Bubbles are extremely good for clearing out enemies and projectiles. If you want to be able to use them while sprinting through the level, maybe they're not as suited for that as the normal fireballs.

you'll usually get matched up 3 other randoms and they're dark souls style ghosts so you can't interact with them directly, but you can put your standee down and if they die they can use that to revive and you can do the same with their standees. But it's just fun to see other people running around and seeing how they tackle levels at the same time you're playing them or if you see someone stuck seeing them watch you and try to emulate it.

From my limited experience the only annoying flaw so far is a single save file. No idea why there is only ONE when nearly all Mario games have had 3 and it makes it especially annoying for anyone who has other people who want to play it, but also prefer playing solo.

I know, but its still dumb you have to make a separate profile at all when virtually every Mario game back to 3 decades ago had multiple save files. I just dont get why for this one Nintendo was like nah just one per profile

I guess, but it's the modern standard. Multiple save slots in-game were the standard for systems where that was the only way you could implement it.

Online is pretty fun, but the levels are getting whacky enough now with so much going on, I find myself turning it off more. Those ghosties are a little distracting. And I always turn it and any actually useful badges off (usually opting for the extra coins when defeating enemies badge) on Castle levels. No help on those!

People don't always stick around each other, so the revival mechanic doesn't always make things too easy, but it can still cut back the challenge a bit. And I love that this game is actually pretty challenging. Probably gonna start keeping it off more and turning it back on when going back for 100%.

Wall jumping is so not my forte.

And yet I managed to beat the Wall-Climbing Jump Challenge II, which I felt pretty good about!

...and then I had to do it like 8 more times before I finally managed to snag the top of the flagpole.

Suffice to say, I am much better at wall jumping after all that, lol.

The online stuff is just weird to me. Like, Im not used to playing a Mario game and having those other players in the background. The standee thing sounds like it makes things maybe too easy too. Dunno what to make of it. I guess Ill leave it on for now and see if it grows on me.

I'm seeing a lot of people saying they've turned the online off because the other players are too distracting. I haven't bothered to try it yet, but I can definitely see how that could be the case. Also I want to figure the stages out on my own and not accidentally watch other people figure stuff out first.

I've mostly finished World 1, missed a couple levels I need to go back for...

I'm not a huge fan of the game so far, surprisingly! Which is weird for me, because I'm usually blown away by a brand new Mario game--Odyssey's in my top 10 games of all time, NSMBU is my favorite 2d Mario for sure. So, I'm not a "new game = bad game" type of fan.

But so far, it constantly feels like the game is playing ME, more than I'm playing IT. Something wacky happens, and I'm just making split second decisions analyzing what I think the level designer wants me to do. I feel like I might prefer to watch someone else play through it so I can just enjoy the spectacle.

It's also giving me a familiar stress about missing "key items" that are gonna block me later in the game, and constantly worrying about having to re-play entire levels to fix my mistakes, except my mistakes aren't really mistakes, I simply didn't think exactly like that level designer wanted me to.

(3D world also had this problem with its easily missed green stars which are required to unlock all levels, and sure enough, I wasn't a big fan of that game either. This game has the easily missed wonder seeds AND easily missed purple coin stuff.)

BUT I'm still very early, and it is very pretty =]

I think you just have to change your mentality with collectibles. I was like this and had that problem with 3D World initially too. Eventually I learned to only replay the level right away if I actually wanted to experience the level again. Don't do it just for collectibles. You need so few Wonder Seeds to progress through the main game here. I just go back at the end of the main game to wrap up 100% and always have a good time doing it.

I'm surprised you enjoyed NSMBU so much (I did too) because that also has a lot of collectibles and easily missable secret exits.

Sure maybe the requirements are light, but there's no way for me to know how light, and if I completely ignore them, there's a chance it'll bite me later, so I can't. They've made it a central goal of the gameplay.

I just prefer how NSMBU never required the collectibles a single time, so I could comfortably ignore them unless I was in the mood for an extra challenge. Extra collectible challenges are good, but why require it, in a game where hunting for them is awkward, because the levels are not designed for hunting!

Secret Exits on the other hand, I'll never have a problem with those, those were in Mario 1/2/3/World so they're part of the series' core formula. If you don't like Secret Exits there's probably not a Mario game you do like, I bet.

You definitely can know how light the requirement is. you can see the piranha plants around the castle of each world when you get there, and how many seeds it will take to get rid of them.

Since the seeds are color-coded by world, you shouldnt need more seeds from a single world than it takes to get to the castle. Theyre only relevant to the world where you found them, so leaving some behind cant come back to haunt you later.

Took about 15 tries for that Climb to the Beat level. I had to hold my controller differently than usual though because it was hurting my thumb to hold the dash button and jump that much at the same time

Play offline with Yoshi or Nabbit on the stage in world 3 where there's a wonder fruit right at the beginning and you run through with an invincibility star the whole way picking up flower coins and flower coin fragments and just suicide right before the section ends

But make sure to actually finish the stage on your final run or it won't save your coins
