An interesting quirk of is game is that virtually every attack actually ignores the back row penalty unless its the basic fight command using a melee weapon. Special attacks, like Sabins Blitzes or Edgars Tools, that look like they should be melee range actually ignore row anyways. Thor 2 introduces the reality stone, kills off Thors mom, kills off Loki which sets up Odins death in Thor 3, and is returned to in Endgame.
