I'd kind of assumed that was pretty rare, but I realize I don't actually know at all. --- This is my signature. It isn't actually that uncommon for storms to survive landfall, especially with Florida since it is so narrow and the storms can get back out over the ocean quickly and larger storms can span the land and be over the ocean on both sides. Went to the ABC yesterday and stocked up just in case it tried a okie doke. Also grabbed a dozen cans of food and a 24pk of water at Food Lion. There have been 19 tropical cyclones that have crossed Mexico or Central America from the Atlantic into the Pacific or vice versa since 1851. It didn't manage to regain hurricane strength, but Ivan plowed through multiple states before went back to sea, said hello to Florida, and then regained enough strength to become a tropical storm before managing to make US landfall a third time.
