...from his dad's liquor cabinet. It's a Glenlivet 12 year old.

I'm quite embarrassed about this. I'm sure he didn't mean it as a grand gesture and was just cleaning out a cupboard, but I can't keep thinking to myself, "all you've had to say about this guy is that he gets on your tits, and now he's giving you his dad's expensive scotch".

man, don't we all have these kinds of moments where we really hate somebody, but then they do something nice and it's like, "... eh, they're alright"

The worst part is, I don't hate him because he's a bad person. He doesn't do anything wrong or shitty. He's never mean or passive aggressive or false.

He's just incredibly boring. Like you know someone who tells the dullest story you've ever heard, sparing no details, and then ends on a punchline that is so devoid of humour that you have to read the other person's face to realise that they intended it to be funny? He's that guy.

Even after gifting me this bottle, he treated me to a 5 minute story (literally 5 minutes) about that time 20 years ago when he got so drunk he nearly had his stomach pumped (but didn't), and now that's why he doesn't drink scotch. It started with how he had two beers at such and such a bar and then started on scotch at another bar and puked his guts out outside another bar. Etc.

So imagine someone who tells a story like Kevin Smith, but without the comedic timing or charisma to pull off that level of meandering detail. That's this guy.

Sometimes I just have to walk out the room because he doesn't realise that listing off the various bus routes that he knows is really uninteresting.

Yeah I'm definitely an asshole.
