Yes honestly, lol. I don't think many people who own pepper spray test it out when they buy it.

First time I got some pepper spray I tested it into the air. I immediately realized you seriously need at least 8 feet between you and the intended target unless you want a taste.

Yesterday I found two very old bottles of pepper spray. Also sprayed into the air, but I stayed farther away. Still induced sneezes and pepper sensation in my mouth.
