I've only played 0 and 7 so far which funnily enough makes me completely oblivious to the 'actual' mainline story with Kiryu and Majima.

Interestingly I think 6 is the only Yakuza I'd put in this topic. Most of the rest definitely have connections and recurring characters but not to the point you couldn't feasibly start with them.

Yakuza games tend to be self-contained stories with the real continuity being in clear character development from one game to the next, not payoffs of hanging plot threads not being resolved like some others in the topic.

Basically they're more like something like the Die Hard movies or a season of 24. Completely possible to use any given one of them as an entry point, you just won't get quite as much out of it as if you did them all in order.

This is compared to something like Trails where if you don't play them all before Cold Steel 4 you will just be completely and utterly lost on many major plot threads and character arcs.

Xenoblade 2's art style is better than Xenoblade 1's and its not even remotely close. Also nearly every major character in Xenoblade 2 is better than most of the characters in 1 (Shulk, Dunban, and Melia are the only characters I'd actually say 'are good', Reyn is a fun meme comic relief character though).

Rex is not well designed or generally a good character though, whereas Shulk is both of those. Even at Rex's best I'd call him 'inoffensive' and he definitely is not at his best most of the game.

Nia is the best character in either game by a complete long shot. Like you could probably put at least two football fields between Nia and the next best character.

Xenoblade 1's overall plot is better than 2's, though.

Also upgrading Blades in 2 isn't that big of a deal because you aren't going to use that many. It is technically less optional than Xenoblade 1's side quests are but its like... so inconsequential its not even worth considering imo.

Yeah idk if I agree with Suikoden 2 being on this these days

But regardless,

Suikoden 2 > Lufia 2 > Live a Live > Front Mission 1 > Secret of Evermore > Romancing Saga 3 > Sailor Moon > DBZ

All of them are pretty good to some extent or another though. Legend of the Saiyans is probably the only one I wouldn't recommend to someone unless they REALLY wanted to play a DBZ RPG specifically. Sailor Moon is a bit above that in the 'I'd recommend it, but only if you've already played the majority of other JRPGs on the SNES'.

I consider both Suikoden 2 and Lufia 2 to be 'must plays' if you like JRPGs, personally.

Yeah I definitely would not say the "Core" of Xenoblade's gameplay is side quests.

There are a lot of them and some of them are worth doing if you can get over how grindy and uninteresting a lot of them are, but its hardly the 'core' of the game.

I would probably recommend most people skip the majority of side quests, myself, unless they're REALLY into the game.

I didn't like cashews when I was a kid and brazil nuts were my favorite but now its the opposite.

I can't really give pistachios a fair shake because I am and always have been mildly allergic to them (and a few other nuts + mushrooms but its the worst with pistachios for some reason, can't even eat a small handful without getting a severely scratchy throat).

I like orange flavor the most but I hate actually eating oranges unless they are supremed because I hate the texture of the segment walls and they're too much of a pain to supreme for personal consumption. If I'm gonna go through the effort to do something like that its gonna be with an easier citrus to do it with like a pommelo.

So I'ma go with apples, so long as they're Fuji, Pink Lady, or Honeycrisp. Most other varieties suck for just straight up consumption.

Bananas are just okay. They're just kind of mostly tasteless mush to me.

Despite me voting Krabby last round, Kingler is pretty near the bottom of this list for me (its not anywhere close to as bad as Barbacle though which while not AS bad as its unevolved form, is still atrocious). It's literally just 'Krabby but slightly bigger'.

The rest are all pretty good. Crustle is a bit dumb, but in a funny way.

Still funny though.

For a bigger picture of the MHA universe. The bigger problem is that it is way too cemented in "ideals" more than anything. Like "what does it mean to be a hero" and all of that. But it rarely explores this and doesn't do anything interesting with these premises. Bad guys are always bad guys and good guys are always good. There are little nudges where something could be different sometimes, but they never explore anything.
I could not possibly disagree with you more about this paragraph. I do agree that S5 of MHA wasn't that good overall, but this just screams "I'm not actually paying attention".

Literally one of the main, core themes of MHA is that all that really separates a hero from a villain is circumstance, and that no one is necessarily beyond redemption. The villain arc was all ABOUT showing that the bad guys aren't just bad guys.

A4 Normal was never a problem.

It was A3S and A4S that almost killed raiding. Pepsiman was brutal for most casual groups and if you managed to get past him, the worst mechanic in all of FF14, Nisi, was waiting for you.

Also A2S is just not a good fight (neither is A2N really, but its easy at least).

I like Alexander's plot overall, personally, and its cool it gave some lore on Au Ra before we actually got to a zone with Au Ra properly in it. Kind of sucks when you learn that Mide's tribe ultimately got wiped out, though.

I will say that it is a bit weird how FF14 does the Ivalice stuff
Like... both FFT and FF12 seem to have just... happened in their entirety at some point in the past, with small differences.

It's a little weird.

I realize they basically did the same thing with Crystal Tower but I feel like it's not as egregious there because FF3's story is like... not as fleshed out as Tactics and 12, so 14 put more of its own spin on it there.

I wish I had already reached 90 with my Ninja so I could actually understand what these changes are doing

Basically at 90 you got an ability that, every time you used Raiton, it gave you a new ability you have to use immediately after that you used twice (the proc is lost if you didn't use it).

It was very strong but kind of clunky to use, because both parts of it are gap closers and since you have to use them immediately it can force you into weird situations where you want to use it but can't, or don't want to use it but can.

What they did is split them into two abilities (which still combo off Raiton), one is a gap closer that is weaker, and the other is just a strong attack now. So you basically pick one or the other based on if you need a gap closer or not (its kind of like a reverse Red Mage backflip situation).

Because it's now two abilities, they put the Bunshin finisher, Hosho Ranryu, on the Bunshin button itself instead of being a separate button so as not to bloat hotbars more (honestly probably what it should have been to begin with anyway).
