 seconds that Bionic Commando was going to the top with how Jeff handled the grappling hook. that game has a flow state to it once you fully grasp the mechanics and if you can feel it, it's one of the very best.

I already have the Vivi weapon at OB10+3 and there are still 17 copies available in the event store. I think I might be done with the event until the next content drop hits.

I'm gonna max Shiva in a few fights but need those campaign crystals, so just doing the 28k fight in case I get a good drop that I don't need

my first attempt was an A+ on the VH event. good for 15th place for now, which will drop very quickly.

time to grind Shiva without using stamina boost I guess so I don't run out of memories I can cash in, run out of co-op medals for the week or waste stamina getting to 50 kills

yeah blue mage destroys the game if you know what's up. you don't even need some huge list of spells. bosses go down in one hit to a whole bunch of stuff.

for those who have it: is the online stuff something that will cease being cool in like two months when I get around to it? I think I'll put this under the christmas tree

that b40 fight hits way harder than I thought it would. I just ate 20k in defensive mode.

it's a damage race and I'm just not strong enough to break his sigils. I can probably pull it off if everything goes my way, but eh, I can wait until my weapons are a little stronger.

lots of careful equipping and weapon building. I have a ton of fire res which was super important to let me stay in attack mode to keep the charge gauges down. I focused my main guy on PATK up skills and gave him blizzara blow, and then focused my healer on heal/MATK/ice pot. up. the fight vs. the 177k bombs in wave 2 might have been scarier because you have to be quick once they go below half HP and their HP is high.

oh man I beat very hard Ifrit, and it kinda wasn't close somehow

now I just need to grind out some stupid fire synthesis items and hellfire is mine

if you thought stamina was hard to go through before, wait til you see this update

I'm trying to invest in weapons with fire resistance or ice attack, but I feel so constrained by what weapons I've been lucky enough to overboost. I guess that's the game, though

I had one of those last week. I have all the prereqs done but the 177k fight. I just don't have the power yet to deal with knocking down the charge-up and that's frustrating. I might need to spend some time leveling up Shiva.

does anyone actually know what potency means on the summon growth grids? how is it different from upgrading the limit break?

and there it is! lots of cool new stuff to play with, and a lot of blue crystals to get for just playing the game. throwing combat on auto for these early co-op battles and dungeons and letting other guys level up is fun. I'm fighting one of them as I write this post!

I didn't love that one (I did finish it though). I liked the first remake more, but I like the first gbc game more too

did other people get into this? I went a little deep and caught every monster available, killed all the mini-boss enemies and did way too much breeding. I don't know what exactly will carry over but if it's everything, the next few areas are going to get crushed by me.

I made some good progress today. I beat the Crisis Core story mode missions, grinded Ifrit enough to get 200 sword parts for Zack's ifrit sword and then got the 5 star drop after many tries in the hard mode fight (I think it's more likely to drop when you get higher score ranks?). I guess it was a Zack day.

the other main thing I did was materia grinding. I think EC is super well made for what it is, but if there was one complaint I had it'd be about trying to navigate Materia menus. just trying to see what materia is what and trying to sort and filter them is super cumbersome, but I think I have 3 of each element in -ra form now, finally. I don't yet have 3 each of the spell and the "blow" attacks yet so I might work on those. right now I'm trying to decide on if I should prioritize that or trying to get some of these above level 5, because once you get past 7 or so, it's a real grind. grinding out synthesis parts also kinda sucks but I used the co-op very hard fights for those where I could to make things easier.

I'm curious to see what the next wave of content is going to be in 3ish hours. we'll get new co-op fights and hopefully another twist on the event, since I think most people are done farming the event for items.

I don't know how you guys do it. I play this game all the time, have to charge my phone throughout the day so it doesn't run out of battery, am close to level 50 with 95kish power... and still have like 90 stamina tonics.

that's my next fight in the tower. I decided to hold off since I was around 80k and that boss is around 120k. sounds like a good move based on what you're saying.

speaking of, how high are you roughly? I'm at about 87k now, levels ranging from 42-46 and most of my main weapons in the 60-70 range.

yeah, I think it's the second to last chapter on first soldier. I was slow on it too

the new event boss is kinda fun. okay it's not actually fun at all, but the new rewards are welcome after farming the original one for a week.

these events and stamps and whatnot really lock you into what type of build you're going to go for, at least for now. you'd be stupid not to use zack's umbrella weapon and now glenn's new one when they give you 6-7 5 star copies without much effort. you don't have to use the character but if you do, you're probably going with those weapons.

I thought it was neat too, but then I think about how the plate falling went and how Barret reacted compared to Tifa, and it felt kinda out of place.

how are people feeling about these retcon story quests? I can't decide if they're cool little backstories that fill in minor details or throwing these one off scenes in a gacha game is just cheap fanservice. I think they're pretty nicely made though given what the game is.

I still have tons of gil, but the near infinite resources are looking awfully finite lately. summon growth is the biggest stamina grind in the game by far, my god.

I'm slowing down a little. I'm in the 40k range and beat the FF7 campaign.. and now it's kind of just grinding to take on the same monster with higher stats, so that I can take on the next level same monster with higher stats.

I'm still unlocking new stuff and I still kinda enjoy the grind so I'm sure I'll continue, but maybe not at the same rate as I was going before. I still have to finish the first soldier campaign but that means leveling up other guys and eh. it's not hard and it's not a bad campaign, I'm just not super interested.

once you get up to level 50-ish on weapons, the grind to get materials becomes a lot less rewarding as they are harder and harder to get. it's not even a gacha thing as I have stamina for days. the items are just harder to find.. which I guess is a gacha thing, but spending a boatload of money wouldn't really fix it. anyway, game is fun and I'm enjoying it. I'll probably get a bit higher so that when new chapters are added, I'm already able to deal with them.

yeah for me it's aerith's fairy tale (which I had been using from the start, but it's four star) and the new Tifa weapon that I pulled at 4 as well. I think that's going to be my team along with Cloud, who's rocking a level 50 Buster Sword that probably isn't great but it's what I've invested in

edit: I wasn't sure if there was a way to get those weapon parts outside of recycling a weapon. I know there's a weapon exchange in the menus that would let you do some of that but I'm guessing that's where real money comes in and I'm team $0 on this thing

what's the smartest way to get the materials for my 4 star weapons to make them 5 star? that's been my biggest struggle lately

I'm only an hour in but I really enjoyed my time with it so far. at first I was wondering why they had you play a few minutes before flashing back, but I think it's just to avoid criticisms about no gameplay in the first hour. love the tone it's setting and the music goes a long way.

ff6 is an abstraction, quite literally written as a play. it's not meant to be taken as realism in the slightest. that's not defending ff6, because it's not perfect, but trying to logic your way through it will never work with those old snes rpgs.
