Question, can the video link be a Spotify link? There's a song with a version I prefer on Spotify, if not no worries.

I would prefer You tube, but you can go ahead and link to Spotify instead, if the version you wish to nominate is only available there. The only condition is I must be able to access the song in full to listen to it. If I cannot do so, then I will ask for something else.

Oh, and because I saw paperwarrior comment on it before editing their message earlier, I had thought about how one would define who the hero of the song is for something like Holding Out For a Hero that doesn't actually mention who this hero actually is and is about more speaking of a hypothetical one? I had thought about making a quick line about it but wanted to see if this issue would actually come up first. In any case like that, I'm less picky about stating the "hero" of the nomination and either you can just set it as "N/A" (as there's no defined character) or along the lines of a hypothetical hero, prophecy or a concept of a hero. I will probably decide when listening to these if there's something more appropriate to name them as based on the lyrics.

BTW, while I would prefer you don't once you have posted your noms, you can make any changes/switches should you feel something else should be in. I only request you do so sooner rather than later. At a certain point, I'll stop allowing changes once we get closer to the nomination period ending.

**** it, seeing all these music ranking topics makes me want to do my own thing now, so let's do this! And yes, I did feel inspired by Johnbobb's Villains rankings to do a hero variation in contrast because... Why not?

Let's clarify some things first. When I say "Hero song", I mean any piece of music (mainly vocals, though if people want to try their luck with instrumentals, sure) either centered around or sung by a character who would be considered a hero or a "good example". Doesn't necessarily have to be a super hero or a knight in shining armor, it could just be an everyday normal person with no "special powers". Oh, and I guess anti-heroes and reformed baddies are fair game too (within reason).

Also, the character(s) either must be fictional, falls into someone playing an act or persona and not just themselves (such as a wrestling character), or is a fictional depiction of someone who hasn't been alive for the last, I dunno, 50 years (let's avoid putting anyone recent in). That's the criteria. No villains, and avoid songs about villains that are "perceived" as heroes when they are, in actuality, not heroes.

There's no limit on the type of media chosen either. Musical number, pop song, folk lore, character theme, they're all eligible. Just as long as the nomination in question is under 10 minutes (anything over 10 minutes I will not be ranking, thank you).

Songs will be ranked on three categories, similar to Johnbobb's villain rankings.

1. Heroism - How well the song conveys the values of good in relation to the character in question. Would I get the impression that this character is a "hero" or a good guy based on listening to this song? And how would they compare to other heroes?

2. Characterization - The effectiveness of informing the listener of who this character actually is. What does this song tell us in terms of their goals, their actions and motives, perhaps why they are like this, do we better understand the character?

3. Enjoyment - How much I liked the song. If I don't like it, it gets a bad rating. If I'm mixed or indifferent on it, it probably gets a middle-ish rating. If I love it, it'll get a very high rating.

The first two categories will be ranked from 0 to 5 (I personally think going with out of 5 will work better for those first two categories rather than stretch out both to 10) and the Enjoyment category is from 0 to 10, adding up to a potential 20 points. Tiebreakers will be sorted by personal preference.

With all that out of the way, each user will have four nominations to use. Please use the below template when nominating. I may add a fifth nomination at a later date depending on total noms but I'm placing a hard cap of 120 nominations to avoid being overwhelmed (final nomination total may or may not be lower than that).

I dont love this soundtrack. Most of the arrangements feel like theyre too bland. Life in the Mines was primed for an exciting arrangement (maybe there is one on another level?) but this is justI dunno, a watered down version of the SNES original, with somehow even faker sounding samples. Its this high in the 5s because I do still really like the original!

There IS another arrangement in the game, but it's basically the same arrangement with one or two extra layers of instrumentation added in, and I preferred the track without those additions in, so that's the song I nommed. The arrangement in question (if you wish to judge for yourself);

Preferably just port over Smash Ultimate + DLC to the new console and call it a day. Don't add any new fighters/stages to the base game. If they can, just introduce new fighters through fighter passes for a few years and that's that.

Alternatively, simply just don't have a new Smash game on the next console and give the series a rest for about a decade. You could do some other crossover genre instead (just don't market it as a Smash Bros game). You then bring back the series with a heavily reduced roster of 40 something and a few different features on the console after and use season passes to add in further content over the course of the console's lifespan.
