I don't think it's guaranteed or anything! But you're fundamentally handicapping your experience with the game by not playing it and that can have substantial changes on how you perceive it.

I understand your point, and I get what you're saying, but I'm also arguing that in the moments when there are no button presses and you are simply just watching a cutscene, there can still be a difference in emotional response depending on if you've been playing the game up to that point vs just watching it. It's not only in the moments where you physically press a button that the game can feel different.

And again, that's different for everyone and the amount of difference is different for everyone.

Maybe you've been saying that all along and I am misunderstanding your initial point, but the tone of your post made me feel otherwise.

Most of the cutscenes in the game requires you to do nothing, so there's a definitely also a difference from scene to scene.

I can agree with this while also saying that the largeness of the difference is different from person to person. I think it's impossible to say with conviction that any particular moment resonates the same with playing vs. watching because we can't say for certain how any one individual reacts to something when playing vs watching.

There are people on both ends of the spectrum in this very topic.

You definitely do for telling me that how I experience games is wrong. You could have said, "that's fair, but for me I experience it the same regardless of the way I consume it".

Instead your post came across as, "you're all wrong for feeling the way you do and I can objectively state that all games are the same whether you watch or play it".

I don't think you quite get the same impact without aying personally.

I played the game with my girlfriend watching every moment, and in both the theater and final fight I was struggling to hit the square button, meanwhile she was very quick to say, "just do it". She was pretty emotional about the game as well, but it seemed far easier for her to tell me to do something than for me to actually do it.

Yeah, this isn't something that only exists with this game. I don't get nearly the same emotional response watching a game as I do playing it in general, which is why I don't usually watch people play games unless I have no desire to play them or I already have played them and have experienced them myself.

I don't really have anything to add that hasn't been already said in this topic, but I just finished it last weekend and loved it as well. I think that most of what @Lightning_Strikes said I can agree with, and those are my general thoughts on the game. UC4 is my favorite ND game and this one at minimum comes very close to it. I'll have to think about it more after a while.

It didn't take me playing too long to recognize that the gameplay was better than the original. I think the story had its ups and downs, and pacing was an issue, but overall I think that wins out over the original as well. The only time I was kind of not into it was when I realized I'd be playing as Abby for an extended period of time, but that speaks to the game making me hate the character. By the end of my time with her I honestly wasn't sure what I wanted to happen, so the game did a good job of winning me over. I essentially pleaded with the TV to just stop when Ellie decided she had to finish it at the end of the farm section, and was very ready for Abby to come out on top there.

Damn, I'm getting shafted by the Leafs being a team that draws viewers and getting placed in a prime time spot when it would actually work out better if they were mid day games.

I'm in on Far Cry because that's my guilty pleasure series and I don't care if its literally a reskinned version of the last game because I just want more of it.

I gave up on AC awhile ago and there's nothing that they can do to bring me back.

When I first started playing as Abby I was not looking forward to it, but the game did a great job of making me care about the character. The Abby/Ellie showdown in the theater was rough but it ended about as positive as it could have.

It's nice to see Tommy alive, but fuck they need to let it go. Somebody is going to end up dying here and it's probably Ellie. If I'm speaking objectively, she kind of deserves it for continuing this, but fuck I am not going to be ready for it when it happens.

I should finish the game this evening!

I'm still going with this, incredibly slowly now that my girlfriend is back to work and there isn't much joint time to play.

Not sure if people are still using spoiler tags are not, will wait until I finish the game to read through everything. Just got to the farm and holy fuck what a whirlwind of all the emotions. Fuck.

Unless the rest of this game, which I assume is nearing its end, is incredibly awful, I'm very confident in my 2 > 1 hot take, and will be ready to fight everyone here in real life about it once I finish the game sometime this weekend.

Off the top of my head, maybe Thumper? I have a few platinums that are at a 0.1% completion rate, but that seems like the toughest one that was all skill and not just grindy.

The story is he proposed to his girlfriend on Twitter and everyone dogpiled on him. Apparently he's had erratic behavior before this. It wasn't even 4 hours between him proposing and getting universally dumped on for it and then committed suicide.

It was an ex-girlfriend who he hasn't actually seen in 6 months. It sounds really odd (and it is), but it's kind of par for the course for Reckful.

This has hit me harder than any celebrity death before it. I'm in complete shock.

I saw his tweets this morning and figured it was another manic episode for him. He's dealt with depression for most of his life and has had his ups and downs.

It still depends on the game, though. I didn't get many points from my platinum in MLB the Show 18.

Madden 18 + 19 are both incredibly easy, although a little grindy. Around 20 hours each for the platinum.

Madden 20 is significantly less grindy but it requires a little bit of online boosting.

I got a month of EA access for $1.50 on sale and went through all the sports games I haven't played from the last few years. Most of them have easy trophies and they're worth a whole lot because the venn diagram of trophy hunters and sports game players is just two different circles.

I spent $80 on some portable wifi box a few months ago, because the place I'm staying at has issues with the power going out and I'm currently doing online teaching, only to immediately realize that the connection is garbage and essentially unusable, so I put it in a drawer, never to be used again and instead bought a Uninterruptible Power Supply for my router.

Good thing I didn't sign a contract on it otherwise I'd be paying $30 a month for the internet!

Seems like its not about men/women but just how popular you are.

Alinity is in the top 0.1% because she has more than 100 viewers, but she isn't exactly "popular" if our definition is "one of the biggest people on Twitch". There are probably a triple digit amount of streamers, both men and women, that are "more popular" than her that are not held to the same standard , so I don't think that's the exact reasoning.

I don't think money has anything to do with it. A top 10 streamer in terms of subscribers was banned for a day or so a couple weeks ago because he accidently clicked a link of gorillas having sex. There are many similar cases like this across the board at the top. If he was so popular why did that happen?

It's just inconsistent moderation across the board, regardless of view count or money brought in to the company.

Oh yeah their system is absolutely terrible, no doubt about it. Their ToS is not clearly defined, which means that their bans are incredibly inconsistent.

I just don't think as a whole that "the men are treated more poorly than the women" holds weight. r/livestreamfail is toxic as fuck, but every day there you see a couple female streamers who don't understand Twitch isn't a cam site get banned because of nudity, it's not like a blind eye is being turned, it just seems like the upper echelon is more "biased towards men" because the men significantly outweigh the women at that level.

I have no excuse for Alinity, though, I'm just as baffled and annoyed as the next person when it comes to her ban evasion. I'm just a little tired of the "but what about Alinity" excuse. I feel like people need to move on. I've seen too many people on Twitter say, "wow Doc did nothing but Alinity is free", and yeah these are idiots, but it's crazy that it always comes back to that and she lives rent free in these people's heads.

The one thing I'll say about Alinity is this: after the cat incident, the local animal services paid her a visit and found nothing wrong. At this point, what can you do? They saw the clip and went to her house, are we as the viewer more knowledgeable than the professionals, or should we just get on with our lives?
