Also the Vikings acquired Houston's 1st round pick, so I'm guessing they plan to trade up, maybe for Drake May?

Which I guess would mean New England isn't sold on drafting him.

I keep seeing McCarthy enter these discussions too. Some mock drafts have the Chargers trading down, which feels a little crazy to me because Nabers is so darn good.

That's fair, I can't say I'm the most knowledgeable about the genre. I think most of the hip hop I do enjoy has been post-2000, I've struggled to get into even the earlier albums I've been recommended (some of which you mentioned).

Raising Hell came out before the SP-1200 and the Akai MPC, which is what pretty much everything that came after was made with. It was a perfect storm - Run DMC kicked open the doors for other artists, who also gained access to equipment that is still relevant today. It was also the first hip hop album to chart the way it did and it's multi-platinum. It feels like it's being regarded as if I nominated some obscure gimmicky album, but that was never my intent. alas.

TopicWhat was the biggest leap between gaming console generations?
neonreaper
03/09/24 10:14:45 AM

2->3 was a huge leap in how action games flowed from start to finish. RPGs were already there, Adventure, Cloudy Mountain, Ultima, Wizardry, etc. Still, the 8-bit era really made those games focus on user experience. I'll take NES Ultima IV over PC. I loved the Gold Box games but honestly, NES Pool of Radiance was better than PC. Games stopped feeling like something you tricked a computer into doing.

My gut still went with 5->6. I feel like computer gaming sorta covered the jump from 4->5 for me in terms of polygons. And I think the new world of 3D gaming for consoles made for less polish and gameplay focus. It also enabled some great stuff! I guess I feel like the best games of this era were 2D games or RPGs. And OoT.

5->6 is when games seemed to catch up and pass most PC games. PC games had mods and online multiplayer but PCs were also very expensive. And prone to all sorts of issues that weren't always easy to diagnose. And hardware support issues, etc.

I started on normal and bumped up to hard for some bosses. If it was too much of a struggle I went to normal. For the non-boss fights I think I actually put the game down to easy because those fights were more of a slog on normal-hard imo.

I also avoided spoilers and discussion like the plague. Maybe if I had seen a few tips I would have liked it a lot more.

I read that the game design is such that you are intended to swap a lot, treat it like ATB. I certainly didn't do it and didn't love the combat so I am guessing I did it wrong, as the combat in FF7R is cited as a high point of the game.

I didn't really get the spirits in FF7R and I didn't really get what they really wanted me to do in combat (ie switch between characters all the time, I instinctively played it like you'd play something like FF16). So it was a bit of a struggle for me to enjoy at times.

I've been a defender of DLC for ages but I was a bit irked by Yuffie DLC tbh.

I probably need these games to all come out, and all the DLC to be out.

....see you in a week

Getting MHJ and Bowers would be a really fun first round for Chicago.

It's a deep draft so if they trade down, that would make sense. There's a lot of firepower in the first two rounds so they really should come out of the draft with their answer at QB as well as someone who can get separation.

I am not sure what Fields trades make sense. I see either way too little or way too much. At the same time he's in an awkward position with his contract, and has really proven he's a fifth year option/extension guy and teams only have a year to figure it out. I think the market for him is small. The teams that would benefit from having Fields already have QBs, like Cleveland or NYJ.

(as a Pats fans I see a lot of "Fields + pick 9 for the Pats pick 3" and it's like... wut)

Having the #3 pick makes it fun to look at mock drafts and think about what the Pats will do.

My big thing is if you get a QB, you have him backup for a year if possible. I feel like I'm seeing that talking point come up a bit and I hope teams really buy into it.

Bears - Caleb Williams.
Washington - Maye though I'm seeing a little buzz about Daniels here.
NE - MHJ. Least likely to get hurt, will still get 1000 yards from Bailey Zappe. If they pick Daniels then they better sign Tyrod Taylor to start for a year to keep Daniels from getting killed.
Cardinals - if MHJ is gone, then i think they aren;t going QB. Nabors or Odunze go here. Personally I like Nabors.
Chargers - could go o-line but I mean you're gonna have a top WR sitting there. Hard to skip one of them. Odunze in LA would be really sweet.
Giants have Jayden Daniels fall to them and grab him. If not, they address the line. I guess if Daniels goes earlier then one of the WRs might be here.
Titans get Alt

After that I don't know. Lots of people thinking the Pats will trade down. im sleepy

Favorite BG3 boss fights?

for me, Raph was the best. The music starts and the vocals kick in and it's like, oh yeah a cool battle in hell with a devil, organ music going, this lady singing... and then the Raph section starts and it's so perfect. Hell, hell, hell has its laws! The fight itself is great and can go south quickly for you.

Temple of Shar (forget the lady's name) was the hardest for me. None of my buffs or spells allowed me to see in the darkness AOE. I had to replay it a bunch of times and use one character (Karlach) to charge the enemy in the back, kill it, and then allow the goons to slowly kill her. Everyone else had to figure out AoE to take down the rest. Fireball, wonderful spell!

Ansur was disappointing. the myrmidons are a bad addition, they teleport to a ledge, cast an AOE, and get pushed off right away. Being a dragon he was very strong and wild! But also mind blast worked well on him.

The courtyard battle was cool but a little too easy.

The finale was neat. I used the dragon breath attack and all my allies charged into it once the enemies were all dead. Zevlor noooo

The final guy in the goblin camp was tough for me, I had to use ogres and spiders. It was my second use of ogres so they turned on me so they were also part of the fight lol.

I didn't get the iron flash until the very end of act 3, that might have helped. The spectator got vaporized in the final fight but I feel like it would have been really useful in the Shar fight.

Astral tadpole + summon elemental, with Karlach just smashing everything. That was my main strategy. Shadowheart with guardian spirit was also a big part of every battle.

All right I beat this last night. About 153 hours in-game. My PS5 adds another 20ish hours. 5-10 of those extra hours were due to the Ravengard glitch, where he stays in the Wyrmhold throne room unless you physically walk into Lower City (can't fast travel).

Only quest that I didn't complete (according to my log) was the Dribbles the Clown body part collection. I do see I missed some tangential content (I just killed Mystic Carrion on site because killing stuff is fun, but it looks like there is a quest to do it or something, for instance).

I played a bronze dragonborn bard named Goji and made him look reasonably like Legendary Godzilla.

I tried to be a typical bard early on.... lie and joke and persuade my way through stuff. It didn't really seem to suit the game. I'd say for the first 15 hours my guy was just insensitive and squishy. I also didn't like early combat because I missed Lae'zel so my bard was the tankiest character. Fights were basically fire bolt cantrips with my bard tanking and using fire breath. Once I replaced Gale and Astarion with Wyll and Karlach, I never really looked back.

I did use Gale for his personal quests in act 3. And spent some time with Jaheira and Minsc. Jaheira was terrific - you can pick the joking dialog options and she rolls with it. The other characters are super sensitive and it was a bit of a drag playing a bard, killing dragons and defeating gods and your party can't engage in a little friendly back and forth.

Minsc is a legend and one of my all-time faves. I was genuinely happy when I recruited him and figured we would ride off into the sunset together... but after a few quests, I wanted Karlach back in the group.

Went with Shadowheart. After the ending I kinda feel like maybe I shoulda picked Karlach
